I usually book one Sunday night/Monday morning for Monday evening.

Just gone in and there's no slots till Friday Sad

Is this because people don't want to shop j store, in crowds?
I've never seen there be such a wait for delivery unless it's Christmas week!!

Yes I think everyone panicking now due to Italy
Have you tried Amazon prime now (ego deliver Morrisons) if it’s available in your area? I just looked and there are slots available today and all week.

SadThing · 09/03/2020 09:45

Can you get a full weekly shop or is it just for bits?

I have a tesco delivery saver so delivery is already paid for

I got one for today but then it wouldn't check out as normal. I'm quite stocked up anyway, it was mainly bulky stuff I cba to go and get.

I'm going to try the ones with warehouses that aren't dependent on shop level stock now.

AnyFucker · 09/03/2020 09:51

Same here. Unable to get a delivery slot all week using my prepaid plan.

Not happy.

BlingLoving · 09/03/2020 09:52

I assume it's a combination of not wanting to go to a store and wanting to bulk buy that might be hard to do in person. I think it's ridiculous. I'm also unreasonably annoyed as I JUST signed up to one of those delivery passes as I've gone back to mostly online over the last few months and it feels like I'm not exactly getting my money's worth.

I'm planning to do a mini shop today so that I can book my slot for the end of the week. which is also annoying because the one downside of online shopping for me has always been that I have to plan in advance. Now I have to plan even MORE in advance. And it's annoying.

belay · 09/03/2020 09:55

Sainsbury's have slots for tomorrow. But it depends where you live

CherryPavlova · 09/03/2020 09:58

I've just booked slots for the next three weeks..I've always done this. I use a minimal shop to secure the slots and add nearer the time when I know what I want.

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 09/03/2020 09:59

I got a delivery slot with Asda for tomorrow but half the items I put on it have now gone out of stock. Sigh.

Paintforkitchen · 09/03/2020 09:59

It’s not everywhere though, I also shop with Tesco and currently there are loads of slots available even for tomorrow.

AnyFucker · 09/03/2020 09:59

I am having to do a physical shop this week thus not able to use my prepaid pass.

I shall use another supermarket though.

BlingLoving · 09/03/2020 10:00

First delivery for my area for Ocado is Saturday at 8pm. Honestly, it's ridiculous. I have moved back to online even though it can be more expensive because I think with careful shopping and use of specials it won't be as expensive as it could be and frankly I just don't have time to do in person shopping any more.

The problem is that delivery companies won't be able to tell if this trend is long-term so it would be hard for them to invest in more vans and drivers if it's just a short term blip.

bellinisurge · 09/03/2020 10:02

Always do them well in advance. Dh just messaged me to prompt me to get a couple more bookings in. Done all my weekly ones for March . No problem.
But given that I'm a general prepper, no problem for us if they are cancelled either.

WooMaWang · 09/03/2020 10:05

I just did an online shop. All the slots from Tuesday onwards are still available. Monday is only unavailable because it's Monday.

There's no issue at all.

HathorX · 09/03/2020 10:10

I do the same as Cherrypavlova, I get my slot booked well in advance with a standard trolley then I refine the trolley and check out again nearer the delivery date.

And yes I would expect a lot of people to be doing their panic buying online as they will be buying multi buys, bulky goods, heavy tins and packets.

winniesanderson · 09/03/2020 10:15

Ours came from Tesco last night, ordered the night before, with only one substitution, baked beans. I did notice lots of the cheaper range things we normally buy were out of stock though, especially loo roll. We weren't able to book a click and collect for a few days but plenty of home delivery slots

TheOrigBrave · 09/03/2020 10:37

I normally book my ocado order on Friday or Saturday to arrive early Monday morning. Earliest slot was for this evening, so not too bad, but no day time slots for a few days.

I got everything I wanted apart from loo rolls! We have three between 2 of us, so we're fine. Of all the things to worry about running out of I think loo roll is pretty low on my list; I mean there are alternatives, whereas food....well, I'd say that was pretty important.

Imagine if one of these big supermarkets put an announcement out that one of their delivery drivers has corona virus

viccat · 09/03/2020 15:29

Ocado sent an email a week or so ago to say slots were getting booked up due to higher than usual demand and to book early... I guess that then leads to more people booking early = even fewer slots available...

DameXanaduBramble · 09/03/2020 15:34

I’m aghast at all the people moaning on the Ocado fb page about lack of slots, like they have some god given right to the slot of their choice at a time of unprecedented demand. What do they expect them to do?

bellinisurge · 09/03/2020 15:40

"Imagine if one of these big supermarkets put an announcement out that one of their delivery drivers has corona virus"
But surely they are all immune because they live to serve the "oh just get it delivered " approach.

namechangedforthis1122 · 09/03/2020 15:42

@bellinisurge absolutely!

EnidBlyton · 09/03/2020 15:42

I have a voucher, due to non appearance due to sickness on saturday, i better be able to use it!

bluechameleon · 09/03/2020 16:40

After seeing this thread I've opened the Tesco app and there are no slots for tomorrow or Wednesday which is unheard of, those are always the least busy days. I'm going to book in my slot for next week now just in case.

BarbedBloom · 09/03/2020 16:43

I have a delivery coming tomorrow that I booked last week and almost half of my stuff is out of stock. No slots now till Monday.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/03/2020 16:44

Plenty of slots with Tesco when I booked last night.
