I usually book one Sunday night/Monday morning for Monday evening.

Just gone in and there's no slots till Friday Sad

Is this because people don't want to shop j store, in crowds?
I've never seen there be such a wait for delivery unless it's Christmas week!!

It's the old people getting home deliveries, our town is like a ghost town, it's like all old people have been transported. Market stall holders and cafe staff had never seen it before. It's a social hub for them, it was quite eerie.
I think in time they may even be given priority and rightly so, along with other high risk groups.

I have agoraphobia so do my shopping online. I can't go I store so its a real issue for me.

just so I can clear my mind, what age is old? I'd hate to be old and no one has told me yet.

Devlesko · 10/03/2020 00:06

My mil is 78 and her and her dh 75 are seeing us all for a get together at weekend and not going out again. This is the same for their social circle and others of this age and older.
My 90 year old neighbour will still walk for his paper but is doing with caution.
They are still going to church but the closeness has gone and they are observing distance.

SnoozyLou · 10/03/2020 00:24

@Effinfamily I'm 41. I'm definitely knocking on.

As far as I can tell the majority of my neighbours get their food shop delivered. We do too. It's easier than going to the supermarket. Especially when you live somewhere with no guarantee of parking anywhere near your house.

I had mine delivered this morning. They had everything I ordered, including hand wash and loo roll (ordinary quantities thereof, to replace the stuff we're running out of, not stockpiling).

NemophilistRebel · 10/03/2020 08:29

I’m 34 and get mine delivered because I work and have a 2 year old and am pregnant and haven’t done a supermarket shop since before I had him

You can shop anywhere online. You don’t have to buy from supermarkets I never do.
