Conflict in the Middle East

After Bondi beach protesters still call 'globalise the intifada'

"The pro-Palestine march is now well underway, with demonstrators chanting "End the occupation now" and "Stop arming Israel".

Veteran activist Peter Tatchell has been arrested at the protest for carrying a placard reading "Globalise the intifada", his foundation said."

Thankfully he was arrested for his sign. Clear incitment. The Manchester attack on a synagogue and Bondi beach attack and still some of the pro pal marches want to 'globalise the intifada'.

"The Met said in December that protesters chanting "globalise the intifada" will now be arrested because the "context has changed" in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack.

The Palestine Coalition – which includes groups such as the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition and Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament – is marching from Russell Square, down to the Strand, past Trafalgar Square and into Whitehall."

Why on earth can't marchers just march peacefully without the need to incite others?

Not sure what the point is to continue their marches tbh.

I agree. However, being a free country if they chose to spend their Saturdays or other times wandering around feeling they are being helpful to Palestinians (they really aren't) then so be it. Just wish they'd drop the support for Palestine Action, a proscribed terrorist organisation, and not wave 'globalise the intifada' signs to encourage others to take action of various means...or chant silly ditties, .. or as yesterday support the Iranian regime in their slaughter of tens of thousands of Iranian people who don't have their privilege and freedom. Quite sick really. Frankly, they disgust me. They are appalling. They, however, feel they are on the right side of history - sick snd a shame they cannot be sent to Iran to see what the regime is really like.

They are scum.

We have a British MP ( Zarah Sultana) openly calling for " from the river to the sea, all of Palestine will be free". She says she's in favour of a one state solution but unless she's spectacularly stupid ( she isn't) then she knows exactly how that would end up. She's a Nazi in modern day Britain and has support ( not sure how much in reality but there are loud voices championing her).

He can claim it's an attack on free speech all he wants. The fact is this phrase is not harmless.

Intifada means "uprising" in Arabic and has previously referred to two specific Palestinian uprisings against Israel, first in the late 1980s and then in the early 2000s. Thousands of people were killed, according to several estimates.

This phrase is used to incite violence against Jews around the world so is antisemitic, along with the phrase "from the river to the sea" which is associated with the eradication of the Israeli state.

Peter Tatchell & the others arrested would have been well aware that the Met would arrest protesters chanting "globalise the intifada." They made that clear after the tragic events at Bondi Beach, and any decent person would understand why they changed their stance.

As crowds dispersed at around 4.30pm, Scotland Yard said a woman was arrested in Whitehall after she was seen wearing a T-shirt with the words “Globalise the intifada” on.

The force said a total of 15 people were arrested – made up of one person from the Stop the Hate counter-protest, 13 from the Palestine Coalition protest and one arrest that was unrelated to the protests.

I've watched the you tube video of his arrest. Police politely pointed out several times that the term 'globalise the intifada' was not allowed and asked him to pop the sign down. He argued and refused to do so. The woman next to him stated that she 'didn't find it offensive so no one else should' .... the level of entitlement of these people 🙄 these useful idiots, display cult like behaviour, unable to realise that some in society might find the call to globalise action (as happened in Bondi) might be upsetting.

Just march if they want to, why the need to encourage resistance by any means though, why the need to cause offence and incite others.

With the Knesset in charge? Or the Palestinian authority ? (you can check out how they handle dissent from their people)
( I'm sure you're not suggesting hamas governance)

While we're at it we can reunify India & Pakistan, North & South Korea....it'll be fun. Can't see any issues.

Guess he’s stopped caring about ‘moral high ground’

Arabs in Israel are already full citizens, run for and gain Knesset seats.

If Palestinians live in Gaza they aren't Israeli citizens.

But Gaza is recognised as an independent state by many countries around the world including the UK.

I'd be interested to watch you sell the idea of the Knesset being in charge to the people of Gaza, or indeed the Palestinian authority.

Any thoughts what you would call this hypothetical single state.

Can I get this straight. You are proposing a 'one state' whereby Israel completely takes over Gaza and the WB giving everyone in those two areas full Israeli citizenship?
