This article is horrifying. £150 for a 25kg bag of flour. They don’t have access to fresh vegetables. No water. No cash, no food. This is disgraceful.

Why is the aid uncollected?

So on social media there looks like there's 2 new cafes that have opened in Gaza this week - a Nutella one and one called vanilla. They look really nice and have lots of nice food. And also lots of pictures from Gazans social media showing fully stocked street markets? Are Hamas preventing people to getting to these areas?

Short answer, yes.

There is a widespread food shortage in Gaza, but food is getting in and some parts of society are doing fine. Nice cafes to go to, I saw a lovely wedding the other day with everyone dressed fancy enjoying the entertainment, restaurants and a car “showroom”. The images of food in supermarkets & cafes show really unhealthy, sugary snacks as well as fresh fruit/veg. Why are there stores selling sweets, mountains of Nutella and foods we wouldn’t eat every day when there is mass starvation? Surely basic nutritionally requirements “for everyone” need to be met before munching on Nutella crepes? Free aid is being sold in markets, all of these diabetes inducing goods are being sold and imported, fruit & veg is available and all of that is under the control of Gazans. Why is there not a system in place to ensure everyone is looked after (try and provide your answer without mentioning Israel). There are aid organisations still operating in Gaza. The UN could be distributing aid but isn’t.

I am aware that Gazan society is inherently unfair and if you’re associated with Hamas you get a lot of benefits, but how on earth is it possible that some people are shopping in supermarkets and are so well fed they can have unhealthy sugary treats and others are scraping together enough money to buy a bag of flour that should be free? That can’t be blamed on Israel. I could not watch my neighbours starve as I feast.

If you think that Hamas is so awful they can’t be trusted to feed the people they’re meant to represent then you support Hamas’ removal. Why aren’t you calling for the UN to distribute aid? Why aren’t you calling on cafe owners to hand out free food?

Yes I saw that. How can we verify such footage?

Imshin on X.

She posts videos from Gazans posted to SM (usually Telegram). She started watching videos years ago (2017/8?) as she wanted to improve her language skills. She was surprised by what she saw as she believed the open air prison narrative but was seeing images that completely contradicted that.

As reported by SkyNews Arabic.

This is not to say there is food everywhere in Gaza as there isn’t! There is a widespread food shortage that is made much worse by the horrific inequality Gazans have to endure.

Why is the aid uncollected?

Aid agencies have intermittently stopped delivering aid throughout the war as the trucks are raided and drivers sometimes killed. Either by Hamas or by gangs/millitant groups that Hamas can’t/won’t stop. Hamas is still the governing authority in Gaza so they should be keeping control of society and policing life in a war zone. They policed things before 7 Oct (I’ve seen the videos of their torture method on Gazans in custody so there’s no way they couldn’t control things. They’re brutal) so should be doing it now. Hamas regularly publicly beats & shoots individuals they accuse of theft (not always with evidence) but can’t make sure aid gets to the people. Odd that.

The UN also doesn’t agree with how the GHF operates so refuse to work with them. They are going to ignore an immediate solution because they don’t agree with it in principle. I’m sure the people struggling to feed their families are really thankful for the UN’s moral integrity.

I keep coming back to, if you can justify inflicting famine, causing injuries and death against children then you have lost humanity.

That's Hamas for you, in their goal of destroying Israel they have lost what little humanity they had.

You'll have to ask the UN that, as they are supposed to deliver it.

Where are the calls for them.to.deliver it. Very odd.

"At this stage, Israel has completed its part in the humanitarian aid process. It is now the responsibility of international organizations to collect this aid and distribute it. A task in which the UN has unfortunately fallen short of expectations.

Following the delivery across the border, international organizations pick up the aid, and transfer it over to distribution points. The UN has sites surrounding their warehouses, both within and around the humanitarian zone."

Why aren't more people pushing for the UN to be better at its job of aid distribution. Its there get it distributed.

NGOs have found it difficult to operate and recruit under bureaucratic procedures initiated by Israel that they feel are unjustified and even illegal. Some more details here:
