This article is horrifying. £150 for a 25kg bag of flour. They don’t have access to fresh vegetables. No water. No cash, no food. This is disgraceful.

Video diary: The struggle for one meal in Gaza - BBC News

Literally everybody gets it. I can assure you it is not a complicated concept.

I would like to understand why people who are anti Israel spell it Isreal. @PrawnAgain can you explain?

No many people don’t get it at all! As evidenced by all the “Israel are not starving anyone, Hamas took the food!” Or “IDF don’t sniper shoot the kids queuing for food it’s Hamas!” Or “the hospitals have to be bombed by the IDF because they are full of Hamas” etc.. etc.. Israel do no wrong it’s all Hamas blah blah blah!!

We read those comments all the time, don’t pretend you don’t see it. And don’t try to distract by being the spelling police, it’s not very clever.

None of your examples prove your point. I have never come across anyone here or anywhere else who thinks that because Hamas is evil that makes Israel automatically good. Though I am often accused of it I do not think, and have never said, Israel can do no wrong. Quite the opposite. The expectation that Israel should do no wrong is an example of the way anti-Israel posters hold Israel to impossibly high standards.

I think its more a reflection of your black and white thinking to think that others think in those sort of binary terms. Most of the supppsedly 'pro-Israel' posters on here are capable of quite a lot of nuance. Though interestingly we are often explicitly criticised for suggesting that a bit of nuance might be a good idea.

So on social media there looks like there's 2 new cafes that have opened in Gaza this week - a Nutella one and one called vanilla. They look really nice and have lots of nice food. And also lots of pictures from Gazans social media showing fully stocked street markets? Are Hamas preventing people to getting to these areas?

Yes I saw that. How can we verify such footage?

PrawnAgain · 07/09/2025 19:13

I have never come across anyone here or anywhere else who thinks that because Hamas is evil that makes Israel automatically good.

I think we must be reading a different forum then. To be fair, I have also seen a (very small) amount of people saying that the 7th October attack was justified because of the treatment of the Palestinian people by Israel.

Please give me an example of someone saying Israel is automatically good because Hamas is bad.

Read any thread condemning Israel.
Posters reply with but Hamas did X as if that somehow makes Isreal's actions OK.

You told me to look at the entire board to find something to prove YOUR point. Its you who can't be arsed to prove it.

You haven't proven your point because you know that no one on these boards is saying Israel do no wrong.

The people who support Israel on these boards can see a lot wrong with how they have behaved. For myself, I will say they shouldn't have blocked humanitarian aid for as long as they did, shouldn't allow Settlers in the West Bank and should have built many more aid distribution centres throughout the whole of Gaza, not just the 3 or 4 currently operating via the GHF.

There are more criticisms I could list against Netanyahu and the more extreme ministers in his government.

And yet ... at the end of the day I still support Israel being at war with Hamas and pursing their goal to destroy Hamas. It is inconceivable to me that anyone could reasonably have expected that they could have allowed Hamas to remain in Gaza after the 7/10 massacre and kidnappings.

Hamas need to surrender, return the hostages, disarm and leave Gaza. They bring nothing but misery to the people of Gaza as well as to Israel.

Of course I can't be bothered to go through the board and collate everywhere this happens, complete with notes on context for you.
If you post regularly you would also have seen if but if haven't then take a look.

This isn't a court of law it's a chat forum. I'm not required to build a case to provide proof for you.

UN Rejects Help to Deliver Aid to Gazans: The United Nations rejected offers by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) to deliver much-needed humanitarian aid to Gazan civilians that is sitting undelivered inside the Gaza Strip despite the United Nations’ own warnings about widespread hunger. “We’ve been sounding the alarm for weeks on the need for more aid in Gaza while we’ve seen aid by the UN and other organizations being piled near the borders but not being delivered,” GHF Interim Director John Acree said. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric rejected the offer on July 23, accusing the GHF of setting up operations that “increase the risk of people [being] shot at or trampled while trying to get food.

Its a bizarre situation. It feels like political point scoring..why wont the UN accept help.

@SharonEllis

There are examples of this thread.

For example someone posted a link to an article about how Hamas are living in luxury while Gazan's starve, as if this makes it ok that Israel won't let aid in.

Will you please stop saying that "Israel won't let food in", that is not correct.

Seems its not just civilians Israel is blocking food from .

And Hamas starves the Israeli hostages but that's OK ?

The Palestinian prisoners are all volunteers but the Israeli hostages aren't.

What's worse is that only 1 in 4 of those held for an indefinite period of time without charge are actually Hamas fighters. The rest are civillians. They held an 82 year old woman with Alzheimers for 6 weeks. At one point they had so many elderly, sick and disabled people without charge that they had what they dubbed "the geriatric pen". These are the civillians that Israel are holding in appalling conditions and purposefully starving.

Israeli politicians, the military, the media and many posters here often refer to all detainees as “terrorists”.
That includes Fahamiya al-Khalidi, an 82-year-old with Alzheimer’s who was abducted with her female carer in Gaza City in December 2023, and held in Israel for six weeks under the unlawful combatant law. It's utterly shameful.

Ifeellikeateenageragain · 09/09/2025 06:45

I keep coming back to, if you can justify inflicting famine, causing injuries and death against children then you have lost humanity.
