Wait no......Bob is simply reminiscing about Band Aid 40 years ago. Has Bob given up his passionate zeal or as is more highly likely like most high profile musicians decided the Gaza conflict is one to stay well away from and they don't want to be seen the dupes of Hamas propaganda.

Not many big names on TV and the stage are wading into this for good reason and those that do are certainly the naive lovely types.

Yes, it is obvious, who said there wasn't? There is a 'lobby' on behalf of most countries and numerous causes. The poster was saying that the Israel Lobby had the power to 'terrify' though. Do we hear that about say, the French lobby? Or the Saudi Lobby? Saudi Arabia is a nation with far far worse human rights record than Israel and we sell them far far more arms, for example.

I don't understand why pro Israel, anti Hamas rhetoric was used in the same sentence by a pp. Then again, I think I do. Pro Israel lobbies are concerned with shaping the future of Israel. There are hundreds of thousands of pro Palestine groups doing the same for Gaza. What's the difference, apart from Palestine Action Group now presenting as terrorists?

Maybe. But it's equally possible he is more inclined to sympathise with Israel. His friend Bono is / was a born again Evangelical Christian. Bob Geldof isn't of course but many in his generation ( myself included) had a rose tinted view of Israel. Going there to pick fruit on a kibbutz was a rite of passage for many people. Yes , I know Christian churches are being destroyed by settlers and the IDF but that doesn't matter to the born agains. All part of God's plan. The Rapture etc.
