I'm an Orthodox Christian. It has just occurred to me that we might lose all of our sacred places in the Holy Land if this hostility by israel continues.

Where did I say every civilian is the enemy? But obviously in a war you have 2 or more sides that see each other as the 'enemy'.

How are the IDF to determine who is a civilian and who is not, on the ground during fighting. Women and kids are also used to fight. The reality is that there is no sure way for the IDF to determine who is uninvolved and who is not. That is all on Hamas for their cowardly strategy of getting as many civilians killed as possible to save themselves and demonise Israel. How can any of their supporters seriously think they are in anyway ‘heroic resistance fighters’. I guess just goes to prove their mindset and intelligence.

In fact every Palestinian ‘resistance’ movement has hidden behind and targeted civilians not just Hamas. The PLO, Fatah, etc, all the exact same MO.

This is what the ultracrepidarians rattling out rubbish on their keyboards ignore or don’t understand. Trying to kid themselves they are on some mission to stop a ‘genocide’, when they are actually just playing into the hands of barbaric monsters.

If Israel wasn’t involved, they would give as much of a shit as they do about the horrors in Sudan.

YourOnMute · 19/07/2025 13:18

If you give a shit about Sudan, set up a thread for it.
I've said this before, it's perfectly legitimate to say "this cause is particularly important to me". People have their own reasons why. Support organisations are often started by a person who had a particular interest in one area. Trying to suggest that people who are interested in this topic are somehow wrong is not right. Trying to suggest that people who are supportive of this topic particularly is wrong. Trying to suggest that people who are supporting this topic, but not others is wrong. We don't have to signal every cause we support to show we are somehow giving a shit.
People are entitled to support this.

Anyone any update on Taybeh?

YourOnMute · 19/07/2025 13:21

Also are the IDF doing much ground fighting or combat? Or is it mostly shooting with drones, bombing with drones and airstrikes, which target civilian infrastructure, including tents now.

Stripes56 · 19/07/2025 13:25

Trying to suggest children and women are legitimate targets is also appalling:
”How are the IDF to determine who is a civilian and who is not, on the ground during fighting. Women and kids are also used to fight.”

Ultimate dehumanisation of Palestinians.

As it is, the church was struck with a tank (very brave- it was not ground fighting!) housed 50 children with special needs who could not be easily be moved.

Oh give over with the hysteria.

Thats not what said I said at all.

Maybe you could answer the question you actually quoted?

I would expect attempts to be made by the IDF to find out who was in the church before it struck it with a tank! Seems reasonable to me? There is no evidence there were sniper shots coming from the church from witness accounts.

The church was known to shelter people through the last 2 years bombardment of Gaza.

@Anonimummy
What did you mean by:
“Women and kids are also used to fight,” if not to suggest that they are targets to? If you didn’t- I apologise, because I agree that they certainly are not legitimate targets!

They know exactly who everyone is and where they are. Most up to date technology for any military. I posted a couple of days ago how Israel own every phone number and Internet cable and use tracking software.

Moshe Feiglin a former member of the Knesset said "The enemy is not Hamas, every child every baby in Gaza is an enemy"

There has been no return fire from any person queueing for aid but another 32 were killed today at two aid sites.

From what have you decided the church was the target?

Sorry, so you think IDF soldiers should just let themselves be killed by women and 13 -19 year olds who are trying to kill them armed with AK47s or IEDs.

Why is that?

YourOnMute · 19/07/2025 14:15

Double post

From what have you decided the church was the target?

I dont know, maybe because it was bombed? Along with other churches, mosques, hospitals, schools, houses, flats and tents. And every other building.

The IDF soldiers engaged in open combat is it??
Or the ones controlling the drones and bombs.

From what have you decided the church was the target?

The fact it was shot at by a tank. Did the IDF think it was a Hamas leader disguised as a church?

But @TooBigForMyBoots it was a stray missile, a complete accident. Anybody can make one mistake, first time for everything etc etc

(Can imagine the phone call with Trump, Id say he's like an absolute antichrist at the moment with the Epstein stuff and trying to hold onto the fundamental Christians and then they missile a church!)

This is a bizarre question - because the tank struck is the obvious answer. IDF have also said it was a mistake.

They said fragments of a shell struck the church, it was not bombed or struck as a target.

Bit of a difference, no?

A mistake is not saying it was the target is it - quite the reverse?

YourOnMute · 19/07/2025 17:07

Ah of course, it was a mistake. Just like everything else...
Committed to protecting civilians and holy sites.

Stripes56 · 19/07/2025 17:17

You’d think with their military expertise they would work out how not to hit a church by accident!

The church was clearly the target.

Was the mistake that they were found out that they were targeting a religious building that they presumed had been evacuated? It couldn’t be evacuated as there were 50 children with special needs who were difficult to move.
