US confirms plan for private firms to deliver Gaza aid despite UN alarm

The US has confirmed that a new system for providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza through private companies is being prepared, as Israel's blockade continues for a third month.

US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said "distribution centres" protected by security contractors would provide food and other supplies to over a million people initially, as part of an effort to prevent Hamas stealing aid.

He denied Israel would take part in aid delivery or distribution, but said its forces would secure the centres' perimeters.

It comes as details emerged about the controversial plan, which UN agencies have reiterated they will not co-operate with because it appears to "weaponize" aid.

Yes I’ve seen that one. All ‘evidence’ came from the Palestinians (aka Hamas as they decide what comes out of Gaza) and the investigation was commissioned by Al Jazeera so I’ll take that with a pinch of salt.

I also read other articles showing discrepancies in what had been presented.

The IDF have denied the accusation. I guess in the end it depends on who you believe and whether you logically believe a highly trained military would fire 335 rounds on one solitary vehicle to kill one small child. I don’t particularly.

Did you actually watch that video by the way. The IDF spokesman comes across as pathetic in the face of the independent evidence provided by a respected satellite imagery company (not Al Jazeera)

I don’t think the US/Israel of going to give up these food distribution centres to allow Hamas to steal the aid again.

They need to either stop shooting their own people to accuse the IDF or stop sending their operatives to provoke a response/attack the IDF.
