Conflict in the Middle East

To think someone has got to stop the mass killings in Gaza

BotanicalCake · 03/04/2025 21:34

We are back to hundreds of Gazans being killed each day after the so called ceasefire and over 50,000 now slaughtered, mostly women and children.
The bombing of hospitals, schools and 'safe zones' not being enough, they are now picking off paramedics. How much depravity is the world going to tolerate?

AIBU to suggest that the world leaders complicit in Netanyahu's genocide should all stand before the Hague?

'Before Hamas, in Gaza, an Israeli army bulldozer was held back by Rachel Corrie a brave American solidarity volunteer who was trying to stop it illegally demolishing civilians homes. After a day long stand off the soldier got fed up, drove straight over her then reversed back over her'

Not quite what happened.

It all sounds extremely toxic @Mylegishangingoff

However, there is nothing you can say that makes me think it’s ok that adolescent boys were growing up being taught to hate Israel, throwing stones with intent to harm & progressing to being active members of a terrorist organisation like Hamas. It was happening and being allowed to happen but after October 7th, it doesn’t seem possible that it can continue to be allowed to happen.

Gloriia · 06/04/2025 09:06

'there was a young American woman shot in the head at a protest, Israel said it was a 'mistake'. How many Palestinians do you think this happens to'

People are tragically killed on both sides.

Until Hamas are obliterated and they elect proper civilised leaders who will negotiate then they're a bit stuck with senseless deaths.

You missed the whole point. When you are at a disadvantage from the moment you are born because Israel have set the rules that purposefully put you at a disadvantage you don't have to be taught to hate anyone. Palestinians aren't stupid. They can see what is happening. Why would they like Israel when they are treated that way from the moment they are born? Would you like a country who treated you unfairly and made your life difficult(understatement) based on nothing more than who you were born as?

What reasons do you think these boys have to like Israel?

So Hamas are to blame for an American woman being shot in the head at a protest in the West Bank?

No idea you'll need to link and not just give me Hamas version of events.

What I do know is 2000 innocent people were deliberately tortured, raped and murdered on Oct 7th whilst the animals committing these atrocities filmed it all.

That actually happened.

What on earth? So everything that happens in the West Bank is Hamas version of events too? See @Twiglets1 Palestinians just aren't believed, it's all Hamas version of events. It doesn't matter what it is they are automatically disbelieved by some. Not just that but they are all apparently Hamas too. What chance do they have really?

IDF admits it likely mistakenly killed American activist in West Bank battle

An IDF statement has revealed that soldiers likely accidentally killed a Turkish-American citizen in an altercation in the West Bank.

Mistakenly killed an activist. Terrible yes . It just doesn't compare to 2000 murdered deliberately on Oct 7th does it. Have you even heard of the Bibas family? There wasn't anything mistaken about that.

It’s horrendous. How anyone can look at these videos or images of dead children and feel nothing I will never understand.

It is scary to see a reminder of what we humans are capable of. Most days I can't believe what I am witnessing. And I feel so powerless. If anyone has suggestions about how I can register my protest more actively than just "feeling sad" I would be very grateful.

Think this article just proves no wrongdoings will ever be admitted to.

The Israeli court found that the Israeli investigation was correct.

Rapes and torture never happened in Sde Teiman until the video was released.

Like the IDF was correct with the 15 aid workers this week until a video was found.

I didn’t miss the point but how can the cycle of hate just go on forever? It can’t just go on forever with every few years Hamas instigating another massacre against Israel civilians when they feel strong enough.

@Gloriia asked for a link which seems reasonable.

Many people would not believe the word of Hamas without other verification whether you like it or not. They are a terrorist organisation after all.

Everyone on the thread has condemned Hamas, as do I. But just for facts, Hamas has said in its charter and in a recent interview that they would lay down arms if the two state solution was implemented ie if Israel gives the Palestinians a state on 22% of what was their homeland - implemented international law, in other words.

This must be the interview you refer to - Khalil al-Hayya in April 2024. The offer was vague and contradictory at best - or just another piece of propaganda. Two reports on the interview here:

A top Hamas political official told The Associated Press the Islamic militant group is willing to agree to a truce of five years or more with Israel and that it would lay down its weapons and convert into a political party if an independent Palestinian state is established along pre-1967 borders...

Al-Hayya did not say whether his apparent embrace of a two-state solution would amount to an end to the Palestinian conflict with Israel or an interim step toward the group’s stated goal of destroying Israel...

Al-Hayya said Hamas does not regret the Oct. 7 attacks, despite the destruction it has brought down on Gaza and its people. He denied that Hamas militants had targeted civilians during the attacks — despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary...

https://apnews.com/article/hamas-khalil-alhayya-qatar-ceasefire-1967-borders-4912532b11a9cec29464eab234045438

The AP report notes that Al-Hayya does not say whether his apparent embrace of a two-state solution would amount to an end to the Palestinian conflict with Israel or merely constitute an interim step toward the group’s stated goal of destroying Israel.

The Palestinian demand for a so-called “right of return” provides for up to six million descendants of refugees entering Israel — a demand dismissed by Israel as seeking to destroy it as a Jewish majority state.

In an interview yesterday with the Dubai-based Asharq News, al-Hayya said that the creation of a Palestinian state along 1967 borders would be viewed only as a temporary solution, and insisted on the Palestinians’ “historic right to all Palestinian lands,” suggesting that the terror group would continue to try and reach its stated goal of destroying Israel.

In a 2017 bid to curry international favour, Hamas revised [its charter], claiming the group’s struggle was not against Jews, but rather against “the Zionist project.” But Hamas’s political program still officially “rejects any alternative to the full liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea” — referring to the area reaching from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, which includes lands that now make up Israel.

Like the Israeli hostages murdered by the IDF , the British citizens murdered by the IDF, the World Kitchen Aid workers murdered by the IDF. It's naïve at best to think the IDF has no blood on its hands and no fault. People have woken up to what they are and it is not the most moral army BS.

Years ago before Hamas, the IDF buried Palestinians alive with their bulldozers. I can't find the article now but I think it was an IDF general who said that's what happens when we have young conscripts and some Israeli's commented things had gone too far..

Martymcfly24 · 06/04/2025 13:44

@Silence1 And an Irish solider back in 1987, when they still invented the same bullshit about seeing "suspicious movement" even thought it was confirmed the UN flag was flying and the building was properly illuminated.(Sound familiar?)

I don't doubt mistakes have been made and people unfortunately killed but that is the nature of conflict.

What the IDF haven't done is killed, raped and tortured 2000 innocent people as Hamas and their many supporters did on Oct 7th.

WaryCrow · 06/04/2025 14:03

I think most people will be watching the whole situation in total horror, from Hamas’ starting to now. I don’t know what we can do though. These groups have hated each other since the beginning of days.

Humans. I’m glad the birth rates are falling.

Jaessa · 06/04/2025 14:06

@Gloriia you keep saying this sentence below.
What the IDF haven't done is killed, raped and tortured 2000 innocent people as Hamas and their many supporters did on Oct 7th.

On Oct 7th, did 1139 people die. Yes. No question. Did 2000 people get raped and tortured. No. Not saying that some didn’t, but be accurate. How many? What evidence or officials statement was released

A report by a UN Commission published in June 2024 found that the Israel Security Forces applied the Hannibal Directive in several locations, likely killing at least 14 Israeli civilians on 7 October 2023. In one case, the IDF killed an Israeli hostage by drone who was being kidnapped into Gaza by Hamas. Another tragic friendly fire was 13 Israelis hiding in a house in and the IDF killed them.

There were helicopters deployed opening fire indiscriminately on cars in the area unable to tell if they were Hamas or Israeli civilians - many civilians were killed, but the IDF refuse to confirm the figures. They only confirmed the others because the footage was irrefutable.

30 of the perished Israeli hostages have been killed by bombing of Gaza by the IDF. Netanyahu would have sold them all down the river had it not been for Iraeli outcry.

The IDF have killed well over 2000 Palestinians. They have also tortured and raped, long, long before October 7th 2023 and very much so after. So what you are saying is untrue.

Shooting whoever you want in the head is not a mistake. It’s unlawful. The IDF are a legitimate army and are meant to act by the rules of war. Either they are deeply inept, which has been very evident or they think they are a law and a level of morality all onto themselves which permits them to carry out heinous war crimes without impunity.

Shooting 15 aid workers, and burying them along with 3x ambulances in a mass grave is a mistake too, isn’t it? Why bury them?
The IDF did one of their great investigations again, and it’s all good and lawful as fair as they’re concerned.

I just opened Instagram and watched another headless c.5 year old being carried to the morgue. Another toddlers tiny grey feet sticking out from rubble. These are innocent children. They are not a mistake or casualty of war. They are murdered innocent kids.

however, is that you admitting that Israel IS carrying out “mass killing and genocide”? 🥴 Because I’m glad we can agree on that. Israel is conducting terrorism and genocide.

I’m sure lots of things have been said in court that aren’t correct or true, it doesn’t mean that justice has been served just because it was said in court or a verdict was given, etc. Many courts have also ruled that Israel is also indiscriminately killing and is at wrong, shall we post all of them here too? I’m sure Israel-sympathisers will be quick to find fault with those cases.

It is well known that Israeli groups still mock Rachel Corrie’s death with pancakes on her death anniversary.

It’s not even the first or last time. Israel is in the news again for murdering 15 medics in cold blood. Their ambulance/uniforms were clearly marked and yet they ended up in a mass grave.

This is exactly what I said too - people justifying this should imagine themselves in this context. Being murdered in a genocide, a targeted ethnic cleansing by Netanyahu and his cronies. There’s no justification.

Muslim, Jew, Christian, atheist. Black, white, brown. East, west or up in space. Everyone should be protesting a genocide.
