I think 10 year old articles are quite helpful in that they evidence that Hamas had a track record of lying about death counts and it’s not new to this current conflict.

If you don’t believe a word Israel, and presumably Hamas, says who do you believe?

I have not heard anyone from any organisation query the death toll in Gaza have you? And what's the source? I have only heard concern that it's likely to be higher

For the pro-Palestinian crowd, it seems that all Palestinians, no matter what they may record themselves doing, are innocent children who have never done anything wrong while all Israelis are evil liars.

Israel being on the ground means nothing when they lie and cannot be trusted. Again can you show me your evidence that the figures are being disputed?

I shouldn't have to explain this. Israel has been lying consistently for years about its behaviour in Palestine. This lying has become prolific in the last year.

The inference from not believing the numbers from Gaza is that the deaths and destruction are make believe. This is very dangerous rhetoric. To be honest i find it disgusting and it's partly why I choose not to engage much with people who make these harmful arguments.

@ShortCircuited if the IDF are close enough to accurately report casualties, surely they are also close enough to be able to identify combatants from non-combatants before they kill them? Surely they are close enough to lend aid to the wounded and injured?
