Huge applause to Cillian Murphy on accepting his Oscar as the first Irishman to ever do so and dedicating it to Peacemakers everywhere!
👏👏👏

from the author of the badges

“The pin symbolises collective support for an immediate and permanent cease-fire, the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza,” Artists4Ceasefire said in a press release.

Bloody hands?
Yep ok.

I prefer to trust the people who created the badge rather than a private ig account who I’ve no clue who they are. Happy for you to believe the latter

Same here @EasterIssland

Shame that they felt it was Ok to post such nonsense on this thread at what is a sad time for many people. I made an effort to share some positive stories on here, on the small off chance, it might help brighten somebody’s day just a little bit.

PeasfullPerson · 11/03/2024 18:44

I find the timing of the post incredibly disrespectful.

Beautiful souls and extremely brave considering how many artists have been cancelled or harassed for daring to speak about Palestine ❤

For example Charlotte church, they’ve have to explain themselves about why they’re not antisemic after the comments they’ve received after taking part in this weekends March

Another horrific ordeal which is often overlooked by histories of that time. The Holocaust and the murdering of innocent Jewish people (and other groups) during the influence of the Nazis was not confined to the borders of Europe.

There are several chilling similarities between the atrocities of what happened in Baghdad then and what happened on October 7th. Neither should be forgotten.

Rather than discussing it here, I wonder if it might be worth a separate thread? (Not to silence the discussion but to create a space for it to be given the respect and consideration it deserves, so it doesn't get lost in a thread with a different name?)

stomachamelon · 12/03/2024 20:11

@Scirocco that's a good idea thank you.

Statement from it:

Paris, 12 March 2024. Respect for human rights is an essential element of the EU’s association agreements with partner countries. Article 2 states that "relations between the Parties, as well as all the provisions of the Agreement itself, shall be based on respect for human rights and democratic principles, which guides their internal and international policy and constitutes an essential element of this Agreement". Violation of the so-called "essential elements" clauses allows the EU to denounce or suspend the agreements in whole or in part under Article 60 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties. In the light of the deaths and suffering endured by the Palestinian people, the European Union has the duty and the means to act to prevent Israel’s crimes in Gaza and to reduce the extent of human suffering.

That's disgusting. How awful.

EasterIssland · 17/03/2024 21:01

San Sebastián (basque country)
thousands of people laid on the floor representing the genocide in Gaza with the sirens from Gernika on the background. I’ve spoken about gernika on this thread before , it’s where one of the worse air strakes from German nazis happened during the Spanish civil war. Gernika citizens did the Palestinian flag few weeks ago whilst the same siren was being played

Why the rapper known as Residente delayed releasing his most recent album

Rapper Residente talks about his activism and the release of his second solo album: Lyrics No Longer Matter. He initially delayed the release due to what he calls a "macabre genocide" in Gaza.

famous people that are being quiet about what is happening

I've been following the falling out that's been happening on the Right/Conservative side in America, due to the election coming up in November.

Candace Owens is an African American Conservative Christian influencer who works for the Pro Israeli Ben Shapiros company the Daily Wire. She's been threatened, denigrated, smeared and called stupid, including by Shapiro pubicly when she was 40 weeks pregnant. Her crime?having the temerity to say as a human and a Christian it's painful to watch the situation in Gaza and feel no sympathy and she cares about everyone.
Rabbi Barclay wrote a libellous article about her (now retracted) and she invited him on to her show to be interviewed. It's 90 minutes of gaslighting, "but Hamas".
