Trigger warning

How did we go from, did Israel bomb a hospital? To patients being killed by Israel in their masses and the hospitals becoming a war zone and cemetery.

It has been reported that there are so many dead bodies, they can't be buried. Dogs are actually eating them.

Israel-Gaza live news: WHO says Gaza's biggest hospital becoming a cemetery - BBC News

Kidney patients and premature babies are at risk, and the hospital's morgue is not functioning, the World Health Organization says.

Why use exclamation marks, FFS? Are you a Take A Break! sensationalist seeker?

Agree with “the horror of Gaza not needing embellishment”. I’m hiding your thread; the wording is sickening.

Reallifelurker · 14/11/2023 07:45

And exclamation marks like it's exciting 🙁

A sentence like the title warrants an exclamation mark to be fair - it’s pretty gross shocking.

SadTimes96 · 14/11/2023 08:51

I'll change the title. It is a horrible title but it's a horrible thing that is happening.

Would be nice if you could criticise the Israeli government for making this happen rather than me for simply relaying.

I'm trying to let people know how horrific this all is. Some people are still in denial.

@mumsnet please change the title to:

WHO: Palestinian hospital becoming a cemetery.

Al Jazeera reports that al-Shifa hospital director Mohammad Abu Salmiyah has said the hospital has been forced to bury 179 people, including babies and patients who died in the intensive care unit “in a mass grave” in the complex.

The claim has not been independently verified.

Guardian just now

Plus your thread title has already been changed

That's because Israel has blocked any independent journalists going into Gaza.

@mumsnet can you please change the title according to the relevant BBC article. "WHO: Gaza's biggest hospital becoming a cemetery"

Thank you

I always find it strange that we have to tone down what is happening in Gaza. :/ ... The reporting is always different to every other atrocity in the world.

OP posts:
Efacsen · 14/11/2023 09:12

@SadTimes96 aren't you pleased/relieved that the bodies outside Al Shifa have now apparently been buried and no longer subject to predation? Which was the original point you were making in your opening post tho' see you are now wanting to change that

There are already at least 2 threads about the shitshow that is happening at this hospital

GoodOldEmmaNess · 14/11/2023 09:16

Don't be ridiculous @SadTimes96. For one thing, your thread isn't 'reporting' the conflict. It is personal entertainment. We shouldn't kid ourselves that social media is actually contributing to any greater awareness, much less to a solution. It is mental chewing gum, nothing more.
For another, your thread tilte was absolutely sensationalst and exploitative, and would equally have been so if it related to any other conflict.
I've been following the Israeli-Palestinian conflict all my life; it has been a bloody running sore for decades. But now, with this particularly violent and appalling chapter, it seems to have become fodder for those on social media who enjoy the sense of being angry and right and important - to a far greater extent than it has been before. People who seem not to have followed the conflict over the years are glorying in righteous tribalism. Revolting.

Imagine you have relatives who have been killed in Gaza. How would your original thread title have made you feel?

Ohlalalalala · 14/11/2023 09:35

I honestly am amazed at the vitriol seemingly over a title because it is shocking to the eyes and all the bunfight over it, while the truth is much worse and the images coming from there are beyond shocking.

I didn't see this much indignation after the October 7th attacks when the DailyFail (et al.) was using Atrocity Propaganda to the extreme, and sooo many mumsnetters, who usually felt it was necessary to indicate that that paper was beneath them and they never read it, started thread after thread around those gory sensationalist headlines. They were quoting from it as if it was a rigorous academic research!

Pffff the hypocrisy!

@SadTimes96 "I always find it strange that we have to tone down what is happening in Gaza."
You're right unfortunately.

IClaudine · 14/11/2023 09:42

Ohlalalalala There was one line of particularly distressing detail in a BBC report. A detail that has not even been verified. OP chose to make it a thread title with added !!! for emphasis. MNHQ were right to change it to something more respectful.

SadTimes96 · 14/11/2023 10:12

That one line of distressing detail should be known. The IDF blocked people dead or alive from leaving the hospital. So yes, dogs were eating them. It is so awful what is happening. Why should people tone down what is happening to make other people feel better.

The doctor in Gaza mentioned that himself. So I think the people of Gaza want the world to know what is happening.

The detail is known and has now been reported widely as far as I can see. But that doesn't mean it is OK to make a sensationalist!!! thread title out of other people's misery.

Ah well MNHQ clearly thought the title was beyond the pale as they altered it before you started asking

backtowinter · 14/11/2023 10:35

GoodOldEmmaNess · 14/11/2023 07:38

What the hell is the point of your thread title? The atrocity of this war on Gaza is already being discussed on a million other threads but you still want to jump in, OP, and be the one who gleefully shares such an appalling detail?
You don't stop to think that such details are inevitable when there is enough carnage, so that nothing, absolutely nothing except the exploitation of war for your personal scrolling pleasure is being achieved by starting this thread?

100% this

Some of these threads are seriously disturbing and not for the subject matter.

It's like a game.

SadTimes96 · 14/11/2023 10:37

I think I know what the problem is. People are more likely to protest for a title than for international law being broken.

In the meantime people are still being killed and the genocide hasn't stopped. 2023. Who would have thought.

People are being killed in other parts of the world too and genocide is happening there as well, in 2023. It's awful but not a new thing. We just don't hear as much about it.

It is definitely awful and shouldn't happen anywhere in the world. This war is different though as our government are currently not supporting another genocide so openly.

Well, that's a different matter. Doesn't change anything for the people who are subject to it though and shouldn't change the way the media are reporting it.

Hamas have denied that they are in that hospital though. So far no Hamas fighters have been killed, just patients.

And why do you believe what terrorists say?

SadTimes96 · 14/11/2023 10:47

Alohapotato · 14/11/2023 10:44

And why do you believe what terrorists say?

All British mainstream news channels have not reported that Hamas fighters have been killed in Al-shifa hospital
Only patients have been killed.

Oxygen tanks have been bombed in several hospitals. This isn't just Hamas saying it, it is verified news.
