I know, it's absolutely disgusting isn't it. Never been so ashamed of the UK government 'standing' with IL. Unfortunately it's all about power and money. A lot of the world leaders don't care about if that means thousands of children being blown to pieces.

LethargicButAwesome · 06/11/2023 14:06

Im really struggling to concentrate @DottieMoon the video shook me. I feel so helpless.

SandyWaves · 06/11/2023 14:26

It is heart breaking, those poor children.

And no one is stopping them being bombed.

No ceasefire despite man y countries and the UN calling for it.

Yet in the UK, our government refuse to condemn this genocide.

And genocide is what it is. I am so angry about this, yet powerless to do anything. How can the world sit back and watch this happen.

I'm the same.

I didn't click on the video you posted but have seen similar and am really struggling.

I was also crying in work and had to step outside.

Listening to colleagues chat about holidays and home improvements and thinking "how can this be real? How can this be fair?" Really puts things in perspective.

I'm struggling to get my head around it. What on earth is wrong with people?

Also struggling with the fact that there's nothing I can do to help. I've donated money, and will donate more when I can, but realistically, the kids that survive this....what is going to make things better for them? They've lost their families and their homes. Not to mention the ones who will have lifelong injuries and the poor souls who were killed.

I just despair of humanity.

Allfourwalls · 06/11/2023 17:38

It's so sad. I feel like the governments around the world are just sat back watching it happen. There's nothing we can do. I've given a small donation to save the children even though it will make very little difference in the grand scheme of things.

The ones who survive or manage to leave will have an unbelievable amount of trauma for the rest of their life with the things they will have seen.

We have no idea how lucky we are in this country.

LethargicButAwesome · 06/11/2023 17:43

Its heart breaking. This is probably an awful thing to say but kids being orphaned and videos of children that have barely survived, their litttle confused faces seeking reassurance from older siblings that are barely older than them is almost worse than the piles of body bags. 😢 what kind of life is left for those that survive? Noone is there for them.

OP posts:
KenGirl · 22/11/2023 18:48

I have not been able to function or think of anything else than these children out there for weeks. I can not imagine anyone who is a mother, who can support the killing of these innocent children.

It is quite political and corrupt when you find out how deep the rabbit hole goes, how much our govts are involved, and why.

Raspberrymoon49 · 09/12/2023 04:25

Can’t watch the video, any child suffering too much to see, it’s a cruel and terrifying world for these poor little souls and feel so helpless in the face of such evil

dreamingdays · 09/12/2023 10:07

Not going to watch it but I am horrified at everything right now.

Solidarity with Palestinians everywhere. The world is watching what is going on and is horrified.

LethargicButAwesome · 09/12/2023 12:19

Absolutely @dreamingdays seems to be solidarity with Palestine with the expection of the US and UK leaders, who have the influence to try for a permanent ceasefire. This is mot okay.

I have seen similar videos.

One of the hardest things to stomach is that no-one really seems to be talking about this, or to be horrified and distressed by what is happening to these people.

I don’t expect better from our government, I already know how little humanity they have.

I expect more from others though.

When I visited Auschwitz years ago and saw what humans had done to each other, it seemed like something so horrific would never be repeated without the whole world condemning it.

But now the world is just sitting back, knowing what is happening in Gaza, and looking the other way it seems.

The “Israel has the right to defend itself” line seems meaningless.

This isn’t defence, it’s an ongoing and sustained slaughter of civilians, with the justification that “Hamas is amongst them”.

It looks like the intention now is to kill every single Palestinian, one way or another. If some do survive the bombings and starvation, they will be so traumatised that quality of life will never exist for them anyway.

I agree with @AngrySheep
Not only a brutal onslaught but to also demolish most of civilian infrastructure, so after the war Gaza will be largely uninhabitable

It's collective punishment in plain sight but seemingly blind to our government

Desertrose2023 · 09/12/2023 13:17

I know it doesn’t seem like it but this boy is one of the lucky ones. He’s alive (and I pray he still is). Theres so so much worse this. Yesterday a mother holding the body of her dead one year old weeping. Her own mother is trying to comfort her and she says “ mom I struggled so much to have him, I had to have 580 injections.” As someone who had fertility treatment it was a punch in the fucking gut to watch her weep over him. Another blogger in Gaza named Prince Kouta - a Canadian Palestinian medical doctor stuck in North Gaza - posted a photo he’d taken with a little girl in his neighborhood (max 3 years old) named Sooad who he’d said asked him for gum the day before. Next day he posts a video of her body wrapped in a blanket - dead from the bombing.

I have links but wont post them. Anyone who still supports what Israel is doing has no conscience in my opinion. I can’t believe some of the people on mumsnet - a parenting website- defend Israel. It’s terrifying.

jammysocks · 09/12/2023 13:24

It's taken the west a long time to see things like this. Because they are too busy listening and believing mainstream western media.

When the truth is shown to them they close their eyes and ignore. It took 2 months, (way too long) but the west is now waking up

jammysocks · 09/12/2023 13:24

@Desertrose2023 at this point.... are they the lucky ones? How are they going to love when this is over....

There's limited medical supplies etc now.

I've seen people saying it would have been better for them to have died and they wish they had. Just awful

Lifesd · 09/12/2023 14:00

I’m amazed how many people on these threads seem new to global conflicts and the suffering of children under regimes around the world. Twitter is also full of the terrible images of dead children in Yemen, Syria, (current death toll of children in Yemen stands at 11,000 with many more starving to death). Man’s inhumanity to man isn’t limited to the Palestine/Israel conflict and I will also say our government has very little say or influence over what Israel will do.

twilightmoon3 · 09/12/2023 14:29

Since you bring this up were you moved to highlight that suffering and try to prevent it. If not why is that relevant now. Many on the left have continously highlighted the tragedy in Yemen influcted by the Saudis with western weapons and will continue to do so. That tragic video of a poor boy shaking with fear and trauma is just one of many many thousands inflicted by indiscriminate Israeli bombing on civilian areas All lives matter, ceasefire now.

I haven’t seen our government announce though that they “stand with” Yemen or Syria, and put their flags up, and have the prime minister visit to show public support to aggressors.

Don't be so rude.

Lifesd · 09/12/2023 16:16

@AngrySheep we actively support the Saudis and sell them the weapons to carry out the bombings. I believe it is right we showed the flag on our government buildings after the terrorist attack in solidarity with the victims of that attack, I’m not sure it is being beamed onto buildings in support of the military bombing currently happening so it would be a mistake to conflate the two.
