Can you imagine what dying of starvation must feel like? Like, if we stop for a minute and think about that. Now imagine you’re a parent watching your children perish in this manner.

Aswad · 09/12/2023 21:28

@AngrySheep i will do the same…

stormy4319trevor · 09/12/2023 21:29

@Aswad Starvation is agonising. No parent should have to watch that happen to their child.

How do you feel about the starvation of people and amputee children in Gaza right now?
I feel sick thinking about it so I can empathize with the OP.
I came home, read the BBC live feed and watch the Channel Four news of the atrocities happening in Gaza being implemented by the IDF and cheered on by Israel and posters on here. Soul Destroying.
One small consolation is Labour starting to take a stand.

Parkingt111 · 09/12/2023 22:03

Watching any child in pain is extremely difficult. And it's true that in war its normally the death toll that is focused on and those who have been injured or suffering otherwise not so much

I have read many reports on MSM of parents who are desperate to find water for their children, Just enough to keep them alive. As a parent myself it's terrible to think what they must be feeling.
It's one thing to starve yourself, but watching your children starve and cry with hunger and thirst, knowing there is nothing you can do is unbearable.

Aswad · 09/12/2023 22:06

I couldn’t bear it when the LOs were in pain, even for something minor. Imagine facing the reality that you have to watch them die before your very own eyes.

Then why aren't other countries allowing Palestinians in?
Hello Egypt, Libya, Lebanon?

You should do some more research, this has been discussed many times. How can you still be asking this question?

Hint - it's not because they hate Palestinians.

SomeCatFromJapan · 09/12/2023 23:02

If starving children upset you, there are 85 thousand children dead of starvation in Yemen so far.

Not any Saturday demos though. Weird.

I really wish you and other posters would stop with the whataboutery and the attempts to make it seem that criticism of Israel by posters on here is just motivated by ‘Jew hate’.

the reason people here, including myself, are slamming Israel isn’t because we secretly all hate Jews and just want any excuse to criticize a Jewish state whilst we happily ignore suffering elsewhere. It’s because Israel is committing crimes against humanity on an unprecedented scale and due to the advent of social media people can now see these horrors in real time with their own eyes.

if you read the link you posted it says that 85,000 children died in Yemen from starvation over a period of 3 years. 85,000 deaths in 36 months is approximately 2,400 child deaths each month. That statistic is horrifying and it is still significantly less than the number children being killed each month in Gaza. More than 7,000 kids killed in Gaza in 2months from bombs alone. That figure doesn’t account for those likely dead and dying buried under the rubble of their homes. If the war on Gaza continues for 36 months based on current death figures that would mean more than 250,000 Palestinian children would be killed directly from bombing alone. The indirect deaths from starvation, disease are likely to make that final figure much, much higher. Let alone those left orphaned, disabled, burned etc.

thats where the outrage is coming from and why there are Saturday demos every week.

Desertrose2023 · 10/12/2023 05:21

apologies - correction to my post above - that should read more than 126,000 Palestinian children would be killed directly from Israeli bombs if this death rate continues for 36 months, not 250,000.

I don't support Hamas, therefore I am not vermin.

It’s not just Hamas, generally speaking the human race is an abomination. Time and time again over the course of history, we’ve proven it.

Again, as its dangerous in Gaza why aren't neighbouring countries letting them in.
Loads of oil-rich neighbouring countries.

And exactly how is a country supposed to send a clear message that its unacceptable to murder and kidnap its people?

Which are the neighboring oil=rich countries?

Because very simply everyone knows Israel would never allow them back. That’s what happened in 1948 when the Palestinians were ethnically cleansed the first time. You only need to listen to the rhetoric from Netanyahu’s government to understand that their end goal is the forced displacement of these people so Israel can seize the territory.

Without Hammas there would be no Conflict in the ME board. You would be knitting on the couch with a glass of Lambrini. I'm happy to be ignored by the echo.

You spelled israel wrong.

Not any Saturday demos though. Weird.

Yemen is a civil war. Coalition partners are there at the invitation of the internationally recognised government.

Saudi Arabia is not only one of the belligerents but is the second largest donor of funds for humanitarian aid and is neither preventing aid from reaching the people who need it or preventing non combatants from leaving areas to find safety.

The population of Yemen is over 32 million, 16 times the size of the Gaza population. Approximately 8000 children have been killed in Gaza in 2 months. If the rate was the same in Yemen then that horrific figure of 85,000 would be 2.3 million. Do you understand the scale of what is happening in Gaza yet? No child should starve or be bombed to death.

Do I care? Yes I do. Afghanistan was experiencing famine when we decided to invade and over 20 years later I still think about the people who might have died from starvation. There are plenty of aid agencies taking donations if what is happening in Yemen is more than just whataboutery to you.

It is not a mystery or. ‘Weird’. as you put it.

We think of Israelis as coming from amongst ourselves and belonging to the modern apparently civilised west with distinct values of its own. The Israeli regime’s bombs are being paid for by the USA and they are also being backed by us.

So we are helping to cause this orphaning, maiming, starvation and trauma.

We can have a say.

Quite. Netanyahu’s party was founded on the principle that from the river to the sea would be under Israel’s rule.

The context and the intent is key. The founding charter of Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party trolls:

“Between the sea and the Jordan there will only be Israeli sovereignty.”

Man's inhumanity to man (usually men not women) has no bounds although Israel is certainly on the side of right in my view in the current conflict. Pakistan is sending 1.7m Afghanistanians back to Afghanistan and Iran is sending many back too.

Hamas however brought this on itself as it knew full well when it gave Israel the equivalent of the US 9/11. There is little Hamas would not do even using its people as human shields. The sooner Israel wins the better.

What do you mean by win? Is it the total destruction of Gaza and its inhabitants by any means ( bombing/starvation/ diseases)? Do you support this?
If you believe that by getting rid of Hamas, the Israeli people will be safe, you are seriously mistaken. The Israeli government are creating new terrorists because of what they are doing now to an entire people. They are creating anti semitism all over the world because some people cannot discern between being anti the Israeli government and being anti Jews.

Israel was given the land by Britain who owned it at the time. There is no apartheid in Israel, all its citizens are treated equally. War started by the other side is not ethnic cleansing but Palestine's actions on October 7th can certainly be read that way.

I have no words.
