As of Saturday, Turkey is the latest of a handful of nations to recall their ambassadors to Israel, following in the footsteps of Honduras, Bahrain, Chile, Colombia, and Jordan. These decisions came after Bolivia became the first nation to fully cut diplomatic ties with Israel over its treatment of Palestinians in Gaza since October 7.

NATO member joins growing list of countries recalling Israel ambassadors

Turkey said in a statement that it made the decision in part due to "Israel's refusal of calls for ceasefire."

Not that erdogan is any better than his Israel peer 🤔 but in this one I’ll support him

Israel current actions are leaving a terrible legacy for its citizens.

It is creating a life of fear where ever the go.
How is that a victory?

Bolivia may be a small country but it is often the small voices which are the most powerful.

What is Israel without the support of the US and UK?

And the UK is not the powerhouse it likes to think it is and Will be a weaker nation furtherdown the line when Scotland gets independence.

God forbid Scotland ever gets independence.

Bolivia severs diplomatic ties with Israel, citing 'crimes against humanity'

The moral compass of the world's "leaders" is seriously misaligned with that of the populations.

Forsakenalmosthuman · 08/11/2023 07:25

Bolivia weren't so bothered about such crimes when they played haven to high-ranking Nazis after the war, including Klaus Barbie, who didn't get the nickname The Butcher of Lyon because he sold deli meats at reasonable prices.

South Africa's ruling ANC, and particularly Naledi Pandor, enthusiastically backs Hamas and certainly hasn't taken issue with them for their part in this, calling the 7 October attack "unsurprising", so their response to Israel is more ideological than any fit of conscience.

Ohlalalalala · 14/11/2023 19:54

I posted about Belize in Central America 🙄
South Africa will always stand with Palestine as they know what Apartheid is. Anyone with a conscience will do that, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.

Unfortunately conscience is something missing in a lot of posters here. Their utter belief that everyone is antisemitic unless they think exactly like them is frightening.
Their hatred of the Palestinian people and belief that their lives simply don't count says everything about their arrogance and blinkered world view. No matter how many die in Palestine they shrug their shoulders and say but what about us? I often wonder what the jews in WW2, segregated and annihilated would think of their descendants now, doing the same to the Palestinian people. I think they would be in utter disbelief that no one has learned anything from WW2, especially the jews in Israel.

Shame on them.

Ballsbaill · 14/11/2023 22:41

Bolivia is the world’s third largest producer of cocaine. Warnings about visiting regarding the demonstrations in their own country. Perhaps they should clean their own country up first.

Are you lot bored of Ukraine and Sudan now? This is the new hobby?

SomeCatFromJapan · 14/11/2023 22:44

Presumably they've learned to fight back? They were attacked last month. They're ensuring it doesn't happen again.

I don't agree with absolutely everything Israel do by a long shot but I don't really see what choice they have in this particular instance.

ssd · 14/11/2023 22:56

They are ensuring it doesn't happen again

Do you really believe that? Isn't it obvious the children that actually live through this will be the hamas or similar of the future? Do you really believe this won't happen and the Palestinians will conveniently forget what has happened?

The terror attacks of the future will be being nurtured in Palestinian children right now. The UK will be on their radar and we'll all need to be aware. Our government have led us to be seen as in total agreement with Israel and the Palestinians won't forget.

SomeCatFromJapan · 14/11/2023 22:57

I'm glad the families of the over two million German civilians killed in the second world war didn't feel that way, and didn't launch terrorist attacks against the UK.

ssd · 15/11/2023 09:00

Are you being deliberately obtuse @SomeCatFromJapan ?

SomeCatFromJapan · 15/11/2023 09:02

I'm just a bit shocked that you'd accuse Palestinians of being somehow prone to being terrorists.

Allfourwalls · 15/11/2023 09:03

Well done Bolivia. Hopefully more countries will follow.

OuiOuiKitty · 15/11/2023 09:54

It's not really the same thing is it? Have the been illegally occupied and terrorised for decades? Have they had their land continually stolen? Have they had their fathers and brothers arrested, torutured and held with charge? Have they had their economy purposefully strangled taking away opportunities? Have they had their infrastructure continually bombed? Have they had their water purposefully restricted? Do you really not know what has happened to Palestinians for decades or are you being purposefully obtuse by pretending this conflict is a one off thing not the culmination of decades of oppression and killing? Palestinian children will know this, they will know their history and this latest murderous spree will just add to the hate they feel towards their occupiers. Pretending that there is no reason for Palestinians to hate Israel helps no one. Pretending that Israel aren't ruthless illegal occupiers helps no one.
