Because telling Netanyahu ‘I want you to win’ means you accept that thousands of innocent people will die and that that isn’t a problem for you; it means you’re the kind of human being that can still sleep at night despite everything we are seeing on our screens

And if Hamas win, Israel is wiped out.
Believe me I don't like any of this bloodshed in the slightest but Hamas could surrender right now and end this.

I don’t believe Israel can eradicate Hamas in the way it’s attempting to do. When I see innocent children left without a single member of their family alive, I think Israel is creating the Hamas of tomorrow. This will never lead to peace and security for Israelis or Palestinians.
Hamas can surrender, yes. Will that stop Israel from ever killing innocent Palestinians again?

You are showing your true self here. Mocking both a small nation and the murder of innocent refugees. You should be ashamed. Especially as someone who goes round reporting threads and accusing posters of all sorts. It is really not a good look.

I honestly don't care what you think.

I'm not ashamed.

I won't apologise for being a big fat fucking Zionist.

SparkleFromWithin · 01/11/2023 18:35

@PurpleChrayne of course you won't, and you're not the only one. The masks are falling and the true ugly face of Zionism is becoming clear for the world to see.

Such a powerhouse that they couldn’t stop/prevent the horrific events of October 7th, despite all their military might and intelligence.

And, btw, I doubt any of us believed for a second that Israel would care about the step Bolivia has taken. Rather, it is hoped that this will lead to other countries doing the same.

You know "pisher of a nation" actually sounds ... really racist!

Also: Israel's claim to being a "democracy" is, quite frankly, somewhat tenuous - at best - when it exerts control, with an iron fist, not only over the Palestinians of Gaza and the West Bank but also, and most blatantly: the Palestinian population of East Jerusalem, who were not afforded rights of citizenship when the state of Israel moved to "annex" (not internationally recognised!) only the territory but without affording the people who lived and still live there the rights of citizens! When these exact people are currently being threatened with expulsion to ... good question, seeing as they were born there! ... for "this WhatsApp message sounds disloyal".

None of "you get to vote for your favourite flavour of ethno-nationalist - so long as you are the right kind of person (or grandfathered in, because we only had the much better idea later)" sounds particularly "democratic".

These are all good points and I don't necessarily disagree with any of them. Mostly it feels like an impossible situation at present. No easy answers, huge polarisation and people caught up in the middle of it all suffering and dying.

grottyb · 01/11/2023 19:25

@HeidiInTheBigCity

But then, I would have long expected my government to display the same committment to humanity here, at home!

Thats why I asked

Then you SHOULD HAVE asked, and: I am sorry if I misunderstood you!

Because, really, we both, we ALL deserve better - both on domestic AND on foreign policy!

Yes, I can imagine your ranting and raving if anyone described Israel as you described Bolivia. Luckily no-one else is quite as childish or xenophobic.
I don't understand the need for silly posts that, to be blunt, are just making an arse of yourself.
It gets you some attention, sure, so maybe that feels good, I guess. However there are many posters with differing views who make interesting points and can make a good and insightful debate. They tend to get more engagement without coming across like a child.

err @HeidiInTheBigCity I did ask…🤔

Okay ... we appear to be having a "heated topic, consent rare" moment here!

What I now believe you meant: "but what about domestic policy?"
What I meant: "you were in the right ["you should have" - not as in "but you failed to" but as in "you did and I agree that you should have"]

I meant to apologise on the grounds that I may have misunderstood you.

Anyway, I will stand by "Rishi needs to go - and I excpect better on both foreign and domestic policy!"

Sunak is a spineless scumbag. Playing at being PM because he's bored with all the money he has. A little hobby for him.....until shit gets serious then he has to hide behind Biden's skirts.

And that useless Starmer is no better. He doesn't know what time of day it is. Stupid, dithering charlie.

100%

I wrote to MPs ,councillors etc asking them to call for cease fore and stop the killings.
Got a pathetic response back Israel has the right.

So replied telling them
To hang their heads in shame as they are supporting a genocide no matter how they dress it up.

Tossers that they are.
Green party have called for a ceasefire.

I really respect that. I know it does not mean anything will stop but at least it shows someone has some humanity.

Israel current actions are leaving a terrible legacy for its citizens.

It is creating a life of fear where ever the go.
How is that a victory?

Bolivia may be a small country but it is often the small voices which are the most powerful.

What is Israel without the support of the US and UK?

And the UK is not the powerhouse it likes to think it is and Will be a weaker nation furtherdown the line when Scotland gets independence.

Bolivia 🤔

Coyoacan · 01/11/2023 22:21

FOJN · 31/10/2023 21:54

I agree. Bolivia doesn't have a great human rights record, if they are so appalled they are willing to cut diplomatic ties then it probably means you're doing something really bad.

What's our excuse? Sunak is fucking spineless. Someone should tell him the Palestinians don't have time for subtle diplomacy, they need help right now.

Edited

Sorry FOJN, but Bolivia is a democracy with a very popular government. It has suffered a number of coups in the past but it's doing well now.

PurpleOrchid42 · 01/11/2023 22:22

It is abundantly obvious at this point that Isreal have become the monster. And in that way, Hamas have won. It is absolutely shockingly sad that the nation of Israel, founded after the holocaust, should now be the perpetrator of such a terrible act. 50% of the population of Gaza are children. WHAT ARE THEY THINKING?????

Israel a powerhouse?

Only with the help of US and UK.

US won't be strong when China whips it backside and UK.is getting weaker by the minute. Let Scotland get its independence.

Who will Israel go to then?
Acting like they are Europeans in the middle east.

The Israel government is far right.

Benjamin N has encouraged the war to avoid prison.

Hopefully he will be tried for war crimes too.

Also the UN are calling for the attack on the Jabaliya camp as a War crime
Finally having it called for what it is

Our government is firing politicians who dare call for a ceasefire! Ceasefire, can you believe it?
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/sunak-paul-bristow-gaza-ceasefire-b2438564.html

"Paul Bristow, a parliamentary private secretary (PPS) at the science department, had called for a “permanent” ceasefire in Gaza in a letter to Mr Sunak.

The MP for Peterborough said it “would save lives and allow for a continued column of humanitarian aid [to] reach the people who need it the most”.

The response from No 10 was swift – sacking the senior Tory for breaking “collective responsibility”".

Democracy and free speech hey? When free speech is free only selectively it ceases to be free.
