There have been arrests for hate crimes during the march, chanting for jihad, banners in support of hamas specifically, placards with photos of jihadi paragliders, you can Google it if interested

From BBC
Of the nine arrests made, seven were for alleged public order offences, a number of which were being treated as hate crimes, and two were for suspected assaults on officers.

so where does your comment come from for saying half of those attending yesterdays march support a terrorist group ? Apart from your aim to derail this thread with false accusations?

Finlesswonder · 29/10/2023 07:43

@EasterIssland

It's just my assumption really, this thread is full of them but I get you prefer to deal in cold hard facts so maybe that was "unfair". Where is your source for there having been "a million" at the march? I can't find anything 🤔

I saw it on Twitter so I totally accept it might be a wrong number. However im not challenging you on your info about 100k but your other half of the sentence. And no this thread is not full of assumptions but full of info of where the demos are happening apart from a few comments that have tried to derail the actual info about the demos

Stopactingsosmall · 29/10/2023 07:50

Where is your humanity? Why you deliberately trying to undermine peopels intention? What is your evidence of this?

I forgot to quote the poster who is saying those who are protesting are fundamentalist Islamic violent people.

BethDuttonsTwin · 29/10/2023 07:52

Good posts @Finlesswonder

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/10/2023 07:54

It'll be Twitter - I guarantee it Hmm

queenofarles · 29/10/2023 07:55

wow! Half of them marching not for peace !!!
So around 250k?
Streets must have been in absolute carnage !

Even if people held up signs of watermelons ,which is a symbol of the Palestinian flag , people like you , would still complain and throw accusations around like fundamentalism to shut down anything that highlights what’s happening in Gaza right now.

EasterIssland · 29/10/2023 07:56

Just saw the info about bristols which is happening today

finlesswonder do you know where else in the world people where chanting hate speech and threatening with violence ? In Israel , Israeli were chanting “Death to Arabs” in Netanya and trying to break down gate to attack Palestinian students.

Finlesswonder · 29/10/2023 08:24

@Puzzledandpissedoff
How did you know?! 😅

@EasterIssland
I guess that makes two of us plucking figures out of our arses 😃

Finlesswonder · 29/10/2023 08:25

@queenofarles
I don't really care what people do in Israel. I'm British and I care about what happens in the streets of Britain

I don't dispute this, still a low number of offences when HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS who attended. HATE crimes are public order offences, and can range from hateful abuse to very minor conduct, very subjective as relies on perception. In the current pro Israeli government police are under a lot of scrutiny and have to make example to appease the home secretary who will appease other " forces" and daily mail etc. I don't excuse violence especially on our police, if two officers were unfortunately assaulted, still low number as HUNDREDS of officers were on duty to cover this protest. Just my opinion others may disagree.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/10/2023 08:30

I didn't at the time, but see it's since been confirmed ... quelle surprise Hmm

You should " care" what goes on in Israel as it is the root of what people protesting about in this and other countries. But you do " care" otherwise you would not be reading this thread.

did you have the same stance when people marched against the war on Ukraine or is it just the sight of a mostly muslim march that you find outrageous ?

GrumpyPanda · 29/10/2023 11:22

Myrestingwitchface · 28/10/2023 09:41

What despicable nonsense.
The PSC have been campaigning for freedom, justice & equality for Palestinians for a long time and it’s really important that we all makes our voices heard and demand a ceasefire. OP hope you’re able to join the march today.

So there won't be any "from the river to the sea" and the organizers will eject anyone using that chant?

and these were half of the marchers?
and please note that an arrest doesn't make someone guilty of anything.
Otherwise those demonstrators at the coronation would have already been banged up/heavily fined/had their heads chopped off for treason.

NmeChngeFail · 29/10/2023 11:48

From the rivers to the sea isn't anti semitic, stop trying it.

Sourisblanche · 29/10/2023 11:58

We came across the march while out sightseeing in London with our teens. It was peaceful as far as we could see. We certainly didn’t feel threatened. I also believe there were Jewish people on the march and a Jewish speaker at the end.

I think this awful bombardment of Gaza is less popular than we’ve been led to believe, on all sides.

ChickHenLittle · 29/10/2023 14:05

Some photos from marches around the world.

@Worriedmum40284 the point of view of people who chant "free Palestine" is that Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, shouldn't exist. They are calling for the destruction of Israel, and we all know what that means.

The people who rip down posters of kidnapped and murdered Israeli children think that they deserved it and just don't care what happened to them

@FromEden The "Free Palestine" chant is not anti semitic. It is calling for freedom from violent displacement, exclusion and discrimination.

There are always a few far right nutters who tarnish things, they can be Muslim, Jewish or White supermecists....they are in all social groups.
