A vigil for the Middle East - please sit with me

For all those who will lose so much tonight and have lost so much in the last three weeks. I pray for civilians in Israel and Gaza.

I don’t want to argue, I’m exhausted by it all. I’m just lying silently in the dark, thinking (and praying) for them. Please sit with me.

I heard some beautiful prayers on Radio 3’s evensong yesterday.

One was along the lines of: we pray for those we have lost; those who we mourn and those whose names we will never know. 🕯️

I also pray one of the standard evensong collect prayers for those continuing to face uncertainty, loss and death: lighten our darkness, we beseech the O Lord, and save us from all perils and dangers of the night. 🕯️

I have no god to pray to anymore but as I look out on the utter peace of an autumn lake at sunset I wish some of that peace for others who need it.

How horrific. Just read that Gaza's largest hospital has lost power completely. 🙏
