A vigil for the Middle East - please sit with me

For all those who will lose so much tonight and have lost so much in the last three weeks. I pray for civilians in Israel and Gaza.

I don’t want to argue, I’m exhausted by it all. I’m just lying silently in the dark, thinking (and praying) for them. Please sit with me.

Everyone should have the right to live in peace. I don't know how the human spirit bears so much but much love and strength to those humans who will have to find out.

In case it’s helpful, Pope Francis put it as follows (I hope referring to the Pope doesn’t annoy anyone - regardless of religion, I found the sentiments inspiring):

Inspire the leaders of nations to seek paths of peace;
Touch the hearts of those imprisoned by hatred;
Convert those who fuel and foment conflict;
Dry the tears of children, be present to those who are elderly and alone;
Strengthen the wounded and the sick;
Protect those forced to leave their lands and their loved ones;
Console the crestfallen;
Awaken new hope.

I’m here too, can’t sleep, it’s just too awful for words. I posted on my fb earlier, not even one acknowledgment or a sad emoji, nothing, or even a difference of opinion. The picture of my dog earlier today got 40 odd likes and comments, do people really not care ? I feel like I’m seeing my friends and family in a new light.

🕯️Thank you for this OP. I've been praying for peace in the region daily since it began. It feels like the only thing I can do to help. I can't bear to follow the news, as its so distressing and I've got mental health challenges as it is. So praying is all I have left. Good to join with you all. I'm a Christian, but join with those of all faiths and none here ❤️

Seeing those bombs landing- three per minute one journalist counted last night, only makes me think there are babies and children that have just been killed.

How can the world not do anything. This has to stop.

My heart goes out to the people of Gaza and the innocent hostages, all of whom must be absolutely terrified.
