A vigil for the Middle East - please sit with me

For all those who will lose so much tonight and have lost so much in the last three weeks. I pray for civilians in Israel and Gaza.

I don’t want to argue, I’m exhausted by it all. I’m just lying silently in the dark, thinking (and praying) for them. Please sit with me.

I’m so disappointed that at the rally in London there are loudspeaker chants of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free." I wish the focus right now could be an end to the killing on both sides.

I am avoiding the news TBH because it really messes with my head . I had my granddaughter staying last night and she woke up crying and scared .Not sure why ,but she came into my bed and I cuddled her all night.
Cannot imagine any child ,anywhere not having that security and the thought that parents are unable to shield and protect their little ones is beyond my comprehension.
Am not religious but pray anyway. 😢💕

Another day down with more deaths, no hostage release, and no more certainty on the way forward.

Lighten their darkness, O Lord, and protect them from all perils and dangers of the night.

Please, please, please, let there be peace. I don't know how to solve the conflict and way more knowledgeable people than me have failed. But terrorism and retaliatory bombs cannot be the answer.

Thinking of all of the civilians who have been killed in Israel and Gaza and those still in danger and those mourning. Praying for peace.

Praying for all the civilians in Gaza and especially around the main hospital which they fear could be a target housing 1400 people. I'm also thinking about all the Jewish families where another day has passed without their loved ones 💔 🙏

Just come to spend a few more minutes sitting here quietly with you this evening. Thinking of those suffering pain, fear, loss, and horror.

Thank you. I’m doing the same, just having a quiet moment sitting in the dark. I’m thinking about the horrific human stories coming out of Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, and meditating on the hope that the leaders of all countries will realise the need to stop the killings and for humanity to win.

Please please please can the bombing in southern Gaza and the West Bank stop, and hostages be released and electricity restored, at the very least 🕯️
