So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

Unbuffy Great news! Sorry that other people aren't having a great time at the moment.

Thanks all for your advice re the spa visit. I think I will go, but will reserve final judgement till nearer the time.

Today I did my first un-romantic thing whilst TTC - I got the calendar out at tea time and told my DH when would be a good time to take me to bed! As he often works late (self -employed), I have booked him for Mon, Weds, Thurs, Fri and Sat for good luck! I will be amazed if we have all this bedroom action, but we both agreed that we had to go for it and he wanted to know the best time! So, ladies, wish me luck this week. If we succeed, we will never have had so much action in 1 week!!!!!! Oh and did I mention we have the builder in all week and will have no floor in the lounge? We live in a terrace so this will mean going round the side of the house to access the kitchen. I think it's going to be a busy week, but it's only 4 days long!!!

randomimposter · 28/03/2010 22:03

Urd so sorry, what a terrible shock. I have lost both parents, Mum at 58 from cancer, Dad at a good old age of 84 (21 years apart, he wasn't a cradle snatcher...). Neither a "shock" as such, but all losses are awful to deal with. Thinking at you at this most difficult time.

Unbuffy great news - the grads will look after you. Will pop in to say hi. Take care. And do pop back, our other recent BFPs seem to have disappeared

MrsG a million years ago (ok pre-DS) I managed retail HR functions (frankly all the law details were too complicated for my small fluffy brain, so I spent my time designing parties and coaching directors to be better managers), but anyway, will check out the other thread and if I can offer advice I will. Sorry to hear it.... it is the MOST disappointing thing when a business you love shits on your plate. For want of a better phrase...

cheepz SO good to hear from you. HUGE squeeze for you. I can imagine your DS (is it Ted, great name BTW) is an extra special comfort.. is he in "your house"? Was that the phrase?

Hi to all. Have had several LARGE glasses of SB tonight, sadly not Oyster Bay, that cheeky mare Barrenbrook has had it all...

MrsGazebo · 28/03/2010 23:42

Ikkle Doogie Howser all growded upded.
Bless 'im.
Don't forget Nathan Fillion Clareanna
Mmmmm...

Good isn't it.
We haven't D.L'd all 3 episodes at all and I would never recommend doing so.

WYG good luck

Jolls you obviously didn't work for the same company as me then.
Don't want to rant on here
< mumble, mumble>

Cheepz · 28/03/2010 23:47

jolls thanks, have started bleeding heavily - i know you did too last month waiting for ERPC - how long did it last? the really heavy bleeding, and did you have to have a checkup to make sure all gone? not sure what to do if it seems like it has all happened naturally - which i would prefer.

Cheepz · 29/03/2010 00:07

jolls and yes - Ted has been spending extra time 'in my house' which has been a great comfort. xx thanks for remembering made me

MrsGazebo · 29/03/2010 00:24

Cheepz Go in.

Sorry, that's wrong of me.
I can't tell you what to do but it may take a while and may not be pleasant to experience over a more prolonged period of time.

AlbaDeTamble · 29/03/2010 08:32

Hi all, cheepz hang in there, really the worst, sorry you're going through it all. As MrsG says, if it gets too much go in. Can be cathartic to do it naturally but it can go on a very long time.

Thanks all for kind words, but was so early it's really not more than disappointment of rtd arriving... However, it hasn't yet. Day 29 and still neg tests... WTF cycle was only 24 days... I haven't been this late for many years.... and a bit frustrated. But I guess this is not so unusual, just need to sit tight and wait to see what happens...

unbuffy so glad you got a proper bfp . nice to read happy news on a Monday morning

waves to all

Cheepz · 29/03/2010 08:35

has lightened up, so i think am going to need to go in Wednesday so they can see whats happening and decide if they need to do a procedure or not. Worth having them check - even if over the next 48 hours it seems to happen by itself. Its a relief that things are moving. Its abit in limbo the waiting. Having said that it did give me time to get over the initial shock which has been helpful

I am going shopping today for shoes, books, fancy face cream and some super big pads!

randomimposter · 29/03/2010 09:01

cheepz I think you should always trust your instincts.... but in terms of procedure/protocol suspect it varies from area to area. Because there was/is such a waiting list for ERPC in my area at the moment, think they were keen to re-scan me so that if surgery unnecessary they could free up the slot.

So I had cramps for a few hours before the bleeding started, bled very very heavily for 5 hours (Thursday), and then it was just like a heavy period for 5 days, then a lighter one for another 5. Was re-scanned on the Monday, ERPC would have been the Tues.

If you think you've lost the bulk of what's there (IYKWIM) maybe phone the EPU and ask what they would advise?

Enjoy your shopping, and make sure you spend BIG x

Wave to all. Off to look at some nurseries this morning for DS, only for one day a week, but will still feel strange .

littlemiss72 · 29/03/2010 09:18

Monring all, back to Monday all over again!

Sorry to hear we are all on a down at the moment, it's always so when things happen like this however we do have each other to support (((((GROUP HUG)))))

cheepz dito on the advice, go in anyway, no harm in that. Take care of yourself and spend spend spend!

We booked our summer holiday online last night, 3 weeks in August. I was fine until I realised it would have been aroun the time I had my baby - had I not have had a mmc in Feb.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. In the tww stage now although no signs as of yet..

WYG go for it woman!

Happy Monday all x

LucyT66 · 29/03/2010 10:04

Morning all.

Thanks Mrs G - you are a lovely bunch!
Cheepz - take good care of yourself.
Unbuffy - big congratulations.
littlemiss72 - the significant dates are tough, but a holiday is such a good thing to look forward to. I keep putting off booking something in case we need to go for some fertility assistance and it costs a fortune. But, boy, do I feel like I need some sun.

Waves to everyone else and sorry for not namechecking all.

Thought I'd take it upon myself to attempt The List. Will try not to muck it up! Unbuffy, I've moved you to grads but wasn't sure what date to put for BFP so you can change that.

Happy day to all xx

Goodluckbear · 29/03/2010 10:32

I'm sorry I didn't get online over the weekend.

Urd - I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. Thinking of you and your family at this time.

Cheepz - I don't have the words to express it properly, can't believe how unfair it is, utter pants. I hope the next few days/weeks go ok and will be thinking of you.

Alba - so sorry about your news, it's sad. I think you have the right idea to book something in to look forward to, you are a brave and strong lady.

Ummmm, want to cry but I'm at my desk!! Might pretend I'm crying because it's nearly quarter end.

MrsG - I haven't read your other thread but I'm already feeling outraged so I might just hold back until lunchtime and then stomp around the office loudly on your behalf. I realise my office is probably not near yours and so probably won't have much effect, but by god I can stomp good and loud.

I agree with Littlemiss about the group hug. I realise I said that would be a Friday tradition and then I didn't come online on Friday and insist on it. So it's to be a Monday super group hug, and we're putting Urd, Cheepz, Alba, and anyone else who's having a hard time in the middle, and now we all shuffle round and hug it out. But gently because we don't want to squeeze too hard.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

bigmuther65 · 29/03/2010 10:34

urd i am so sorry for your loss your dad sounds like a wonderful man.
Littlemiss we to have booked a holiday for august which is when i would of been due at least will have some thing to look forward to that month.
Cheepz sorry that you have had to come back to this thread life is so crap some times.
Just a question about what the ladies who are waiting ttc are doing for contraception. We need to wait about 3mths,but i don,t what to take or use any contraception as it can mess up your cycle, and when we are ready to try again want it to happen as quick as possible.Don,t think my DH could wait 3 mths with no sex he would be a night mare to life with

HappyGirl1 · 29/03/2010 12:45

WYG - Best of Luck this week and hope ye enjoy all the TTC

Urd so so sorry to hear about your loss. Words just aren't enough at all. Thinking about you all weekend.

Cheepz just devastated to hear your news also. life is so unfair.

Well I was at my GP today, she didn't examine or check and basically said to come back in 2 weeks time. Wednesday next week will be the same time as the MC last time round so if it's okay I'd like to wait to move to the Grads until hopefully fingers crossed I reach that. I'm just so so nervous. I took another CB digital at weekend and the hormone levels hadn't increased so going to do one again today to check if it's gone up at all.

Hugs to all

Allthe8s · 29/03/2010 13:30

Bonjour laydeez, sorry not been in for a few days but have had a royally SHIT few days and I cannot believe how much mine and poor DHs emotions have been tested. I am very grateful to have a fabulous MIL for really does just listen and nothing else! Anyway not going into details as am feeling better now so don't want to dwell!

I can't remember where I left off.....I really hope that those who were having a crap time of it and found yourself back in our caring arms are holding up and I wish this week be better for you all and Urd.......I'm so very sorry to hear the news of your dad I am thinking of you xxxxx

Fingers crossed for Happygirl1 and WYG I love your style! Bigmuther I am glad to hear you have a holiday booked

MrsG DO NOT take any crap from work, I was a week away from my 10 day Employment Tribunal Hearing after I was excluded from meetings, had my pay fiddled, treated horrendously and then made redundant 2 weeks before I went on maternity leave. I was successful and suing them was worth every tear and stress. I worked for a Solicitors - you'd have thought they would have known better. Document everything and call ACAS for initial advice. Here to help if you need pointing in any direction re employment law.

Sorry not to name check everyone but I hope everyone else is doing ok - I have some lemon polenta cake for afternoon tea if you fancy a slice?

x

hotcrossbunnies · 29/03/2010 14:36

just being quick but the december bus has disappeared from my view,

can someone link it for me please

Thank you, will be back to read and comment later.

Muser · 29/03/2010 16:03

Afternoon all. Did I congratulate Unbuffy? If not, big congrats!

There is some cause for celebration in the Muser household. The droid has arrived, so now the ectopic really does seem to be over. Still have to wait until May/June for the SWI but that'll come soon enough.

liahgen66 · 29/03/2010 16:30

hi all

So sosorry to hear your news urd what a horrible shock for you and your family. Wishing you peace for the next few weeks and may they be as smooth as they can be.

buffy wicked, well done you, congratulations Here's to a few more following you.

Ooh yes please to lemon polenta cake.

Am 7 days to go till rtd day. No symptom spotting here, can't really be bothered to be honest.

Weyhey muser seems a bit wrong to be celebrating arrival but you know what we mean eh?

bigmuther maybe you could just use withdrawal? Wouldn't want to get mixed up in hormones right now, or just condoms?

VivClicquot · 29/03/2010 16:44

Hi everyone x

I'm having a shitty day full of shitty people. In summary:

Mood status = foul
Lunch status = One chocolate eclair.
Plans for this evening = So much wine. Lovely lovely wine.

... which I hope you agree makes this the quintessential post on our lovely thread.

Liah - you and I seem to be cycle twins. I'm not symptom spotting either as every twinge over the last two months has only led to serious disappointment. I'm expecting RTD on either Sat or Sun and have had nothing symptom-wise, other than a spotty facial break-out.

Right. Am off to purchase some Oyster Bay.

OP posts:
Muser · 29/03/2010 16:50

bigmuther we're going the condoms route. The GP did force me to take away a prescription for the pill but I can't face taking it. I'd rather just go with condoms. Not that we're having much sex at the moment! We weren't allowed to while I was being treated and now I think I might have forgotten how.

littlemiss72 · 29/03/2010 18:07

Afternoon all, well that's Monday out the way at least!

viv & liah right behind you both, not symptom spotting either as it will just drive me nuts. I had a feeling boobies moment in the gym changing rooms earlier though

Agree with Allthe8s MrsG document everything you can, keep strong and fight your corner! If they know you mean business I'm sure they will back down in the end.

Had an invite to apply for another role in the same company today, right up my street however all I could think was I don't want to start a new role because I'm ttc . Will have to think long an hard before applying as I do wonder if it's worth lunging into bigger role right now.

Ooh is it the last episode of 'married, single, other tonight? balled me eyes out last week, not sure I can face it again .

clareanna · 29/03/2010 19:16

littlemiss it's so tricky trying to plan life around ttc.
Yesterday I was in full teenage strop mode- all foot stamping and it's SO unfair etc about life and the fact I'm not having a baby when I thought I was. Today (and after last weeks temporary symptom spotting insanity) I have decided to follow that famous quote "life's what happens while you're making other plans."
I'm going to get back to the diet, book things for the summer to enjoy and hope that life takes over again.

Hopefully this new optimism will last longer than my next cycle!!!!

So- I reckon go for the job- you've been internally headhunter for it which must be v flattering- good luck with your decision x
