So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

Hello all, been busy in my absence I see!

What a lovely sunny Sunday Well done Alba I bet your feeling very smug taking the train! DP was stuck in Geneva from Thursday. 4 men on a mission decided to hire a car and drive to the ferry in France.. he returned home Saturday looking very shipwrecked!

Spepnt the weekend home making with DP, ikea, John Lewis and B&Q under my belt..what was I thinking

Limbering up for the 3rd round of swi this month, at least I know DP can't head off anytime soon to Monaco or Geneva and mess up my cunning plan.

Happy Sunday all x

Pollyanna · 18/04/2010 15:50

hi all, haven't been here for ages - we are currently stranded in the alps (unlike Alba we came by plane!).

have zero chance of getting pg this month - had about a 15 day heavy period, and then fertility friend said I had ovulated! any swi was severely curtailed by aching muscles and sharing with ds2!

sympathies to WYG - I went through a similar thing last month. not a nice experience. I had to phone EPU in the end as it all got too heavy and unpleasant.

Congrats to Barrenbrook and GLB and welcome (of sorts) to those new to the thread.

Gi1da · 18/04/2010 18:39

What a goooorgeoooouus day! Blimey it was like summer came all at once. Got started on my veg plot (not huge, but its a start). Seeds will go in the propagator this week to be planted out as soon as I get too impatient. Poor sods. And in the meantime the local cats will no doubt avail themselves of the beautifully hoed and de-stoned toilet patch I have so thoughtfully prepared...

MrsPretty no idea re Noddy. Have always been slightly wary of the Spiked Ones. Bad incident as a curious child [shudder]
PS - wot you said about the little bod was brill .

Alba well done you for hugely fortuitous travel planning! Glad you had a super time (and hope nothing is broken!)

Malteser well done you for pulling strings. I hope everything goes tickety-boo at your scan tomorrow. You deserve a really boring time here on in...

Cheepz you lucky sausage!

Muser Congrats! Oh so nearly there...

hellos to Pollyanna, Littlemiss, Eights, WestYorks - hope you're on the mend and being totally spoiled rotten. Digi poor you having to deal with preggo-fest - honestly sometimes it's just farcical isn't it?

Allthe8s · 18/04/2010 21:11

wow its been fairly quiet on here today thats a good sign...everyone out enjoying the sunshine and feeling nice and cheery

Had a lovely day at the coast yesterday, my sis lives right on the seafront in Hastings so we spent the day on the beach which was lovely.

Been to the hospital Remembrance Service today for our little DD2 who was born at 21 weeks. Was quite tough actually We are only a couple of weeks away from the her first anniversary and even the weather is a reminder of the next few weeks that I was in and out of hospital. Its lovely support though, they really are just bloody fantastic at St Georges, all the faces we needed to be there were there. We lit 2 candles one for DD2 and one for that little flicker of a heartbeat we lost at 7 weeks and they gave us 2 white roses as we left....... Anyway it was lovely and a perfect day to remember

Gi1da good luck with your propagating, our toms & lettuce are sprouting already Know what you mean about the cat pooh

Good luck 2morro malteser and good luck getting home polly - any idea when you will be able to get back?

Nearly there Muser

Fingers crossed this is your month littlemiss

Hello to all the other ladies have only gone as far back as this morn, I really must do my planning for this weeks kiddie activities.......catch up at some point tomorrow.

x

dorcas111 · 19/04/2010 07:40

Hello, I've been lurking for a bit and thought I'd say hello. I miscarried three weeks ago and I am still finding it very hard. It would have been my first and was unplanned but very much wanted, we were devastated when I lost it. We have been trying again, maybe we should have waited for my first period, I don't know. Now I feel like I am obsessed with getting pregnant again! What I am finding so hard is that no-one around us seems to really get it. My friends mean well and have been lovely but talk about being positive and enjoying being independent for a while longer. I feel like they just don't get how broken hearted I am. Mumsnet has been a lifeline for me, it really helps to know that others out there understand what I am going through. Sorry for the long rambling post, just wanted to introduce myself

PrettyVacant1 · 19/04/2010 08:43

Mornin' all.

I'm off today but got lots to do, so sitting on here first thing is possibly not the best start to the day.

Hello and welcome to our haven of lovely ladies Dorcas.
Sorry you find yourself here.
It's the thread no-one wants to be on but we're glad we are if that makes sense.
It's perfectly normal how you feel and you're in good company, ramble away!

Muser nearly there
I know it has probably felt like the longest 2 months of your life.
I've decided that we are both going to have the perfect child that sleeps and smiles and never poos.
Not that we're the only ones that deserve one like that it's just that ours has got to be bloody worth this wait!
BTW I'm not suggesting we have one together although I'm sure it would definitely be perfick then.

Alba how are the ribs?
Have you got thighs of steel now?

Glad you had a nice break AllThe8's.
I live very near a beach but it wasn't quite the weather here.
I made do with sitting in the garden drinking beer.

Howz the yodelling going Polls any sign of getting back?

Littlemiss we can do the 2ww of lunacy together.
I think I may Ov early and Mr.G is at the footy tonight but one can but try, did think of grabbing 'im this morning but he very kindly for a change crept out of bed not to wake me as I was off work.
I came down and he was ironing his shirt, possibly an opportunity but he would've missed his train.

Obsessed? Who me? No, not yet!

Allthe8s · 19/04/2010 08:51

Morning, I am back down the bottom but am glad things have gone back to normal and bang on 28 days. Hope you all have a good day - sorry you are here Dorcas, it does get better I promise just take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself and other half....x

VivClicquot · 19/04/2010 09:49

Morning all

Golly, it looks like it's been a quiet weekend on the thread - hope it means everyone's been out and about in the sunshine.

malteser - sending you lots of love and keeping everything crossed for you today.

allthe8s - hiya love x glad the service went well, and it's nice to hear what we can expect when we go to our hospital memorial service in June.

dorcas - welcome to our lovely thread

Hi everyone else xx

Got a on an OPK on Saturday afternoon, followed by a peak on the CBFM yesterday.

However, this morning I had to leave the house early to drive to Liverpool for a meeting so haven't peed on my stick. (Basically, due to the time of day that I reset the monitor on D1, it won't let me pee on a stick this cycle until 7.30am each day!) Given it should automatically be a peak, will it matter that I've not tested? Or will it go into a meltdown of confusion when I get home and switch it on tonight?

Also acupuncture fans - I've been getting ov pains this morning which I haven't had for the last two cycles so am wondering whether it's down to Zita West and her zen-like calm?

In other good news, my work trip to Zurich tomorrow has been cancelled. The bad news is I'm fretting about our mini-break to Baltimore next week to visit one of my best friends...

Happy Mondays to all.
xxxx

Good luck Teaser am sure everything will be fine and then you can finally start to relax and enjoy being up the differoo

Cheepz · 19/04/2010 10:05

I'm baaaaack

Wow, feel fantabulotastic after the weekend and even managed to get up early and get in the gym this morning (we have weights and mats and a treadmill and a screen in the outhouse in the garden so it requires no effort other than getting out of bed to get ther - no excuses

Have very short hair, so I can't do the Cheryl sweep, but am still worth it.

Boss is stuck overseas so I am having a slow day

Dorcas well done for taking the first step and posting, it is a very difficult place you are in right now, and must be doubly so for your first pregnancy. I found it very difficult the first time and it was my second. I think that desire to jsut be pregnant again as sson as possible has come to all of us at one stage or another, try and go with the flow, and don't worry about trying again straight away - alot of people have done that and many are sucessful

malty good luck today, I am sure it will be fine

muser rah, 1 month to go. x

right, am honour bound to at least do some small amount of work!

dorcas111 · 19/04/2010 10:28

Also, I have to do a pregnancy test today- the EPU I went to asked me to do one two weeks after the mc to check my hcg levels were back to normal, which I did last week but there was still a faint line. They told me to repeat the text today, but as I have been ttc again I am in turmoil over doing it. If I get a positive I won't know why and if I get a negative, although it means my body will be getting back to normal, I'll be devastated all over again about not being pregnant. If you see what I mean. God, I'm an idiot. I should have waited for a period like the doctor told me. Plus I am feeling queasy, have sore boobs and keep needing to pee. Clearly it's only a combination of pmt, lots of tea and coffee and my obsessive internet research into early pregnancy symptoms but it doesn't stop the hope... Someone save me from myself!

PrettyVacant1 · 19/04/2010 10:55

Oh honey.
Dorcas breathe and ffs back away from Google, evil lies that way.

Pee on it and see, no point getting worked up till you know either way, and either way would be good in the long run eh?

Freezingmyarseoff · 19/04/2010 10:59

Morning all

Welcome Dorcas, of couse sorry that you're here at all, but I'm glad you've posted and get lots of support from all the lovely ladies here. Can quite understand your turmoil with regards the pregnancy test. My only (not very helpful) advice is to try not to do internet research. Easier said than done I know.

Cheepz your weekend sounds lovely, am very

Good luck today malteaser

PrettyVacant I'm very chuffed that you think I've got green fingers, please keep that illusion in your head. My advice on the cactus is, urm, eh, yes I think you over watered it

PrettyVacant1 · 19/04/2010 11:10

It's really not my fault Freezing Noddy lied, So Mr.G and I have both been watering him
He's taking lessons from the cat, we both feed him till we realise that the other one just did.

Result = smug fat cat and poorly Noddy.

I feel bad, Mr.G's Dad has had him for 30 odd years and we've managed to kill him in 5.
I think it's time to re-pot him 6ft under.
Oooops.

PrettyVacant1 · 19/04/2010 11:15

Viv no idea on CBFM malarky sorry.

Go for it!

And Hello from the Pool!

dorcas111 · 19/04/2010 11:25

Well I just did the test and it was a BFN. I know that this is probably the best result right now as it means I know my hcg levels are back to normal but I still feel blue . I think in some ways I've been a bit in denial about not being pregnant since having the mc. Not that I've thought I was still pregnant, the scan was pretty conclusive about that, but I just haven't really wanted to accept it as true. So it is probably a healthy thing really to have it spelt out for me by a pink and white superdrug pregnancy test. And at least I can go out tonight with my friends and have a guilt free glass of wine. Wish it had been positive though...

Freezingmyarseoff · 19/04/2010 11:53

Sorry PV, I didn't read your original post properly. 6ft under - good thinking.

Dorcas, sorry for the BFN,, look after yourself and take each day at a time.

PrettyVacant1 · 19/04/2010 12:02

I'm sorry Dorcas
There's not much I can say.
It will ease.
It's a shitty journey but you will make it out of the other side.

Enjoy the wine, have some pate and brie on the side too

Gonnabe · 19/04/2010 12:32

Ahh Dorcas I am sorry, its a hard thing to hear isnt it. I had to go back to the hospital for my preg test after the mc and when she said, you are not pregnant I nearly said no sh*t sherlock.. I just didnt need to hear it. It gets better thou.

Hello to everyone!

Good luck to teaser

What a lovely weekend - sadly I did spend a lot of time yesterday sorting through my clobber and having to accept that I wasnt going to fit into some of my trews any longer so off to the charity shop they went.. SOB!! No more mid week wine, or crunchie bars for me!

WestYorkshireGirl · 19/04/2010 12:49

Hi All

I haven't posted for a few days as been feeling really low. Still off work with this sore throat business and just so bloody tired. Felt sick Fri and Sat and now only occasionally. Don't know if it's part of the bug or pg symptoms that are taking a while to go (if was was pg). Don't get results from bloods until Weds at earliest.

Am wondering whether to change Drs and ask for a female as haven't been finding the male one much cop. That said, it could just be because he is saying things I don't want to hear. I think it's the thought that getting pg again might take a while that's so depressing. When I mc'd in Jan, I envisaged myself being pg by now. Still wondering about taking the break, but easier said than done. Had big argument with DH last night and a lot of baby stuff tied up in there so got to get a handle on it all somehow.

Dorcas Sorry to hear your news, but welcome to our thread. You need to give yourself time to grieve - it's OK to do that, but you are right that your friends won't get it. No one does until they've been through it.

Malteaser Hope your appt went well

malteser1981 · 19/04/2010 13:12

Thank you all for the good wishes. Well I've well and truly knackered my streetcred at work. Snot and tears and hiccups and a red blotchy face - in response to the simple question 'how are you?'.
Scan today - small gestational sac equal to my dates, no pole or anything, but at 5+2 not unexpected. Good news that it's in the right place, just off the midline and the pain appears to be from the corpus luteum cyst. Plan to rescan me in 2 weeks with open access in the interim. Positive happy thoughts for the next two weeks unless proven otherwise.
The LOVELY consultant was sooooo sympathetic and supportive and says she will see me every 2 weeks for piece of mind if I want!
Cheepz - she echoed what you said, the more antenatal support the better, and as obstetricians they are only too aware that women with multiple losses are a group who find it difficult to access the best care early enough.

Viv you go girl!, I'm sure the CBFM won't implode if you use it tonight instead, too be on the safe side just SWI like you never had before. Can't go wrong then!

*Allthe8's - well done for being so brave, sounds like it was a really lovely thoughtful service.

Gilda veg? You know how to make a girl feel inadequate don't you?! Houseplants last about 3 months despite my 'TLC'!

Dorcas - I know it goes against the grain to be pleased to get a BFN, but at least you know your body is recovering.

Muser - the end is nigh, hope you are limbering up!!

And to everyone else you offered words of support, thank you so much.

Go on then put me on the BFP list- this is the new positive me!!
