8 week scan today and there's a mini-nomore in there

Don't know why I looked in on the conception threads today, but I am so pleased for you. You were one of the many that helped me through those nasty ttc years (I only had 3 of them and they seemed endless).

Hope you enjoy your pregnancy (after all that effort it felt wrong to hate it as much as I did). And make the most of the chocolate eating opportunities - it's iron rich isn't it?

I'm off to have a celebratory glass of beer for you. And to sneak in to kiss my boys again as I've just remembered how happy I am to have them snorting away next door.

Still can't get over how news from someone I'll never meet can have me all

PiggyPenguin · 26/03/2010 20:44

O M G Nomore!!! Have just spotted this in active convos. What absolutely amazing news! I am so pleased for you, it is just fantastic!

nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2010 20:47

thanks sybil and rattling, it's really nice to 'see' everyone

So, Nomore, when's your next scan????

With ds I had one at 6wks (HB visible) and one at 9wks (couldn't see much as ds was too busy jumping around)(should have known from they I'd have my hands full!)

nomoremagnolia · 29/03/2010 12:40

We've booked a private 10 wk scan for next week, but I still haven't got a date for the NHS dating scan.

I'm looking forward to it too A scan at 10 weeks that shows everything is ok is as good as a 12 week 'everything's ok' scan, so we're going to go public to DH's family after that. He's working abroad for 4 months, starting when I'm 14 weeks, so he wouldn't have had the chance to tell his family in person before he left, especially as it seems we'll not get the 12 wk scan til 13+ wks, maybe just days before he goes

Seeing a heartbeat at 6wks was wonderful (had no nails left after the wait before that). Seeing ds bouncing about at 9wks was even better. But I found myself going between checks etc very fearfully... Even found myself at 6 or 7 months thinking that I'd got it all wrong and it was all a dream (despite the very obvious evidence that it wasn't, and the kicks just to confirm).

Will dh be popping back for the weekends or at least some of them? I hope so...

nomoremagnolia · 29/03/2010 13:23

He's in the military so no 'popping home' I'm afraid! He'll get a week home in the middle of the 4 months though.
The 8 week scan was pretty amazing, the baby actually resembled something half way to being human, though like you I was thinking they'd tell me I'd made it up and it was a phantom pg. Looking forward to seeing him/her again next week

The positive side of things is that you will be able to sleep when you want (evening/ night/ weekend rather than day) with the level of bedding that suits you, and you won't feel that you're disturbing anyone when you get up for the 3rd time in the night - or need a drink, or fancy a snack - at 3am....

Oh - and you'll be able to eat what you feel like rather than what someone else 'thinks' you should be eating - to some extent anyway!

I'm glad he'll get to come home for a week in the middle though.

Pinkmartini · 31/03/2010 18:59

hello nomoremagnolia
Just wanted to say, I've changed names about 100 times since being pinkmartini back in 2007 when we were on the ttcno1 threads together (have a toddler ds and another on the way - you're a bit ahead of me, only 7 weeks ish) but have changed back today to wish you all the very best and say CONGRATS. I really am SO pleased for you.

nomoremagnolia · 31/03/2010 19:08

hey hey pinky
I've joined the due in nov thread (actually due very end of oct but expect to be late!) - might I see you on there in due course?

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 01/04/2010 11:30

Nomore - why expect to be late? Ds was a week early (thank goodness - he was 'only' 10lbs 5oz!)

kensgirl · 01/04/2010 15:23

Squeal. Pop. Squeal. Pop.

Kensgirl, so fabulous that you have number 2 on the way... and another July baby July babies rock

Ready · 02/04/2010 10:20

Oh and Nomore... safest way, expect to go 2 weeks over, and tell everyone 2 weeks over as well. That way if you come on time, or even slightly early, you won't have had a million phone calls, texts, emails asking if you've popped yet. Next time round (if I am lucky enough to have another go) I will tell everyone 2 weeks later than my actual edd.

nomoremagnolia · 03/04/2010 12:34

If the baby takes after its mum it'll be late!
