Mistlethrush - life is good. Very good. DD is 8 months old today! How are you?

Lovely reason to reunite everyone eh

SQUEAL

littletortie · 24/03/2010 20:24

I am ok

Had a second lap and dye and endo lasered (am I right that you had endo too?) last September and am now on countdown to IVF. No drinking, lots of fruit and veg and shaking off a few pounds too!!

Its been 3 years TTC on and off for us and its been a hard slog....its lovely to see old-timers finally getting their long awaited pregnancy wish granted....it seems like you are on these boards for years and everyone passes you by, it must be nice to finally have your turn to make an announcement!

You have been sooooo supportive and happy over the years, always lending an ear when someone wants a whinge..you truly deserve this xxxx

When did you start the IVF? Come on- we want details!!!!

Ready · 24/03/2010 20:27

OOps, crossed with ammy. Lovely to see everyone

Pop.

I didn't have very much endo - during the lap and dye they removed a bit but the consultant didn't think it was enough to be causing any problems. I'm not sure where in the story I was when I last updated you, so here's the full lowdown...
After ttc for 18 months DH and I had tests - his SA was ok but not brilliant, I had blood tests done whih showed non-ov so we were given 6 months of Clomid which made me ov but didn't get me pg. Then we had our first ivf in may/june 08 and my period arrived before the testing date, so game over. Then I had some more Clomid (cause I went and moaned at my gp) and when taking that I had an ectopic, which luckily resolved itself without me needing surgery. Then the ivf doctor thought it might be wise to do a lap and dye to check if blocked tubes was the reason for the ectopic. L&D showed one clear tube and one they coudn't get down. They also removed a small amount of endo and raised queries as to whether my womb was scarred. Then I had a HSG to check tubes, where they showed both sides were fine...then a hysteroscopy to look at the womb again to look at possible scarring, but they found nothing wrong, so by that point we were given the all clear for a second round of ivf, which we've just done.
The biggest change I made was acupuncture, which also meant giving up alcohol, some dairy and drinking loads of water. The acupuncture lady takes a holistic approach, hence the dietary changes as well as the acupuncture.

It's a love-in

I'm still so bloody excited for you!

littletortie · 24/03/2010 20:54

OOOOOOH interesting.....

My first acupuncture session is tomorrow in prep for IVF!!!!

I have given up drinking and have been doing slimming world to lost a stone so lots of veg, salad and fruit.

We have also 'treated' ourselves and we are going to see Zita West in April- I love hers books and her philosophy makes sense to us so we just thought 'sod it'- we want the IVF to work so we are putting energy and effort into trying to help ourselves to help it work- make sense????

My endo was minimal, cons who did the lap thought it would have made no difference whatsoever- it bloody hurt though!!! In fact your history mirrors mine- my DHs SA was slightly dodge but not enough to cause probs, I have a big question mark hanging over my tubes and this was cleared up with a hysteroscopy and my mild endo was on my tube. Lots of niggly bits but no definite answer-

Fingers crossed that come Autumn we can compare notes on something else

nomoremagnolia · 24/03/2010 20:59

Oh I hope so Just showed DH all these messages and he is grinning at you lot. Also forgot to mention that he did acupuncture too and the lady we saw specialised in acupuncture for fertility/ivf.

littletortie · 24/03/2010 21:03

I mentioned to my DH that he may have to have some needles- he is more than happy but asked if the lady does massage as well I dunno what he invisages I will be doing when I go for my appointments. What a weirdo.

The lady I am seeing is also a specialist in fertility and IVF- found her details on fertilityfriends.com.

Do you still have my e-mail address? You sent me an e-mail ages ago and I think i completely forgot to reply Don't be a stranger...

nomoremagnolia · 24/03/2010 21:12

Pretty sure it's in my address book, will email you soon xx

came in to squeal with delight once again.

Might check out the tea room: the ladies seem really nice ;-)

MmeLindt · 24/03/2010 22:42

Fantastic, Nomoremagnolia.

Interesting re the acupuncture. My friend is TTC and I told her that I have heard that acupuncture could help.

Jacksmama · 24/03/2010 22:59

The tea room ladies are very nice

Nomore - I still beat you then - 6yrs waiting for ds - but he's nearly 5 () and a right pickle (as the tearoom ladies can vouch for!)

I managed to get to the top of the NHS list twice on the wait and conceived just beforehand each time... So there's definitely hope if you've ONLY been trying for 3 years littletortie I know it feels like ages....

I was going to a chinese herbalist who also did accupuncuture - swapped to accupuncture as soon as I found out I was pregnant - it was the thing that really got me through pregnancy sane, so keep going Nomore.

nomoremagnolia · 25/03/2010 12:21

I really have no idea how you survived ttc for 6 years. The past 4 have been hard work, and ttc dominated everything we did - holidays, visits to family, job changes, everything....
My accupunctuist doesn't need to see me now I'm pg unless anything goes wrong, her work was in getting me pg. She keeps ringing me every couple of weeks though to see how I am which is really sweet

I found mine was a godsend. I was having problems sleeping. I was anxious (not surprising really) and I got really short of breath (a long time before it could have been the space related issues) - she sorted all of these out and I used to float out on my own little cloud... I often fell asleep on the couch when I was having treatment

6 yrs was hard - probably the hardest was the year I wasn't allowed to try because of the mp and subsequent treatment. Then of course the mp overshadowed pregnancy and future mc...

But now I'm just tearing my hear out at the amount of life that is bouncing around constantly and asking questions and talking and bouncing and talking.... (and giving wonderful kisses and cuddles).

Yes - two would have been the icing on the cake. But I sometimes wonder how on earth we would have coped if we had two like him!

Tearoom would welcome you now Nomore (as well as any others)

hobnobs · 25/03/2010 15:53

Congratulations You've made it!

I'm so excited for you Nomore. Glad you're makng the most of the opportunity to eat chocolate without the guilt! (I strangely enough went off chocolate when I was pregant - very unlike me!)

Hello to all the familiar faces. PureeandPearls Have been off MN so only just seen your news on No 1 babies thread - congratulations!

nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2010 10:26

I haven't actually eaten any chocolate for breakfast (yet) but the thread title was mainly for Scorps's benefit, though I think Puree might recognise it too
I have mainly been eating creme eggs and dairylea, though not together!

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 26/03/2010 10:28

Its funny, I just seemed to go off things....

First it was red wine (still liked the smell but couldn't drink it) then chineese takeaways, then indian takeaways...

Ready · 26/03/2010 14:39

Ooooh creme eggs and dairylea - let's talk more about that! shame it isn't together, now that would be a talking point. But I reckon baby will have strong bones all that calcium you are getting... we could do a NOMOREMAGNOLIA craving watch.

Day 75, 8am, Nomore enjoys a sausage and nutella sandwich

mistlethrush · 26/03/2010 14:51

at Ready's suggestion... and, no, not envy, its also appropriate for other faces!

nomoremagnolia · 26/03/2010 18:15

I was thinking more like Bill Oddie in the Springwatch programme than Big Brother!
