YAAAAY, congratulations iggy so very lovely to see you on that list

monkey I grinned at your news too- fantastic! So glad things are going well but sorry about sickness

MLS glad you weren't weebling alone, just tired...which is v good sign! Awww hope the ballet was lovely

Neeko amazing, you can wear stuff in the birthing pool?? I feel quite that I never realised that my pregnancy book has a v unattractive pic of a woman naked and sprawled in one which put me off slightly but if I can wear a tankini I'm THERE! (I will still be such a prude during labour I'm sure of it...dh is staying head end!!)

Barbie glad you feel calmer re dates that's fab oh maybe my dh should get some swaddling practice.. although he's convinced he will be fine since seeing Jason Manford's stand-up about his baby when he said 'just do it like you wrap a fajita'

4ever deffo bring the basket home!! I don't believe in 'bad luck' anyway but I think you are definitely ready for that. Amazing that baby is officially viable, you're going to be a Mummy!

We were meant to have a lunchtime second viewing of the flat we were gonna go for today but they called 2 hours ago to say it's been let we're gutted... back to more frantic weekend viewings!

bluesatinsash · 12/02/2010 13:35

Quick one from me too while Ben sleeps. (DS1 at nursery on a friday). I'm doing this one handed whilst I express!! MLS its the medula electric pump and I've increased the speed today so fingers crossed I'll get more...

Just wanted to say fantastic news monkey and iggy and well done for graduating to the bigpant bence iggy

Lovely to see you neeko! Not long now... You started any baby name threads yet?

Gracie - well done for getting to post. Bet you can't stop staring at Isabelle - just lovely.

4ever - understand your moses basket dilemma but you deserve to start having some baby things at home - the nesting part is what makes pregnncy fun in amongst all the worry so go for it . 24 weeks today honey - xxx

I keep having to turn pump off to listen out for B its so noisy!

Annie can so relate to the tiredness, hang in there honey x

cupcke - so glad yor mw appointment went much better than last one. Good luck with house viewing this weekend, man its all go for you!

barbie starting to drum fingers waiting on babybarb .

sabs - Saara has a fantastic head of hair!

MLS glad you're knackered

Vjay - are you all organised for Sunday? You must post some pics of Ajay in his christening gown

Well I managed 3 oz in 15 min there - getting better!

Iggy So pleased all went well with the scan and graduating - well done!!!
Sabs about S's hair? Poor little love, don't let her dad lose on her again she won't forgive him when she's older
Monkey Fabulous news about your scan too, is it starting to sink in yet?
4ever As far as I'm aware it's only the pram that is bad luck, if you feel comfortable with it home then do it, if you don't store it at someone elses house, no one will judge you on it hun
MLS Hope ballet goes well today
Neeko When do you go on maternity leave?
Barbie Make the most of the time you have left just the two of you. The main thing I miss is not being able to just nip to the shops to buy something simple, now it's a military mission, baby has to come out the car etc etc that's when I realised my independence has gone, but in happy way of course
Cupcake Sorry to hear about the flat, but just think it wasn't meant to be as there is something much better out there for you instead
Blue I have such a lovely image of you sat at the computer with your (.)(.) being pumped Its funny how we all differ, I preferred the hand one as the electric one made me rather sore. Glad to hear you are getting on better with it though
Mermaid How's the greenhouse?

I'm taking advantage of my sister visiting and spending time with E, he's just given her a lovely present of a sh*tty nappy, bless I told her it was because he loves her
Have a good weekend all x

VJay · 12/02/2010 17:09

Quick one form me, I'm busy packing and getting ready to go. We've ran out of time for Ajays virtual christening, maybe we should to a job lot when the time comes . blue he's not wearing a gown, wish he was, my mum's got the one my grandpa was christened in but Ajay is too big, so he can wear ds1's little suit with bow tie . Will post pics when I get back. Have good weekends everyone xxxx
P.s well done on having a fab scan monkey, so pleased all is well .
4ever big congrats to your dh
Right I'm off........

VJay · 12/02/2010 17:10

.....I'm back , forgot to say, good to see you on the bigpant bench iggy

MrsKate · 12/02/2010 17:46

yeah well done iggy welcome to the big pants xxx

Neeko · 12/02/2010 21:53

Hello again.

Cupcake boo to the house problems but my gran used to say what's for you won't go past you, so it clearly wasn't the one for you.
On the subject of water births one of my most frightening moments of labour last time was when I was standing in the birthing pool room whilst they filled it. I was uncomfortable but using the tens machine so was still very lucid. I remember thinking 'Oh crap, I'm going to have to take my knickers off to get in here!' and feeling quite stressed. It was fine once I was in though and later -when I'd progressed quite a bit and agreed to an epidural- I couldn't have given two hoots as I waddled down the corridor with a towel wrapped around my waist and my dripping t-shirt, probably flashing my bum to the world! Since then though I've discovered that you can wear a whole tankini until you're quite far on so I'll be aiming for that as being stressed can slow down labour.

Iggy congrats on your new big pants status. They feel a little strange at first but are actually very comfy.

Barbie enjoy some quality time with your DH. Hope it's your last for a while and your lo decides to arrive before scan time on Monday. P.S. We'll be your fedng counsellors and we're free!

Blue Well done on the pumping. Mine's a Medula too although it's the manual one. On a good day I could get 7oz so I never tried the electric one. Hope I'm that lucky again this time. Not started any name threads yet - cos we don't really have any!!!

Buddha mat leave starts on Fri (Yay)Does your sister have any kids or did E's nappy put her off?

Vjay Can't wait to see those pics.

Have someone coming to paint the baby's room tomorrow and Sunday (using the remainder of my Health in Pregnancy grant ) Can't wait til it's done so I can get all the baby things out the loft and nest to my heart's content.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Lionstar · 12/02/2010 22:33

Sabs, just had a peek at your pics, Saara is just too cute. DS is horribly jealous of her hair, he started off with quite a bit, but cradle cap has kicked in and he is turning baldy rapidly - boo. Mind you he is still doing better than DD, she is 3 next weekend and still has not ever had a haircut . I am also jealous of her sleeping, DS is a boob monster at night he starts off OK goes 7pm to about 11, but then it's every 2-3 hours after that and he doesn't like to go back in his cot either. But he does do that waking up and cooing/laughing thing in the morning which is really cute, I can get an extra 20 minutes dozing if I ignore him

Barbie you sound so very zen despite your recent scares and dilemmas. If that carries on your are going to waft through labour looking fresh and dewey, give birth with barely an yelp and look totally divine in your post-birth piccies . Have all appendages crossed for you for the coming week. Am loving the swaddled monkey BTW and good to hear DH is getting in some practice.

Yay iggy for your graduation, won't be long for you now. I can't believe just how many graduates we do have.

Neeko, nice to hear you are having some proxy-nesting - best steer clear of the paint yourself though, those fumes are not nice stuff. Can you rival Barbie in the nursery stakes though?

VJay sending you best wishes for AJay's christening. His outfit sounds lovely.

cupcake, I'm sure your perfect house is out there waiting for you, and you'll know it instantly when you see it. Just hope you don't have to wade through too many to get there.

blue remember to do those visalisations of babyben (or keep him in sight if you can) when you are pumping - it helps with the let down. I've just been using an Avent hand-pump to get the odd ounce or so. DS has been a bottle refuser, but we keep offering him little bits and it's starting to go down. We're off out for a couple of hours on valentines and Mum is having him - so if he wakes up it'll be the bottle or nothing!!

4ever I'm with the others - bring that basket home!! You're truely on the home straight now, it can't be anything except a symbol of good luck. Although I have to say I borrowed one from a friend and it was sat empty in the dining room for the last couple of weeks and the sight of it really did make those last few weeks drag by (but then I did expect to pop early rather than going the full 40 weeks)

Hope everyone has a great weekend. There's love in the air ...

Neeko · 13/02/2010 15:02

Hi Lion Nice to hear from you. I won't even be trying to rival Barbie I'm afraid as this one is getting DD's cast-offs. The walls will be neutral with her 'I love my bear' stickarounds, lightshade, mobile and cot set. The curtains are sadly too small for that room (we've moved since we had DD) so my aunt is adjusting a nice thick blue pair that was in my old living room and match the carpet. We figure regardless of the sex the baby won't care about the colour of curtains and once he/she is about 2 we can redecorate more suitably.
I'm trying to make this a budget baby as far as possible to leave more money for incidentals like the mortgage and food while I'm off!

MummyLovesSadie · 13/02/2010 15:38

Neeko of course the baby won't care about the colour of the curtains/carpet and I think blue is good for either a boy or girl. It wouldn't have worked the other way round though with pink curtains & carpets for a boy! Getting a nursery ready is so exciting, I can't wait to do ours. We have a horrible textured ceiling in our 'nursery' so sometime this year we will have to get my plasterer bil down from Scotland to sort that out.

I've been having lots of stretching pains today which has been very reassuring. Still managed to not do my last remaining cb digi, I think I'll do it in the week.

Neeko · 13/02/2010 15:40

Yay for stretching pains MLS. I'm also very impressed by your lack of testing, especially as you're such an addict!

barbie1 · 13/02/2010 17:45

Hello girls, still enjoying time with dh so wont post too much..but on jools request i will just let you know nothing is happening here so dont worry

Dh back to work tomorrow so ill post again then....

Hope you all have a truely lovely valentines day tomorrow x

CurlyBigPants · 13/02/2010 19:40

Hey girls. Writing this on phone while breastfeeding... Not very successfully. Every time I thinkshe has got the hang of it we go backwards!! Curlygirl is just gorgeous though. I'm so happy at the same time as being ridiculously anxious. Hopethis is normal

thanks so much all for being there. I really missed you all in the last week and have been thinking about you but I'm just not getting time to catch up properly which I feel guilty about.

Lots of love till I can xxx

MummyLovesSadie · 13/02/2010 20:40

Hello Curly & welcome back! Yes breastfeeding is not as easy as they make it out to be (actually I was rubbish at it) & your anxieties are completely normal. Anyone on this thread who has given birth will tell you that after having an anxious 9 months in pregnancy then you will get a whole new set of anxieties. I remember the night I got home from hospital & we left dd upstairs in her moses basket & I was in floods of tears downstairs imagining someone climbing through her bedroom window to take her!!! On top of that you have worries about cot death/meningitis/abduction/choking.... the list of unfounded fears goes on but EVERY mother feels the same. It does get a little easier but I still have nights where I have to go in & check dd is breathing or I have to banish the demons that are making me picture her running into the road & getting knocked down by a car. Once you have a baby it makes you realise that you didn't ever give your own mother the credit that she deserves!

So, any chance of some pictures??

littlebellsmum · 14/02/2010 11:10

Hello everyone - been a bit busy this week and I've been a bit knackered. I keep reminding myself that I am a bit older this time and obviously it's going to be a bit harder. I'd had such easy pregnancies before and whilst this is certainly not hard, I am just tired and so early nights call.

Gold stars for the super chilled barbie - I'm sure something will happen this week and so when I get back from holiday, you will have news for us. As one of the girls said the other day, enjoy the spontanaiety of being just the two of you and you being your own person, it is about to change!

Neekothelovely LOve the tankini plan but this is no 2 and they are often much quicker than no 1's so you may not have time - I only had 30 minutes at the hospital before DS arrived!

Curly Great to hear from you and well done for persevering with the bfing. I tried really hard with my two and didn't manage with either of them - got to 4 weeks with DD and we were having a really bad time (very bad memories of weeks 2-4) but the bottle saved my sanity and turned her into a lovely baby. With DS we went to 10 weeks as I had a supportive hv but as he was then at the 2nd %tile, bottles were used and again, it got better but I was very disapointed. I am trying really hard not to get hung up on it this time - the important thing is that you have a healthy baby, regardless of how they feed ( and I wrote that for me as much as you!)

Lion good to hear from you - my DS was known as the amazing bald baby as he didn't get hair untill he was over 1. He has lovely hair now though!

vjay hope the cristening was lovely and that Ajay screamed at all the right times!

MLS and Monkey - more gold stars, you two sound very chilled. Great to hear the scan went well, Monkey. Think your might be whilst I'm away, MLS - hope it goes well

Cupcake and 4ever , my 20 odd week buddies, glad to hear things are going well with you both. Bring home the basket, 4ever ( good luck at work on Monday)and cupcake the right home will find you!

I know I've forgotten loads of people but really must go - I've got the morning child free to pack as we are off on the sleeper to Edinburgh tonight untill Friday. And it's now after 11 and I haven't packed anything!!
Have a great week and I'll be in touch when we are back

cupcakefairy · 14/02/2010 15:39

Afternoon all
Thanks for the house encouragements! We have a real hopeful next week- we saw a flat last week that was gorgeous but the fact it was 1st floor was putting us off with buggy etc...now one has come up in the same block but ground floor...we have got the first viewing on it Weds morning 9.30am and we're bringing our cheque book with us!

barbie glad you're still with us hope you enjoyed some quality time with dh. We're trying to have as many dates as possible before May; went out for a lovely curry last night

LBM have a fab time in Edinburgh!

Vjay happy christening day to Ajay hope it is just lovely.

Neeko thanks for the birthing pool reassurance! dh laughed at me when I told him I hadn't realised you didn't have to be starkers in it. I can relate to your fright/stress though- when I had my medical management the nurse sent dh out, told me to just strip off my trousers and pants and lie on the bed legs akimbo for the pessaries...no modesty-covering sheet or anything...not a nice start to a horrible day!
Hope the nursery looks fab... my HiP grant is going on NCT classes, boo!

Lion bless your ds! Me and my sister called my little bro Egghead when he was a baby as he was completely bald for ages, haha Hope you enjoy your few hours off today

MLS hooray for stretching pains. That nursery ceiling will be getting plastered in a few months' time

Moon are you stil out there? Hope you're ok x

Curly so great to hear from you! Hope the bfeeding improves and so glad you're so happy with your gorgeous girl

Well I am having a lovely Valentine's so far.. I got a giant toblerone from the baby I think I will like this child!!

I'm now going to attempt to upload bump pics... bear with me!

BlueMoon1981 · 14/02/2010 15:59

hello ladies,

yes cupcake i am still here lurking most days just been very busy lately, and off out soon for a valentines meal with my lovely df but have a few days holiday from work next week so will catch up properly with everyone then

welcome home to gracie and curly with your beautiful los

cd19 here and seem to be having a lot of cramping

hope you've all had a good weekend

cupcakefairy · 14/02/2010 16:50

Well it took me over an hour but I think I've succeeded in getting the pics up! Bump and blanket are on there (rubbish pic of the blanket cos a)I don't know how to work flash settings on camera and b) I had to cover the bits where I'd made mistakes in the knitting )

Hi moon have a lush meal out tonight!

bluesatinsash · 14/02/2010 16:51

Hi all,

We've de-camped to DH's parents house for some tlc and general spoiling . fry up for lunch and full roast on its way for dinner - yum! So I have some time to catch up for once.

cupcake - fingers crossed for ground floor flat and great to hear you are getting in some dates before lo arrives. You don't get that 'just the two of you' time back for a while (although it does come back so don't worry) so savour every long lie and reading papers in bed weekends .

Vjay - hope the christening is going well, Bet Ajay looks divine. Sorry I typed gown I knew you didn't have a gown - doh - blame the tiredness. Also meant to say I had a good chuckle at your feeding stories and remember which side you last fed and lying Ajay on said side . When I'm feeding during the night the first thing I do is give my (.)(.) a quick feel to ascertain which one is bigger and therefore its turn .

curly - lovely to hear from you and yes the first few days/weeks of BF are bloody hard - toe curlingly sore as they latch on but it does get easier and I can feed B whilst getting toys out for DS1/making a cup of tea! Hope you're recovering from the birth, did you have a c-section in the end?

MLS - another yay! for stretching pains and totally agree about myriad of worries once baby is here. I also worry about autism/getting in with bad crowd/drugs/being bullied and so on and so on... aargh!

Neeko meant to say re: operation room. I was back in same room for Benjamin's birth as I was for ERPC on NY day 2009 and to be honest it helped banish those horrible memories. I mentioned it to the theatre nurses and they were all lovely saying how I was about to get my dream, one year on! lol at your tankini in birth pool .

4ever - are you OK honey? Hope you're just having quality resting time with your DH x

barbie - hope you're pottering, nesting and generally resting up missy!

LBM - enjoy Edinburgh and agree I was much more tired this pg at 38 as I was at first ne at 34!

monkey - hope you're resting and not feeling too bleugh

Lion - DS2 is same re: nocturnal boobfest - to the point I'm going to post a question on breast thread... He can go up to four hours from say 8pm/9pm/10pm - to midnight/1am/2am then another 3 hours to 3am ish but then wakes at 4/5/6am for further guzzling and I wonder if its because he smells me as he is lying beside me and I assume cos he is awake he is hungry when he might just be awake!! I'm so paranoid not to have him cry and wake DS1 that he's on the boob before he can say "hey I'm just awake and chilling" . Was so knackered this morning I just handed him to a refreshed sleeping-in-spare-room DH and I went back to bed. Managed to express 6oz yesterday so DH gave him his next feed and I didn't surface until 11am - DOUBLE YAY!

We're thinking of bringing cot into our room so he has his own space and doesn't smell me as much but we'll see as he refused to sleep in moses basket beside bed so how is cot going to be any different?

Love to all and Happy Valentine's Day! Every day is VD in our house of course .

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 14/02/2010 16:55

Hi cupcake - loving your pics . You're blanket is gorgeous and you look very serene

OP posts:
Neeko · 14/02/2010 18:56

Hi all and happy Vaentine's day to you.

Cupcake Lovely pictures. What a beautiful bump you have. I have a really good feeling about this ground floor flat.

Blue You sound really chilled after your long lie. Well done on the 6oz too. Glad you exorcised some demons with B's birth but I'd still rather not go there.

LBM Hope you have a fab time in Edinburgh. Stuck my fingers in my ears to avoid listening to how fast your DS's birth was I'm also much more tired this time round, yet can't sleep when I am in bed - typical.

Moon Glad to know you're still with us. to CD19 but also have my fingers and toes crossed.

MLS Hope you have a lovely Valentine's at home and DH gets away ok. By the time he comes back you'll have a pic of your LO

Barbie Hop[e you're feeling super-chilled or in labour!

Curly well done for you for finding the time to post. I'm sure you'll find the feeding easier as time goes by but as others have said don't beat yourself up if you don't. When I left hospital I could only feed DD lying down and had visions of me having to lie on the floor in Debehams etc when I was out and about!!

Mermaid/Jools/4ever You've all gone quiet. Hope you're ok. xx

MummyLovesSadie · 14/02/2010 21:03

Neeko lol at you thinking you'd have to feed dd on the floor out shopping! How is the nursery looking now?

Cupcake I have a good feeling about the flat you are going to see. I just know that you are going to get the one that you love the most. Love your bump pic, you look very 'at one'. When I look at everyone's bump pic on the thread & think back to how each of you were a few months ago & I'd love for you all back then to have been able to see yourself as you are now.

Moon cramping is such a good sign! Did you check out that obsessive symptom spotting website I linked to a couple of weeks ago?

Barbie keep us all informed won't you!

LBM liking the idea of a 30min second labour, yes please I'll have some of that! There is a really good children's play-area in Princes Street Gardens which are the gardens nestled at the bottom of the castle, opposite the shops.

Jools glad you got your bag back, was it intact?

Lion my dd isn't blessed in the hair department either, it's lovely & curly but she is 2 years 4 months, has never had a haircut & it barely reaches her ears! V. jealous of Neeko as her dd has hair right down her back!

Blue glad you are refreshed after your amazingly long lie-in. I'd be happy with a lie-in until 7.30.

Well more stretching pains for me today. I find it really uncomfortable to have anything tight across my tummy. I tried wearing my maternity leggings today but ended up having to keep pulling them up all day! Dh flies out to Chicago tomorrow morning for 10 days so for me that's 10 days of watching all the things I've Sky plussed for the last umpteen months & eating whatever I fancy! I have my 7 week scan the day before he gets home.... all I keep thinking is that I've never seen a printer attached to the scan machine in the epu in all the many many many many times I've been there!

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 04:02

Sorry not been on so much....i have had major wobbles re this scan 59 minutes and counting!

I have tried to say away from the computer for as long as possible over the weekend, had so many heart palputations that i lost count, so dh stayed home yesterday to look after me...

So i promise i will be back in a few hours with an update and dh has promised to go to work so i can mn without him here

Love to all xxx

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 07:37

The weeble is back...

FIrstly im saying sorry in advance because this is going to be a very me me me post

Ok...so my week went like this....posted and said how confident i am about everything, not worried about heart, labour, dates etc. That night broke down and worried about everything

Dh watched the channel 4 programme about labour and i hid upstairs with a book for the evening, but could still hear the screams etc and spent the whole evening crying my eyes out, worried about labour, my heart etc etc.

Went for scan today and baby is very small, no bigger than 6lbs, in fact the measurements indicate a 34week pregnancy not a 40 week one. The doctor was great though and listened to me as i explained the whole bleeding thing and bfp date. He agreed that i couldnt be any less then i thought and moved my due date by just one day to the 19th....he just said the baby was small all over and nothing stood out that was in any way an odd growth.

Nest i was sent to my doctor who said as we havent seen the baby growth chart since 20 weeks she was concerned that the growth in fact could of slowed down from the last records she had from the last scan (20week) where the baby was on target. So she decided not to risk things and has booked me in for an induction....she wants it done on thursday but im waiting for confirmation and she thinks it might have to be sunday at the earliest due to space issues.

I had a sweep.

So now i know baby barbie will be here this time next week...i do not know why it is small and so im going to wobble and weeble until i meet this little one.

I cant have pessaries due to the reaction i had while having my mmc (very bad) will have to be wired up to a drip with a drug to induce contrations, along with my heart monitor.

I run a high risk of having to have a c section.....but apart from all this im ok

mls glad you are getting stretching pains, all good signs of a little healthy bean. I missed when you said your first scan was?

cupcake i have everything crossed that you like the next house, and that you are planning where to put the cot as i type!

neeko i bet your nursery is looking fab...I really cant even remember if you have started mat leave yet (sorry my head is all over the place!) oh and i went swimming a few times this weekend and thought of you

Cupcake just do as i did and buy the seperates from topshop and make your own tankini! I ended up buying big pants and a string top but both in bigger sizes, and as you grow you can just buy the top/bottom that you have grown out off, cheap too

curly nice to see you pop on and posting updates, ill be joining you in a few days

gg how is babygracie? i hope you are enjoying being a yummy mummy

4ever are you ok hon??? missing your postings!

I know there are many more of you to speak with, however i have to rest a little...i will be back and keep you updated

Big hugs to you all xxx
