September is a month of new beginnings, maybe we'll have some new beginnings of our own. Hop on board the September Bus and let's see where it takes us.

nymphadora have you thought about acupuncture for your migraines? If it's a reaction to changes in hormones in your body, then perhaps acupuncture can help rebalance you. I know it's completely unscientific but I found the sessions I had when ttc before quite relaxing.

kawaiiko · 27/12/2009 16:44

Nymphadora, commiserations on the migraines! I suffer from regular migraines too (have had one on and off since Christmas Eve and I can't imagine anything that would make me less in the mood for some hot loving.

Not sure how migraine-savvy you are, so apologies if this is all old hat, but:

There are likely to be a number of fators that lead to your migraines when you ovulate - the consultant I saw last explained that trigger factors are like steps on a ladder and once you get past a certain step, you will have a migraine. So, hormones are definitely one 'step' for you - but they may just be the last step and not the whole story. If you manage to avoid some of the other steps, you might not cross the threshold even when you ovulate. Does that explanation make sense?

Other 'steps' to consider are sleep (more or less than normal? Late to bed? Lie in?), blood sugar levels (leaving too long between meals, eating sweets instead of meals), and dehydration. Also any change in your caffeine intake.

You could also look at supplementing with magnesium, b vits and efas?

I'm currently taking amitriptyline everyday to reduce the number of attacks I have - my GP has said that there is no evidence of this causing complications in pregnancy, although of course no trials can be done!

Do feel free to moan about it as much as you want - I'm sure there are lots of sympathetic listeners on this thread!

nymphadora · 27/12/2009 19:02

I know dehydration , blood sugar and tiredness are definate causes though the day before this one I was in bed @ 5pm! Also specific foods/additives can cause it.

I used to have amitripyline but it made me nauseus (as does ,what seems to be, any meds I have!) My frequency has reduced but over the last year the ones I do have have been massively more severe, especially since being off the pill.

NancyDrewRocks · 27/12/2009 19:32

Happy Christmas girls - although not really so great in my case. I started bleeding on Christmas eve so I'm off the graduate list.

Don't even really feel sad about it - just numb about it to be honest.

Anyway added myself to the very back of the bus...

LittlewhiskersCat · 27/12/2009 21:21

Sorry to hear your news NancyDrew . All the best for the next cycle.

Still waiting for OV (day 24 - usual OV day 17). It's either a very late OV following CP last month or an non-ov cycle. Anyway, have changed my UCL as it's depressing looking at the usual 28 days so I would usually be testing in 4-5 days, when at this rate it's 35 day cycle the bare minimum and since no signs of OV then more like 40+ probably. Just want to get on with TTC... Good luck to all

Sorry to hear that Nancy

I'm still waiting for ov despite being on day 17 - it was day 19 last month so looks like it'll be the same again. It's a good thing in a way as DH was out of action for the last few days due to indulging in far too much xmas beer cheer!

nymph hope your migraine is improving - it can't be nice feeling awful right at the most important time in each cycle.

nymphadora · 28/12/2009 01:01

At least now I know when I'm going to get a migraine and can cancel life in advance! Day or 2 for ov, 2 days for starting period, rate I'm going I'll be stuck at home most of the cycle!

NancyDrew, so sorry

Nymph...migraines suck! You have my full sympathy. Before I shut up (because you're obviously an expert - unsurprisingly since they sound so shit!) have you heard of/tried a migracap? When nothing else seems to work, I swear by them. How does your dp cope, btw? My dh finds it quite upsetting that he can't do anything to help.

I think the time between af and ov should be called "The OTHER 2WW"! I'm twiddling my thumbs wanting to get started again!

lucylev · 28/12/2009 09:22

2ww for me, lts of bding so am hoping this could be it this month, had awful crapping on the left side of my tum all day yday have woken up this morn and it's gone also slight achey boobs otherwise no other symtoms and am going to hold out till day 28 to test

Any news from the frount of the bus?

nymphadora · 28/12/2009 09:32

nancydrew so sorry that happened to me last month so I know how you feel, make sure you get plenty of relaxing time to get your head straight.

Kaw what's a migracap? Dh has always known
me to have them and I've been I'll a lot since we have been together so it seems to be a part of me now

NancyDrewRocks · 28/12/2009 10:14

Thanks girls - just feeling really sorry for myself.

Christmas Eve was also DS2's due date - he was stillborn in August. Is almost a year to the day that we decided to try for baby #3 and I just couldn't imagine I'd be ending the year like this.

LittlewhiskersCat · 28/12/2009 10:29

Gosh that's so very sad Nancy. Thoughts for you and your little lost one, and I hope 2010 brings you very good luck and news x

Eleanora · 28/12/2009 11:54

Hi all,

Sorry Nancy to hear your news.

I had promised myself I wouldn't test for a few more days, but as I've had some light spotting and couldn't decide if AF was coming or not I thought I'd test to put my mind at rest and............BFP!! (1-2 weeks on Clear Blue digital)

UmBongo · 28/12/2009 12:02

Sorry to hear that Nancy, heres hoping that 2010 is a good new year for you. Nothing wrong with feeling sorry for yourself - particularly on here but it does sound like you have had a hugely tough year. Apparently, I have heard, that the only way is up! (but sometimes it does seem that "up" is a long way away)

Can a stats bunny add me next time they update the list?
TTC#2, cycle 19, UCL 31-34, day 11.

Heres hoping we actually manage to have some sex this month with no man flu around. I am assured that having sex helps when trying to get pregnant!

UmBongo · 28/12/2009 12:03

CONGRATULATIONS to Eleanora

Hooray - some good news at last

yumyum73 · 28/12/2009 13:04

nancy so sorry to hear about your year. I really hope 2010 brings you lots of happiness x

CONGRATS eleanora really lovely to see a BFP

I've been spotting since Boxing Day and although want to believe it's IB I've had 3 negative HPT's so far so it's looking unlikely. I ovulated on the 20th December and can't believe i spotted so early as my cycle is usually 36-38 days long? Will see how the bleeding goes as at the mo it's ver very very faint and only when i wipe (sorry if tmi) will try one more test on my AF due date which is the 4th Jan and will see what happens.

Fingers crossed for everyone... need to see some more BFP's!

digitalgirl · 28/12/2009 14:53

Oh nancy that really sucks. Sorry you've had such an awful year. Is it worth getting a scan booked in to see if the bleeding is definitely a mc? Or has it gone past that point?

But hooray for eleanor and her bfp!

Am determinedly drinking coffee as I feel no symptoms whatsoever. Apart the usual mild morning cramps, although beginning to think that's part of my usual luteal phase. I'd also like to think my boobs feel a little heavier, but it's more likely I'm finally gaining some fat back in them after they were left like deflated baloons post breast feeding.

Is anyone else on here drinking coffee & booze through the 2ww?

UmBongo · 28/12/2009 16:08

I can't stand coffee digitalgirl, but am on the booze most months during the 2ww. Unless I am living in cloud cuckoo land and occasionaly convince myself that I am pregnant. I tend not to get totally sloshed, but the occasional glass or two doesn't count in my opinion! If I went off the booze every 2 week wait I have had, then I would be in an even more unbalanced state than wot I already am! I even had a few half glasses of wine when I was preg with #1 and he seems fine! (although that was three years ago when the government thought that that was OK not totally illegal as they now seem to think!

nymphadora · 28/12/2009 16:33

I dont drink coffee and I dont drink much alcohol. I can be tempted by mulled wine (like last night) or champers but I usually just head for the pop. So I just carry on as usual during my 2WW

ilovethebeach · 28/12/2009 18:32

eleanora Huge Congrats

digitalgirl I am halfway ish through 2ww and don't feel at all pg so had a costa coffee yesterday and will be drinking 2+ glasses of wine a night for the next few nights as we are going away for new year! I know in reality a bit of alcohol won't be the deciding factor on whether I do or don't get pg. Totally fed up with this ttc lark but on the other hand don't let myself get down for more than 5 mins. I can't justify that when I have 2 lovely DC already

Anyone else testing soon? We need more graduates!

SamanthaB123 · 28/12/2009 18:40

Dear Nancy, your story is so very sad. You are really brave. Good luck ttc next time around, I will be thinking of you.

I have a great feeling that I am going to conceive this month (although posting this on the internet may well be tempting fate!). I had a bit of a moment in the middle of the night last night - ovulation maybe, conception possibly? Time will tell. I heard that a woman has increased fertility following a miscarriage which has spurred me on a bit too. I am hoping that positive thinking and well timed bding will be enough for a BFP in January.

Any news at the front of the bus? SB

drkgpink · 28/12/2009 19:34

nancy so sorry to hear that, hope 2010 will be much better for you.

Congrats eleanora.

I had some spotting yesterday and after my premature AF 11 days ago and not knowing where I'm up to due to only being just over 3 weeks since implanon removed I did a HPT. faint positive on clearblue twice. Don't really believe it so going to get a digital one tomorrow and test again, don't have any symptoms and with the spotting something is telling me things aren't right. Time will tell.

How's everyone else?

bunnygirl80 · 29/12/2009 07:51

Nancy sorry to hear what a terrible year you've had. I hope 2010 is much better for you.

I'm glad to hear others are drinking during their 2ww's - had been feeling a little bit guilty about it as lots of people seem to steer clear completely. Not that I'm out every night, but I do enjoy the odd glass or wine or two.
