mermaid - so keeping everything crossed for you and am cautiously optimistic for Wed. As barbie says, dates can be so out in the early weeks and I know they don't confirm either way until 7 weeks as it is so individual up until then. My prayers will continue and sod the time, get your dressing gown on.

4ever - another week under your belt honey, had a lump in my throat reading you being in M&P. I'm a bit like that re: Mothercare. Our nearest one is Edinburgh as my town one closed down and the only two times I've been in it were shortly after both mc's to buy a baby present . Always vowed to go back when sporting big bump but can't bring myself to go through as it brings back bad memories and I don't want to tempt fate. The things that mc does to you....

My Mum has taken DS out for an hour to let me rest so I'm off to bed x

VJay · 14/12/2009 16:10

mermaid it does sound like it's just too early to see anything at the moment. Are you having another scan on Wednesday? I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you

4ever fab scan yay

Gotta go got a hungry Ajay!

VJay · 14/12/2009 17:37

they're here ...now all we need to do is do our festive name changes

barbie1 · 14/12/2009 18:06

sorry mermaid went to our first antal natal class...but yes...the first scan both internally and externally saw nothing...only the bfp on the stick proved other wise...had bloods done much like you had and had to go back during the 7th week, still not much to see on the scan then either. I know think you are you too early and wouldnt be at all surprised if you see nothing still on wednesday...the best thing to go by is the blood results.

Wiped out now, ill be back to post tomorrow, night night all x

GracieGirl · 14/12/2009 18:20

Hello all!

First things first....Mermaid's pregnant whoo whoo! Mermaid my current pregnancy I had a scan at 5wks+2, and there really isn't much to see, I have a photo which I will email you of the tiny little blob that's now an almost 33 week pregnancy. Also Mermaid I haven't put up any decorations, written any cards or wrapped a present yet - I need to get myself in gear!
Also I used to love the smell of coffee, though never really drank it, and now my DH is banned from using the coffee machine as it makes the whole house smell manky!

Cupcake welcome to Big pants! Yes MLS I finally have a bump, though it wasn't around till about 28 weeks, you can almost see it growing now. I got DH to take some photos at the weekend so as soon as he's downloaded them for me I'll put one on Mumsnet for you to see. DH is commuting from home at the minute and moves to the local hospital in February which wil be so much nicer for us both.
MLS give your DD a get well soon hug from me.

LBM 17 weeks - wow! So far not got iron tablets for my anaemeia, the midwife wanted to give them me but I reckoned I do sort it by diet. I've got another blood test next week. I'm trying to live on steak and spinach till then! I looked back on the old threads to find a recipe I think Vjay posted for soup - was it watercress or spinach soup? Does anyone still have it, i couldn't find it?

Neeko you be careful, I'm glad your bruises are getting better.

monkeybumsmum - hello!

Iggy I'm really pleased everything is going well, is it 9 weeks tomorrow? I had scans at 5+2 (for pain), 7+4 (reassurance), 9+5(bleed), 12 weeks (dating), and 20 weeks. I would never have stayed even slightly sane without them.

Moon Big hug for last weeks EDD.

4Ever 15 weeks now?? Well done for getting yourself into a baby shop - it really takes some doing the first time. My DH left after 2 minutes and went next door to Halfords the first time we tried it! In fact we only started getting ourselves a bit more organised with buying stuff in the last 2 weeks. (much nagging from my friend who gave birth at 32 weeks 3years ago and hadn't even bought 1 thing).

annie - gorgeous pics!

Curly ouch to your 12 hour shifts! - I really don't think I could do it now.

Well I've been really busy at home finishing off all the half finished decorating jobs. Just got to paint and tile the utility room and then can start on the nursery. I've got so much more energy now I've finished work and can do things at my own pace. I've been going to yoga every week and swimming 2-3 times a week too. The swimming is great, definately stops the back ache. I've found a little pool nearby that only ever seems to have about 4 people in it, so I don't mind looking like a whale in a swimming costume. Also I've been taking 2 other pregnant friends with me for moral support - come on MrsKate you need to join us for a swim!

My braxton hicks seem to be coming more often now and are alot stronger. I had a run of them whilst driving to a christmas meal on friday night and scared myself to death. I was on a country road miles from civilisation with no mobile signal and had 4 contractions 5 minutes apart - not good for my nerves!!

Who was it who recommended Natal Hypnotherapy CDs for pregnancy relaxation and to prepare for birth?? I looked at the website - got scared by the £40 plus p&p for 4 Cds so looked on Ebay. I got all 4 CDs for less than £4 each. So far only listened to them once but they seem quite helpful.

Ok I'm off to get dinner - hungry!!

VJay · 14/12/2009 18:27

Hiya gracie it was mermaids recipe for watercress soup and I've still got it.....

....ok,

1 or 2 bags of watercress
1 onion
1 garlic clove
2tbsp flour
1pt chicken/veg stock
1/4 pt milk
parsley
single cream
bit of butter

melt butter, add onion, garlic, parley and gently cook. Add watercress, cover and cook for a few minutes. Stir in the flour, remove from the heat and add the stock and milk, bring to the boil, stir and simmer for 5 mins. Blend and add the cream.

It's very very tasty

CurlyBigPants · 14/12/2009 18:52

mermaid brave lady big phew for you. That all sounds good, and don't worry there is practically nothing to see this early anyway compared to 6 weeks which is why they are always so reluctant to scan I'm so sorry I didn't post to wish you luck this morning I was half way through posting last night and had a massive vomitrocious episode that resulted in crawling to bed before any more came up. I've been thinking about you all day and couldn't wait to get home and check MN. Hang in there till Wed and in the meantime lots of sticky baby dust is making its way down to Cornwall to you xxxx

Great news from 4ever too and big waves to everyone. I am actually going out tonight (yes really...out ) but will hopefully catch up with you all tomorrow xxx

GracieGirl · 14/12/2009 19:07

Thanks Vjay (and Mermaid).

bluesatinsash · 14/12/2009 19:51
  • its official, Christmas is here . Barbie can stumble upon them when she wakes . So Vjaymerrilyonhigh - going for a new name this year ?

Mermaid - hope you're in your dressing gown now and your DS is tucked up in bed feeling better. you have done so well just getting through this first scan and hope your photo is one of many. I back what curly says about them not liking to scan before 6 weeks. My midwife sonographer was very reluctant to see me this time as I was just 6 weeks as she knew how devastated women are after mc if they go at 6 weeks and don't see a heartbeat when in reality alot of the time its just too soon to see anything. We are all here, rooting for you and mermaidbean xx

Curly - can't believe you're still being sick you poor thing. Enjoy your night out .

Barbie - how was your ante-natal class?

OP posts:
cupcakefairy · 14/12/2009 19:59

mermaid I'm keepingg everything crossed too and hoping they can tell you more once they have bloods.. I remember Kate aking lots of posts about hcg count going up and hopefully that will be you this time

4ever woooop to another great scan!

curly I can't believe how much your girl is making you suffer you poor thing. Hope you have loads of fun tonight

Hi Gracie looking forward to seeing your bump pic! Mine is growing at an alarming rate now and it's kinda freaking me out! (Because I know we have to move before baby comes and this feels like it's happening too fast!) Dh said last night that I look lovely with a bump though which was sweet.

We get to hear hb tomorrow when our lovely friend of the family comes over...my sisters are here then too so hope baby puts on a good show for everyone Throat-burn worse than ever tonight though; think it might be time to go beg for Gaviscon!

Ooh festive name changes

ChristmasCupcake · 14/12/2009 20:01

...

Neeko · 14/12/2009 21:35

Hi all.
Mermaid reading the other posts reminded me that my EPU told me not to phone before 7 weeks as they prefer to scan at 8 weeks, for the same reasons as everyone mentioned. Bless you for thinking about me being knackered when your mind's taken up with other things. Hope DS is feeling better.

4ever said it by text but yay again and sorry for my dodgy phone.

christmascupcake love the name but I'm sticking with supersticiousblue and not changing.

Gracie Nice to have you back. You sound pretty chilled and I've heard that plenty of braxton hicks make for an easier labour. It was me who mentioned the natal hypnotherapy cds. I only have the labour one but really like it. Time will tell if it works!

Vjay Your milk must be too good - Ajay is always hungry!

Curly Enjoy your night out - you deserve it.

Barbie ante-natal classes and almost on mat leave - it's getting real.

Jools are you lurking or just busy? Hope all is well with you.

MLS Hope your DD is bouncing back the way only toddlers can and saying "Santa's coming" on a loop!

Big waves to everyone else

Neeko · 14/12/2009 21:37

Oops! Meant to post to Blue any sign of baby yet? Tell him/her if he/she hurries up, Santa will bring presents. Otherwise it's a loooong wait til next Crimbo!

4everhopeful · 14/12/2009 22:29

Hey girls.. Just cried my eyes out watching amanda holden train as a midwife on itv! Just poppin in quick to say thanks & love to u all for today as always, but really really wanna echo u all to Mermaid, as queen of the early scan, Epu would never scan me before 6+4, ideally 7 as u dont see hb before & is too distressing to not see much, i was 7 this time & never before 6 previously. It also made me melt that this was ur first ever pic.. Now i know ur dates im very hopeful as apart from being very early you also have a very short cycle which could make u even earlier still, my 31day cycle meant im 4days later than they originally dated me cos they stick everyone at 28days standard until the official dating scan at 12wks, ur cycle only being 24days prob means ur only just 5w 0 days so def to early to see anything at all & that still depends when u ovulated.. Im quietly optimistic when u take all that into consideration.. Big hug, hopefully ur sleepin now & will read this tomorrow... Will post to the rest of u then but good to see you gracie! X x x x x

littlebellsmum · 14/12/2009 22:45

quick post whilst lurking - first, sorry - my mw appt isn't untill Friday, so sorry if anyone was concerened that I hadn't posted.

ChristmasCupcake Gaviscon is both disgusting and fantastic at the same time. Personally prefered the tablets ( esp the extra cool ones) to the liquid but know others who loved the other one. Having said that, I have a horrid memory of waking up with a half disintegrated tablet on my tongue....yuck,, yuck , yuck!

Mermaid Someone as lovely as you will have good luck. It will be fine.

mermaidspurse · 15/12/2009 10:04

to wake up and read all those lovely posts has made me all weepy.

gracie thank you so much for posting that through to me, so thoughtful and I am so glad you are all happy and nesting.

I sometimes bung the odd carrot in with that soup as well btw and I think it is meant to have parlsey in it too but the slugs ate all mine. I am going to start paying ds 1p for every slug collected and thrown over the wall!

curly enough with this sickness woman you must be wrung out with pucking but have probably developed ace stomache muscles, trying to find a silver lining for you

4ever I reckon you are right re the dates and from looking at gracies and my picture there is a lot of difference.
I forgot to send you and dh a big gold star for going into a baby shop. That is impressive bravery and I am glad you enjoyed yourselves. Hope you are feeling ok after your scan yesterday and thank you for the hand holding.

cupcake enjoy listening to your bean

blue we will have to start foot taping at this rate. Time to start eating pineappple and currys. Glad you are getting chances for a snoozes. Thinking of you lots.

Time to pretend to be busy all day

iggypiggy · 15/12/2009 10:15

morning girls!

gg lovely to see you again! Can't believe that you finished work - must be so much nicer for you. And good that your DH is moving to a nearer job in Feb.

mermaid thinking of you for tomorrow. I hate hate hate needles - so am especially sympathetic about that part.

4ever another Yay for you and your latest scan! I wish I'd seen that programme - i meant to watch it...

cupcake so cool you get to hear hb again today - also loving the christmas name!

curly can't believe you still feel so rough - sounds so horrible. but i hope you manage to enjoy your night out! Also - am sure it was you that mentioned meeting up in London and I would be up for that too xx

barbie antenatal classes sound scary... but also exciting that you getting close to the end!

neeko hope you feeling happier and less stressed? hope you going to get a chance to chill out soon.

come on babyblue we are waiting are we taking bets on boy or girl?

lbm can't believe how quickly you have got to 17 weeks! (although maybe it just seems quick forus and not you!) hope appt goes well on Fri.

jools hope you ok and lurking? Hope you also enjoying the xmas parties etc.

moon hope you ok too? Especially hope you feeling better since your edd passed - I know I did.

MLS so sorry to hear your daughter is so ill - really hope she back to her normal self soon and in plenty of time for Christmas.

monkey hello and hope you ok too?

A big hello to sabs vjay lion annie and buddha and all of our cyber nephews/ neice! Hope you all looking forward to your first family christmas together.

Finally - a small update from me... I am staying clear of mc threads as they are making me go crazy... and I am feeling a bit happier at the mo. I still can't believe it will be ok, but have taken the (possibly contraversial) decision of not booking a 10 week scan. Am going to try to hold out for the 12 week one which is now less than 3 weeks away. But i will reserve the right to panic and book it anyway I had been worrying about feeling a bit better, but I have realised that I still feel bad in the mornings - so maybe is just that symptoms change and come and go... I guess what will be will be etc... right - head back in sand x

iggypiggy · 15/12/2009 10:18

Ah x-posted with mermaid hope you find lots to keep yourself occupied today!

Also forgot the festive smileys

barbie1 · 15/12/2009 10:54

love the new smileys...bout time too mnhq!~

Oh my god...ante natal classes are soooooo scary! I think i sat in shock most of the way through, how the hell can a baby come out of such a small gap yikes!...although to be honest most of the class was good fun, dh and i had the class laughing at us being silly, its the only way to lighten up the mood!..the mid wife provided chocolate too so it was worth going ...only 3 more classes to go..and only 4 more work days...i think i might be having a baby!!!!

mermaid would you like me to email you my first scan pic...the one at 7 weeks something? You will see how little there was to see even though its two weeks later then when you went...

gg good to see you back cant wait to see your bump pics, you might of noticed my fat gut bump pics on fb.

iggy im guessing you are not worried about booking a 10 week scan because you really dont need one....the midwife said that we know when something is up, instinct and all that...so bravo to you and i hope the next 3 weeks fly by for you.

Im at work so had better go, ill post more when i get home...

Speak soon xxx

VJay · 15/12/2009 11:24

Morning, I got my course result today, I got a Grade 2 pass, I missed out on a distinction by 1% , I got 96% in the exam which was a shocker , but 84% overall in the assignments, and I needed to get 85% for a distinction, but that wasn't bad either considering I posted my last assignment a few hours before giving birth . I am really pleased with the result, and dh did say that with all the stress over this year I did good

blue are you still with us? Or are you pushing?

barbie don't worry about the small gap it gets bigger and baby will pop out . Yours is one birth story I can't wait to hear about

gracie have you made the soup yet?

iggy good point barbie made about your scan, trust your instincts, you mustn't need one

MrsKate · 15/12/2009 12:12

hi all

hope everyone is well . im not to good at mo keep having dizzy speels been off work a couple of days i went to my gp thinking maybe a water infection she was horrible and making out i was a overracting pg woman who said this was normal and didnt even dip my wee . i keep getting the same feeling as when my heart has been racing bloody docs on the plus i have my mw appt on thurs.

cupcake yeah welcome to big pants ive moved my big bum up

mermaid yeah on scan and hope wednesday gives you the best crimbo pressie

ive not done anything for crimbo either im so lazy

barbie1 · 15/12/2009 13:30

vjay congrats on your test results, bummer about the 1% though!
Ha ha at looking forward to my birth story, you and me both know something funny is bound to happen!

mermaidspurse · 15/12/2009 13:41

vjay only umemployable people who sit in garets get Firsts. You are one of these naturally talented and very clever people who happen to have a very busy life too. Big well done, an amazing achievement.

kate you poor thing, it is horrible when you get the gp who wished they were still in bed and is grumpy as hell. Maybe the mw will make sure you get checked over. Rest lots.xx

barbie yes I think you will probably be able to sell your birth story cos its bound to be a good one. We will have to order in the popcorn girls
This bit is the worst the thinking and anticipation. When it happens just clout dh over the head as much as you need to, it helps.

iggy the august anti natal has already had a couple of mc and it feels like mc will always stalk us, don't worry your body knows it is ok. You are doing so incredibly well but any slight worry then just make that next appointment.

I need a siesta.

iggypiggy · 15/12/2009 13:48

vjay congrats on your results! Can't remember what course you are doing?

vjay barbie and mermaid I do hope you are all right - i was v. panicky at the weekend, but am much calmer this week and I hope it is because all is ok... I really do...

mermaid the july one has had a few mc's too... I guess there will be more between now and 12 weeks - i just so so hope that this time it doesn't have to be me...

mermaidspurse · 15/12/2009 14:09

iggy it is not going to be you and that is all I am saying on the subject Xmas Biscuit awww why can't I have a christmas biscuit?

I am glad you are feeling ok atm, we need the little oasis of calm between the weebling.

I have to be at epu at 8.30 in the morning. that will teach me for going in so early for my scan won't it!

mls please let us know that you and dd are ok cos we worryxxxx.

4ever afternoon lovely
