gumblossom · 23/12/2009 23:23

Congratulations ILGH!!!I am so happy and excited for you. I hope you'll stick around, don't completely leave us, as I'll miss you.
What's your due date? I guess Cherie was right this time with her prediction?

Fingers crossed for Hippy chick too.

I am hoping Cherie is right for me too, and I'll get preg in the next three months if not this month.

Lucky, I am so so sorry to hear your heartbreaking news. I hope there is something they can do for you. I believe a lot of vr patients have good results after taking prednisolone for inflammation.

Well, more Christmas prep today.I will be glad when it's over TBH.I am so sick of cooking, baking and cleaning, not to mention spending a small fortune. Next year I am opting out!!I think I may have said that before!

Have a Merry day tomorrow(it is Christmas Eve here).

KiwiKat · 24/12/2009 11:01

ILGH, that's wonderful news. Hippy, fingers are crossed for you. Luckywebby, very sorry to hear things aren't so good, and Spiral, hope things become less frustrating soon. Rowing, maybe a prediction for next Christmas?

spiralqueen · 24/12/2009 11:07

Congrats ILGH - what a great Xmas present. Sending sticky vibes your way.

Lucky It must be very tough for you at the moment - hopefully the docs can offer a solution. Take care.

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone

thefatladyscreams · 24/12/2009 17:22

Wow ILGH - that's fantastic news! Got my fingers crossed for hippy as well. What a great close before Christmas.

Sorry for not being around much - been manic with work, snow bound and power cuts (lost heating ). Now defrosting and warming up but unfortuanately AF arrived early on Monday. Was a bit pissed off as had the inevitable hope of the Christmas BFP (would have been due to test today) but worked my way through that with the help of some pre-Christmas vino! My last cycle had been text book - so bit worried that I've now had yet another short cycle plus slow raises in my temp. But oh hell, worry about that in the New Year.

Spiral - I've got my mouth firmly shut so no fat lady is going to sing for you!

Lucky - sorry you're having a tough time. It is such a rollercoaster at times - I keep trying to remind myself that things will go up again after each dip.

Kiwi - glad you're feeling better. I found myself getting pissed off at Eastenders the other day when YET ANOTHER character gets up the duff! I swear it's a conspiracy to drive me mad. My acupuncturist advises keeping warm in the second half of your cycle - hot drinks and food etc. Well it seems a good idea in the current weather and a good excuse to huddle under the duvet or in front of the fire!

Pat - I sometimes wonder if the stress of TTC is counter productive and that I'd actually increase my chances by giving up IYKWIM....

Gum - thanks for the advice re the folic acid. I'll be researching that in the new year.

Rowing and woodelf - can't believe you're both ill again. Hope you've used up all your ill heath and here's to a stonkingly healthy 2010 for you both!

Mabh - I'm in the same boat as you. I'm planning to either spend it before I go or give it all to the dog's home .

Anyway, just to wish you all a very happy Christmas, fertile and busy new year and thank you for all your support in the last one. Happy Christmas everyone!

rowingboat · 26/12/2009 00:19

Merry Crimby everyone.
Here's a toast to us all and to a new baby in the new year!!

gumblossom · 26/12/2009 10:39

Hear!Hear!
Hope all is well. We've had a lovely time, gorgeous weather - been to the beach. Feeling all sun-kissed and relaxed.

I'm raising my glass and wishing everyone a fruitful year.

KiwiKat · 26/12/2009 14:08

I second that, Gumblossom. Fruitful is the word for 2010!

rowingboat · 27/12/2009 00:23

Well we are back from DP's parents. I got to hold a gorgeous month old baby - my nephew. He wasn't half crying a lot, cor his poor mother!
Still it was really sweet to walk up and down with him so she could have a rest.
It could be AF tomorrow and possibly the start of the frozen embryo transfer cycle, but whilst it would be nice to get on with it, I don't think I am in the best physical shape at the moment. Am definitely feeling a bit PMS'y.
Gum that sounds divine, lying on the beach, how lovely. We were driving through quite the opposite scenery today, lots of snow.
It's funny the contrast in the Christmas's.
I have only done one sunny Christmas - in the Canaries, it was very nice, different.

Kiwi old bean. How's tricks? Did you have a nice Crimby?

Yes fruit all round!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 27/12/2009 11:00

I'm back! but . Still no AF, 3 days late but now getting negative tests. Off to doc this afternoon for bloods but looks like another chemical pregnancy. Still, won't know for another day or so when the bloods come back or AF arrives.

At least I can have a drink on New Year's Eve now! The lovely news though is that my sil, who arrived to stay on Christmas Eve, is pg - a week ahead of me or where we would have been. I am delighted for her as they've been trying for ages. Think she's as upset as me about my current negative results though.

Well, here's to us all having a luck turnaround very soon. Cheers!

Woodelf · 27/12/2009 12:09

Hi Ladies,
Hope your Christmases were lovely! ILGH thinking of you - must be hard right now.
Just about getting rid of cold but DH done back in so still no BD - given up for this month - maybe it's just not the right time?

Looking forward to 2010 being a great year for everyone

rowingboat · 27/12/2009 17:53

Hi all,
ILGH sorry to hear the tests are showing negative. It is great news that you can even get to chemical pg stage though, it means the sperm and egg are actually meeting - which is half the battle.
I kind of think that you have to go through a few of these cps or even early mcs when you get older because the egg quality is reduced, until you get the good one that sticks.
Not very easy I know, but it seems to be quite common.
Sorry though!
Good news about your SIL though, hope it's a sticky one.

Woodelf I'm glad to hear you are on the mend. I can see why this wouldn't be a great time if your poor old DH is laid-up.
It's nearly time for new year resolutions so you can clamber onto a tread mill and be in tip top shape by January the 2nd.

gumblossom · 27/12/2009 23:09

ILGH, sorry to hear about your neg tests, how upsetting.

Snow at Christmas sounds so lovely Rowing.I have had two white christmasses which were so memorable.I would love to do it with my kids one day. They'd love it.

I am starting to lose the will for another pregnancy/baby. My 16 month old is sick again. Which has meant a huge lack of sleep for the last three nights and major clinginess the rest of the time, and severe attachment to the boob. I feel I will never ovulate, day after day of negative opk's is getting me down and it seems pointless to keep taking my temp every morning after distubed nights and very little variation. If I hadn't paid for a FF subscription, I wouldn't bother with charting at all! Perhaps I should just let it all go anyway, relax and see what happens.
For me it is not the end of the world if we don't have another, I have been so lucky to have 5 healthy ones already. However, I did think it'd be nice for ds3 to have a sibling who isn't 8 years older.Someone to grow up with. I know many children don't have sibs and they are fine, I had just thought it'd be nice.
I simply don't have the energy or the heart to wean Charlie, especially if he's feeling sick as he has been lately.
Maybe I'll see things differently after a good night's sleep.

Every cloud has a silver lining : all this breastfeeding has me starving and after all the christmas excesses I feel I may have lost a bit of weight! I wake up ravenous after he's been chomping on me all night. I'd rather have the sleep though!

Sorry to whinge so much.

So, where is Ghengis,Summer Sky,GonePearshaped,Vons...et al? Are you still out there reading the thread? Are some of you graduates - have you joined some pregnant group?

So what's your new years resolution? I think I'll keep it simple this year - that I'll take the time to go to a yoga class instead of just saying I will!
Are you all partying NY's eve? We've not made plans yet, and as I usually hit the bedsheets at 8:30, I don't think I'll be seeing in the NY!

hippychick66 · 28/12/2009 18:17

Hi ladies. What a weird christmas. Couldn't drink any alcohol but couldn't tell anyone why so kept mentioning how I was gonna have a glass of wine in a mo. Also I previosly asked my sis to buy snowballs cos they are so christmasy then spent the whole time avoiding them cos they have raw eggs in them.

Basically where i'm at is this... Called my consultant on 23rd and spoke to the secretary she asked him what he thought. He said that he thought a false positive from a cyst was a load of rubbish and he said if she's getting a positive on a reputable pregnancy test then the obvious reason for that is that she's pregnant. He wants to scan me at 6.5 weeks. both DH and I are allowing ourselves to get a bit excited.

Every day that AF stays away and my boobs feel full i allow myslef to belive it a bit more. I think once we've seen it on a scan it will be great. At the moment I just keep thinking how can this be true (consultant was so sure that i wasn't oving etc.)

If it's true I am 5 weeks today. Have so far done 3 tests and all say BFP so is looking good.

ILGH, what's the story with you. How awful to get a pos then a neg. Has AF actually arrived or are you still hopefull? Thinking of you.

KiwiKat · 29/12/2009 00:11

Hippy, glad you're getting excited. ILGH, waiting to hear your news - sorry it's not straightforward. Hello ROWING, am finding Christmas a bit weird this year, as we've hosted a motley collection of friends here, rather than head oop North to DH's family, so felt more like a waitress than party girl. Not drinking didn't help ... How's your cold? And how is everyone else doing, this fine frosty evening?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 29/12/2009 05:48

Lovely to hear from you hippychick, I really hope it'll be good news. Do you have a scan appointment yet?

My beta hcg cam back at 9.17. This is at the bottom end of the range for two weeks gestation - average is about 50. I know it's about how quickly it goes up though, so will get the doc to takemore bloods when I see her this afternoon. If it's doubled, it'll be a better sign. Do have a bt of brown spotting but I had that with my first and third pregnancies so not sure if it's another sign or a coincidence. All we can do is wait.

hippychick66 · 29/12/2009 20:37

ILGH how frustrating all this waiting is. Trust us two to be the awkward ones - everyone else just goes, "got a bfp, I'm preg", but not us, were special .

Really hope we are both preg - we'd be due at the same time - get me being all optimistic!

Keep us in the loop.

I was looking over on the pregnancy threads to see if there was an over 40 preg group like ours but i just kept thinking - I want it to be you lot who i talk to about it. So we've all got to go over to the other side together.

I've got an appointment at GP's on Monday morning to talk to her about my bfp and see if i can get an early scan on NHS to confirm it - consultant will charge us over £150 (just to possibly confirm that he was bloody well wrong!!!) Bit of a cheek isn't it.

Here's hoping 2010 will be a happy and healthy time for us all. Good luck to everyone, don't forget your new years BD!!!

rowingboat · 30/12/2009 00:54

Hi all,
whoop, whoop Hippy of course it isn't a cyst! Can't wait to hear about your scan.

ILGH what a pain having to wait for the blood test results.

Kiwi who are these motley friends pray tell? What does motley mean exactly, are they mottled? I use these words and I really don't know what they mean.

Gum poor you being up all night and Charlie the little sausage. I hope he picks up soon. It's peculiar, I thought you would be less likely to have illnesses because it is the Summer there, but he sounds as bad as my DS.
You are very good to manage temping, I just could not do that, we co-sleep still and DS always wakes up first and starts singing Star Wars songs in my ear.

I'm starting to feel a bit more human now, having had a few days at home, slobbing. I started to feel guilty about it today, but staying away from ill people is doing me the world of good.
Still not sleeping very well, keep waking up feeling horrid, wah!! It is so horrible that I dread going to bed because I don't want to wake up a couple of hours later feeling sick or weird or both.

AF was supposed to arrive on the 27/8th and no sign so far, so things are not back to normal, what a surprise! [wry face]

ILoveGregoryHouse · 30/12/2009 04:21

Morning all. Well, it's bad news. Am bleeding very heavily and went to doc, she scanned me and there's nothing there. Luckily body is clearing itself out so no need for drugs. Am v . Will avoid listening to Editors or The Smiths for a few days.

I'll be back soon. Take care all.

gumblossom · 30/12/2009 05:19

ILGH, so sorry to hear your news. Please don't stay away too long, I'd miss you. You'll get your sticky bean soon, I know that is no consolation, I'm sure you feel very sad right now. It sucks being older, but you'll get your good egg.

Rowing, if AF is late for you, is it worth doing a test? I'm sorry, I don't really know the circumstances of your fertility - would it be possible for you to get preg without ivf?

Hippy, so glad to hear you are feeling positive about the pregnancy. I hope your ultrasound goes well. I'm agast at the consultant charging so much. What a cheek!
Are you feeling any morning sickness?
Would love to come over to the other side with you Hippy.Alas, nothing happening yet...

Thanks for your kind thoughts Rowing, Charlie is on the mend now, though still has a very snotty nose.It does seem odd that he has a cold in the middle of summer, I'm just glad he doesn't have the gastro bug that is doing the rounds, and touch wood it doesn't come to my house at all! I just hate gastro bugs and all the mess that goes with them! YUCK.
Rowing, are you still feeling sick from flu or something?Must be awful waking in the night and feeling off. Unless it's morning sickness (which I usually have all day), then that is acceptable.

My DDs have just come back from spending two nights with their cousins - it is lovely to have them back- I missed them and Charlie certainly did.

How's everyone doing? Anyone got anything exciting planned for 2010 (apart from us all getting pregnant and having babies that is)?

Think I might have an afternoon nap.

rowingboat · 30/12/2009 12:57

Hi all,

ILGH sorry, that is so hard for you! I hope it is all over quickly and you can move on and get your sticky one.

Gum no chance! Have been too ill to be bothered with bding. DP not happy, but I was feeling too ill and not sleeping.
I actually think it is going away now, it was probably the congestion in my ear causing the problem, it couldn't clear with all the colds and congestion.
I'm glad to hear Charlie is on the mend. If anyone comes near you with a tummy bug run away!!!

We are going for a Hogmanay meal with at least one set of parents and DS so it will be very nice and relaxed.
Right off to put out some washing (it's lovely and windy)

KiwiKat · 31/12/2009 00:47

Oh, ILGH - I'm so sorry to hear your news. x

AF has arrived today, but it hasn't sideswiped me like the last one did - have just lifted my chin, tightened the bootstraps and will be marching grimly to the marital bed for one last bout of bd from cd9-cd15.

Hope you all have splendid New Year's celebrations, wherever in the world you are, and sending heartfelt wishes that 2010 will be happy, fruitful (the word d'annee, if you remember!) and loving.

tetleytea · 31/12/2009 11:18

Hi everyone, just dropping in very quickly to say Happy New Year (and decade!) to you all, looking forward to ctaching up with all the news soon. All the best and wishing us all lots of beautiful babies in nthe new year

tt x

tetleytea · 31/12/2009 18:42

Finally got 5 mins and a computer free to catch up on the last few weeks' news. had to read fast!

ILGH I'm so sorry to hear about what happened...sending a big virtual hug and hope you're ok.

hippy SO pleased for you! It's brilliant news for the beginning of the new year. All the best.

Looking forward to catching up with you all a bit more in jan. Right now am in the snowy winter wonderland that is edinburgh. xx

ILoveGregoryHouse · 31/12/2009 20:28

Just popping on to say Happy New Year - only half an hour left of 2009 here, thankfully!

Tetley, didn't realise you were in Edinburgh. Am from there originally.

Hippychick, got everything crossed for you for Monday.

Thanks all for your kind wishes. Hope you all have good evenings.

rowingboat · 01/01/2010 00:34

Happy New Year everybody.

We didn't see our families after all they got a bit stuck because of the weather and chose not to travel.
Quite a quiet meal with DP and DS and a lovely walk in the dark, looking at the sparkly lights and poking frozen puddles with sticks (mainly DS).
Got a bit teary at midnight because 2009 was a hard year for us with the two sets of treatment and then the being under the weather.
Thank goodness no more hormones being pumped into me until I hit the menopause of course.
Oh and I live in Edinburgh. Waves at Tetley.
It's very cold this Winter, normally it would be raining and no sign of snow and all the fireworks would go phhhsssss and phut.
Here's a little glass of cava and a twiglet raised to us all and ginormous hugs to us.
