THanks for that info re the EWCM - very helpful and I will try to jump on DH this eve!

Imma nice to see you back and good luck with your bonkathon too.

curly don't give up hope, will keep fingers crossed for you.

zipps hope you feel better soon.

Have a good weekend everyone xx

sevans · 30/10/2009 16:49

zippys sorry you feel bad. Hopefully it wont last long and you get lots of BDing in this weekend! You too Ozzie, good luck jumping DH and lots of BDing this weekend as well!

Imma, looks like we will be on the 2ww together since I think I ovulated Tuesday and you think you did Thursday. How fun for me to be on the 2ww FINALLY!

Curly I'm sorry your temp fell down but it could mean nothing. We will see what it is tomorrow.

My temp fell down some today too but was still high enough for FF to determine ovulation since I've had three days of higher temps. It's so great to see my chart actually showing ovulation rather than the nonsense it did my first cycle that lasted 100 days! I'll find out for sure if I ovulated Monday when I go do my blood work. Crossing my fingers!

Thanks for the update Claire - glad you've decided on way forward and hope things start to look up from here

sevans - wise words about seeing what temp is tomorrow - cause it's way back up again! Me so happy... Glad your chart is looking good too [cheers!]

I hope zippy and ozzy are off having healthy bonkathons

Where's is everybody else? Probably off enjoying RL unlike me...

Hello eveyone,

I am feeling a lot better now thanks, still a a bit bunged up but feeling less ill though DP is was away last night and tonight so hoping that missing out on bd'ing today will be ok. No signs of ovulation yet so think it will be ok.

Glad to see ovulation signs Curly and sevans, I will look forward to hear of boob jiggling etc in the next two weeks

claire hope you are feeling a little better I think staying off the pill is a good idea.

I had some good news on Friday, as I have mentioned before, I knew it could take a while to concieve due to mediation I am on. The medication is to stop anaphylaxis shocks (like a severe allergy - throat closing in and heart stopping) I have always been really worried that if I had to use my epi pen when pregant it would cause me to miscarry, however I have found out that the baby is so protected that most people that use an epi pen dont miscarry. Also when pregant your body is less allergic so I should have less chance of having one in the first place. This has lifted so much stress from my shoulders and I really hope that the lifting of this stress may help me concieve

Afternoon all,

zippys that is really good news! Must be good to get that weight off your shoulders. I guess you're coming up for the mid-month bonkathon -enjoy

curly hooray for the temp-spike. I guess that means you're on the 2ww with me and sevans now? I hate the 2ww towards the end, but it's still so early that I'm not thinking too much about it at the moment...

claire hope you're doing ok and are getting things worked out in your life!

and hi to everyone else!!

as for me, FF seems to have decided I ov'd on Friday rather then Thursday. It doesn't matter that much, as we still did it that day too -althout I guess by then poor DP's boys were getting a bit tired and worn out...

OP posts:
WhiteRoses · 02/11/2009 08:59

Hi,

I was directed over here from another thread by Chalky and for the past hour and a half I've been reading through the thread, trying to "get to know" everyone and catch up. Unfortunately, I didn't even make it as far as the halfway mark in that time!

In spite of that, any chance I could join, please?

To introduce myself, I'm 24yrs old, was married in July, and my husband (DH - need to get used to all the acronyms around here! :P) and I began to try for our first baby at the beginning of this month. My cycle length is ridiculously inconsistent - anything between 23 and 49 days! I'm on Day 28 of my current cycle and spotted some EWCM on Day 13. (Which would suggest to me that AF may be due now-ish? Perhaps?!) Yesterday, I thought it had arrived, but it appeared quite brown-ish, which I thought odd. Then I went for a brisk 45min walk, by the end of which I expected to be bleeding heavily (which I always do) and there was nothing! Had no period pains either, which is unusual for me. Later yesterday evening, there was a little more pinky/brown blood. I Googled "implantation bleeding" and got my hopes up... The site I was on said you usually get implantation bleeding around 12 days after ovulation (if you're going to get it). My reasoning is; EWCM occurs just BEFORE ovulation (right?), I had mine on Day 13, must've ovulated soon after that (maybe?!), yesterday was Day 27... Sounds about right, doesn't it? Anyway, I've been testing every few days for the past week and a bit (since Day 17, because I MIGHT have been on a 23 day cycle, in which case the tests CAN give results up to 6 days before AF is due - I know, I'm insane - ) but obviously all tests have been BFN. This morning when I woke up there was a little more brownish coloured blood and I took a test (thinking what an idiot, could just be totally in denial, testing while I have my period! ) Test was a First Response one, so shows either one or two pink lines. There was one, so a BFN, but also a dot of bright pink where the second line could have been. Don't know WHAT that was about.

Guess I just need to wait now. Still no period pains, no more blood/anything else since first thing. I'm driving myself mad wondering is there nothing I can do to try and figure this out! But I've been reassured to read through this thread and see I'm not the only one who can think of nothing else but TTC!

So... Can I come in, pretty please?! If I promise not to ramble on like this in every post?!

My details would be; TTC#1 Cycle 1 UCL23-49 CD28

ImmaterialGirl · 02/11/2009 10:00

WhiteRoses you are very welcome!
And this is a good place to ramble... I hope it works quickly for you, but should you ever feel the need to ramble on in despair then this is a good place to do it!

How long have you been tracking your cycles? (since you know how varied they are I mean). I only really started to notice things like cycle lenght once we started TTC, wish I had done so sooner now!

It sounds like you've got it right reg. EWCM, although ov can happen as late as two days after you see it. And also, I think the average time a woman first sees a bfp is 14dpo? So might still be a bit early?

The pink spot on the second line sounds very intriguing!! Was it just one spot, rather than a faint line? I'd probably keep testing in the mornings until your period arrives, but then there are a few of us on this thread that are known to go a bit overboard with too much and too early testing!

My temps are still up, and FertilityFriend finally decided this morning that I ov'd on Friday, so I am 3dpo. And now the madness begins...

Hi Immaterial Girl and Kkas,

Thank you both for adding me to the list! And for the warm welcome you've given me!

Immaterial Girl, I've always had dodgy cycles. I tracked them over quite a few months for my doctor when I was in my late teens and she put me on the pill. I came off the pill about a year ago (when DH and I first decided we'd definitely go for it not long after the wedding) and I've been tracking my cycles again since then. Comparing how I was before I went on the pill, and how I am now, there's very little change. Cycle length 14-43 days before pill, 23-49 days now.

The EWCM, I didn't track. I didn't actually know about it until I read about it on Mumsnet a few weeks ago - this place is great for "innocent" people like me! I'd seen it before, obviously, but never thought anything of it - didn't even click that it was happening only once a month, let alone smack bang in the middle of my cycle! Anyway... Moving on!

EWCM on Day 13 + (potentially) 2 days (which I didn't know, by the way, so thank you!) means ovulation on Day 15, and + 14 days (also didn't know! ) means Day 29, which means tomorrow... I was basing it on period being due round about now (maybe!) and the test advertising that it can tell up to 6days early.

Yeh, there was the bright pink negative line (which would be there anyway) and then a bright pink (just as dark in colour) dot beside it, where (I imagine) the positive line would be. Just a tiny dot, right at the top of the window, and you have to look closely to see it. Weird. I'd have tested again but my bladder was empty!

What I've been doing is I've been testing on days that I'd be free to go to the doctor's if I got a BFP. Working early shifts tomorrow and Wednesday so was going to test again on Thursday, when I've got a late shift. But now I'm actually considering testing again this afternoon using a Superdrug test (which I've read can be more sensitive?). That seems a bit nuts though, when I know I should really just wait and see! But the bleeding/not bleeding is so bizarre, as is the dot... I'm going to drive myself (and everyone else!) mad at this rate!

You're just starting your wait... Oooh! Not a bit envious!

Hope you have a good week, Kkas.

spookypixiebroomstix · 02/11/2009 11:54

Hello all. Welcome WhiteRoses !!

I've been lurking but feeling a bit quiet. My CB Monitor arrived yesterday, too late for me to start using it this month which is really frustrating. So another 19 days or so and I can start my scientific approach to TTC! Until then, the bonkathon continues

Really must change out of my halloween name...

CurlyCasper · 02/11/2009 13:43

Hello all and welcome fresh meat!

Well, my temp dropped below the coverline today. I'm soooo hoping it's a one-off. Although with a weekend away planned and a day at a conference next Tuesday, it would be just typical for me period to show up and an inopportune moment. If ov detection was right I'm due on on the 11th. Such a long way away...

Should be able to get my blood results tomorrow though.

Hope your Mondays are more exciting than mine!

sevans · 02/11/2009 15:26

My temp dropped just below my coverline yesterday and I was kind of bummed out. I kind of got myself excited thinking it could be an implantation dip but 5 days past ovulation is a little early for that. This morning it shot way up and is higher than any days it has been since ovulation. So weird! I did my blood test this morning to check my progesterone to see if I did indeed ovulate. I should get the results tomorrow. And curly you are getting results tomorrow too! Crossing my fingers for us!

Welcome whiteroses!

Spirael · 02/11/2009 17:30

Hi all! Sorry, not had chance to catch up on everything since I last stuck my nose in yet, but I hope things are going well for everyone.

Not so well here, unfortunately. Looks like my lucky month wasn't so lucky after all, as I'm on day 19 and still not even got the smallest hint of a temperature increase. So it looks like no ovulation for me this time. My cycle is usually pretty regular.

It's kinda worrying, really... But there's not a whole lot I can do except for sit on my hands and wait for the 'pleasure' that is AF to show up, then hope next month turns out better!

But anyway, this was mostly just to check in with you all and show that I haven't fallen off the planet, yet! I'll endeavour to read back over all the posts later.

aly323 · 02/11/2009 18:03

I just wanted to say a quick hello and welcome to the new people. WhiteRoses, I'm very curious as to the pink dot. I'm obsessed with reading about this stuff and I've never come across that! Hopefully it's a little preview of what's to come on your next test. I don't think you're in denial, but then again, I've had full blown periods and temp drops where a little unreasonable part of me that kept hoping that maybe I was still possibly pregnant. Do you have any other signs or symptoms??

Good luck to both Curly and Sevans. As fertility Friend says, a one day drop means nothing (except maybe implantation!!) so all's good.

Spirael don't give up hope for this month! Last month, I had the same thing and O'd 20 days later than usual. This month, I didn't O on the usual date, but had a positive OPK yesterday and today, eight days later than expected.

I feel like an advertisement for OPK's and BBT. I'm such a huge fan. They really let me know what's happening with my body and If I was going by the "averages" I would be missing my O every single month. I know they don't work for everyone, but they help me a lot.

I threw a baby shower for a friend yesterday. It was a little bittersweet because I had hoped to be pregnant by now. There were a few babies there and lots of talk of babies, pregnancy, etc. There must have been loads of positive baby energy because I came home and was surprised by the positive OPK. Funny how things work. Now I just have to get DH to keep going for a couple more days. Easier said than done...

WhiteRoses · 02/11/2009 18:57

Hi Spookypixie, Curly, Sevans and Aly,

Spookypixiebroomstix - that's a great name! What's your non-Halloween name? Fingers crossed for you that you might not need to try the scientific approach!

Curly - I never realised before how frustrating waiting is! Good luck!

Sevans - sorry, I'm very new to all this. How do you check your blood? What does that mean?!

Aly - Lol! Trust me to be so different then! I didn't know if pink spots were common or what! Biazrre! It would be nice if the dot were to turn into a line next time but we'll see...

I went out earlier and bought some Superdrug tests, thinking of trying one, but when I read the instructions, they said that they were only effective 15 days post ovulation. My EWCM was 15 days ago today so ovulation must have been after that and therefore today would have been too early to use those tests so I didn't bother. I think now I'll just wait until Thursday and try and put it out of my mind... Yeh, right! Like that's going to work!

Anyway, I've been going mad trying to find symptoms but my body doesn't seem to be giving me much to go on... Only thing, ealier on I was giving myself a bit of a grope in order to suss out if my boobs were at all painful or sensitive (they're not!) and I sort of laughed to myself thinking the only different thing about my boobs was that my nipples seemed a bit dark. Thought "trust me, that's not even a symptom!" but then I read online about half an hour ago that sometimes it can be... So who knows? Now I'm wondering if they even are dark?! Funnily enough, up till now, I've not spent too much time gazing at them! I've had a couple more little spots of brown blood throughout the day. Very weird. And what a disgusting topic! Lol! For the past hour or so, I've felt my tummy a little funny too but then I haven't eaten since lunchtime so it could just be hunger... See how mad I'm going?! This can't be normal! I need to get back to work (today was my day off) and just stop obsessing!

I totally see what you mean about the baby shower, by the way. But good news about the OPK, I think... (What's an OPK? ) Good luck over the next few days with DH though!

CurlyCasper · 02/11/2009 19:13

Ah whiteroses, welcome to the TTC madhouse! You sound like you fit in just fine!

sevans i could kiss you for the temps reassurance. Let's hope I go up tomorrow and can (with any luck for us both) follow you all the way to a BFP.

I did google implantation dips, and a Fert Friend study did show some at 5DPO... (wishful!)

spir nice of you to pop back. Give it time and sure you will ov.

aly I love your enthusiasm. {smile] Seeing as your charts are so clear, what's the highest your temp ever reaches?

WhiteRoses · 02/11/2009 19:42

Thank you Curly! I never would have believed I could be so neurotic! Lol!

sevans · 02/11/2009 20:04

curly, kisses accepted!! Wow, so 5DPO is possible for an implantation dip. Now I'm excited! I know you didn't ask me, but my highest temp this cycle is 98.04 and it was today, 6 DPO.

whiteroses the blood test I took this morning is a test to check your progesterone level to see if you ovulated. This test is generally given to women who take Clomid (a medication that induces ovulation). October was my first month of Clomid and maybe last if I am pregnant!! DH and I started TTC in July and I didn't get one period in all of July, August, or September (just a lot of brown spotting) so I went to see my doctor. She prescribed the Clomid which I took days 5-9 of my cycle and here we are today. I think I ovulated on day 17 because of my temperature shift and crazy cramping and pressure I had in my ovary area. I should hear from my doctor tomorrow to get my results. I was diagnosed with PCOS about six years ago when I went to an endocrinologist because of irregular periods so it really was no surprise to me to not get my period at all the first three months of TTC.

CurlyCasper · 02/11/2009 20:56

Thanks sevan. My high so far is 98.62 (so quite high then!) Pre-ov they are between 97.1 and 97.6. I'm becoming such a temp geek!

aly323 · 02/11/2009 22:25

WhiteRoses, opk= ovulation predictor kit. I started using expensive clearblue smiley face ones, but quickly moved on to dollar store and internet cheapies. You can get a mix of opk's and hpt's online for very cheap. It's great if you like using them and if they work for you. Also, I had some leftover expensive ones that I have used to confirm the cheapies (I just use it once I think the cheapie is positive) and the cheapies have been correct each time. I get positive results for two days and usually have O pains the second day. It seems to be different for everyone though.

Curly, my temps are pretty close to yours. 97.4-97.8 pre-O and 98.3-98.6 post. It runs up and down a little within those ranges. My temp rise starts slow, but is steady. I also noticed that my temps don't drop until the day after af arrives. I think I like BBT and opks because they actually give me something to do besides just waiting and guessing. Also, I like that we can target the important time of the month (although that definitely adds to the pressure). I can't imaging trying to do it every other day for the duration of my cycle. I wasn't even that horny in my 20's.

Ozziegirly · 03/11/2009 07:00

Hey everyone

Well, the monthly bonkathon has been ok - although I have a feeling we may have missed the perfect opportunity last night as we were both just tooo tired (and that would have been CD14).

I have decided that if I'm not PG this month, I'll leave it next month as I am on hols with the parents, and then get stuck into OPKs the following month - I seem to have EWCM on and off over 4-5 days, and the temping thing doesn't seem to work as I am a restless sleeper, so hopefully this will help.

Welcome whiteroses as well.

zippys · 03/11/2009 08:54

Hello eveyone,

Welcome whiteroses you sound as neurotic about ttc as the rest of us so I am sure you will fit right in.

Just a quick post from me this morning, and an update of the list. Nothing really to report from my end, in the middle of bonkathon, depending on this cycle length it could be a couple of weeks of Db'ing to ensure I hit ovulation! - we may well be tired this month!!

Sound like there is some poitive news from those of you who temp so keeping fingers (and toes) crossed for you x
