Hi all, still being a bit sporadic here. Immat good to know i'm not the only one with strange easier periods. They are not at all what I'm used to. I'm trying to be a little less obsessive - I'm going for temping (in the vain hope of not getting a nessie pattern this month) and shagging. No OPKs if I can help it. Surely if we do it from day 10 to 25 on a cycle length that ranges from 28 to 38 days we've got to hit the mark somewhere???

Fingers crossed for you claire and very jealous of ozzies weekend away. (I've got the back to work blues).

Hi muser exciting times for you!

lasyem good luck keeping your circulation going!

fulhamgirl · 29/09/2009 08:54

lady Haha youve made me giggle this morning!! Legs in the air lol!!!

curly- My periods were very wired when I came off the pill one would be light then the other would be the heaviest in the world I supose thats what the pill does to us!! I was really lucky falling so quickly apprantly as the pill can completly muck your cycle up for months !!!

Claire - Im so excited for you!! Youve done so well not giving in really well!! Have you any idea of what day your going to test yet? Are you going to try and hold off until the weekend?

muser - Heya hun good luck with your journey!! I bet it was such a nice feeling having the coil taken out knowing next month you are going to be bding!!!! Good luck I will keep an eye on your posts!!

Ozzie-You went away again lol!! DId u get a lot of bding in? lol!!

xxxxxxxxxxxx Nearly time to test again xxxxxxxx

Thanks Imma - I might have a look at monitors for this month, the more I read about ovulation sticks the more unreliable they seem.

Is it today that sevans has her doctors appointment? Am really hoping that they can shed some light on what is going on.

Claire you must have an iron will! I would definitely have cracked by now!

Ladyemmalou83 · 29/09/2009 14:55

So having slept for 14 hours,(yes 14hours, think my night shifts had caught up with me) I wake up with some blood, but not bright red but brownish (sorry if TMI).

Is it too early to have implantation, or have we been trying a bit too hard? I honestly thought I ovulated yesterday, but I could have got it very wrong and ovulated earlier, who knows when ur cycles vary 26-42 days?

fulhamgirl · 29/09/2009 15:36

lady - Lol u go for it girl!!

It could be either really to be honest with you!! But its not to early to be ovulating your around that time now!

Every woman has a different experience during conception and pregnancy it does sound promising though so make sure u keep eating healthy and stop the drinking just in case!!!

xxxxxx

Ladyemmalou83 · 29/09/2009 15:48

Thanks Fulham, really grateful someone got back to me. Were going for dinner at DH bosses house tonight, so guess that makes me the designated driver

sevans · 29/09/2009 16:52

Yes, pixiestix my appointment was today! I think it went well. We first talked and I told her how I haven?t had a period since being off the pill and I have had spotting spread throughout and everyday the last two weeks. She did an exam down there and noticed I did have a lot of old blood (hence the brown spotting) and she wanted to do an internal ultrasound. I got to see my ovaries and stuff on the screen and she said everything was fine. We then went to her office and talked. She said the spotting was because I haven?t been ovulating so there is a lot of old blood. She gave me a prescription for Provera which is a medication that forces a period and a prescription for Clomid which is the ovulating medicine. I take the Clomid days 5-9 of my cycle and hopefully ovulate later on that month. I am supposed to call when I start my period so we can set up an appointment for me to go back some time later in the month so she can run tests to see if I actually ovulated. If I did ovulate but not pregnant, then we will probably try Clomid again the following month. She also wants DH to do a semen analysis before I go back to see her. I understand why. No point on just concentrating on me if he has an issue too.

I feel good because now I actually have a chance at ovulating!

Ladyemmalou83 · 29/09/2009 17:08

Glad it went well Sevans

Muser · 29/09/2009 19:07

Fingers crossed sevan.

claireinthecommunity · 29/09/2009 20:03

Evening everyone

CD1 for me I'm afraid I'm ok about it actually - I have wine

Sevans your appointment sounded really positive, good luck with the new meds

Muser · 29/09/2009 20:41

Can someone explain what CD1 and all the other acronyms in the big list of people mean? I'm trying to work them out and so confused!

Ozziegirly · 30/09/2009 03:46

Sorry to hear you are CD1 claire. Fingers crossed for us both this coming month.

And sevens that is great news, really pleased they have been proactive about it.

fulham it's this weekend we're going away - can't wait!

DH is stressed to the max with work at the mo so it will be nice to get away. His boss is leaving so he has been travelling every day this week seeing clients, leaving at the crack of dawn and coming back late and exhausted, poor thing. I haven't had the heart to instigate a shag. Last night he was asleep before I had even finished cleaning my teeth!

CurlyCasper · 30/09/2009 06:30

Sorry claire - hope the wine was good

Sounds like your doctor was great sevans. Hope everything you are trying works.

ozzie just think about how chilled your husband will be once you get away - and all the fun you can have!

muser for a list of acronyms see here

CD is not on it though! It's Cycle Day - so CD1 is the first day of your period.

ImmaterialGirl · 30/09/2009 06:37

sevans so glad to hear things are progressing for you! It must be such a relief to finally actually do something rather than just wait.... Hope that you get your period very very soon!

claire sorry to hear it's CD1 Not much else to say really... Hope the wine and evening was good and that the coming month is the one!

muser
CD = Cycle Day. The day you get your period is the first day of your cycle.

UCL = Usual Cycle Length. Unless you've been TTC for a long time this is likely to be a ? in the beginning

Cycle 1/2/3 etc. = the number of cycles you've been TTC.

It's just a list we have to see which of us are coming up for testing or mid-cycle shagging really

Men .

ozzie Where are you going at the weekend? It sounds like it is a well needed break tbh. I hope things start picking up for your DH cant be an easy time. Mind you a weekend away from everything means ladys phrase legs in the air time lol.

Claire Im so sorry to hear your on CD1. Obviously wernt meant to be this month. But on the plus side it means wine and bding lol. How much of the bottle did u finish last night? . lol

sevens-thats great news hun I hope it put your mind to rest now that your overies are ok. I cant imagine how stress you must of been getting over it all. Good luck with the new med and glad to know all is well in the ovulating department hears hoping to a BFP before xmas so get that wine in like claire lol. I really miss not having a glass or 2.

Anyone heared from ally? Or know how sky is getting on I know she was poorly.

claireinthecommunity · 30/09/2009 11:55

Morning all

Well, I'm an old lush, still in bed after our wine fueled evening last night DH and I got through the bottle between us (I had a little more than him) and it hit us both hard, neither of us woke up until 10.30 this morning. I am now officially a light weight (DH always was )

I'm feeling strangely relieved about AF. I would of been truly delighted if I was PG but the not knowing in the 2ww is tough. So, I think I'm just pleased to finally know one way or the other.

fulham let us know what flowers your BF gets for you No haven't heard from sky for a while, she had swine flu didn't she? And the same for ally (not hearing from her, not the swine flu)

Immaterial I liked your definition of why we use the list

Yeah Curly the wine was good

It does sound like a much needed weekend away Ozzie, I hope your DH gets some rest

pixiestix · 30/09/2009 12:12

Sevans - thats such good news that your doctor is being so proactive and understanding, there is nothing worse than being fobbed off when you are worried about something. Hope to see you on CD1 very soon.

Claire - sorry to see you down at the bottom of the list with me. This is going to be our month though, positive thinking!!

sevans · 30/09/2009 15:01

Hi ladies! Thanks so much for the well wishes. Yes, I am really happy my doctor is being proactive. We have just been TTC for three months and I'm sure a lot of other doctors would want us to continue trying on our own for a lot longer. I really am excited to have the chance at ovulating! I started my Provera last night and I take it for ten days. I already noticed a temperature rise this morning so I guess it's working and I should get my period soon! Yay for CD 1! I thought I would never be saying that, lol!

claire sounds like you had a fun night with the wine! We all better do like fulham says and get on with our wine drinking because hopefully soon we wont be having any!

aly323 · 30/09/2009 18:07

Hello everyone. I'm still around, just a little on the quiet side. No flu yet, but it looks like it might be hard to avoid this year. I'm in the US and it seems to be everywhere. At least one co-worker and some friend's of friends have had H1N1, many others have other strains. I guess I'll get my shot soon. I'm a criminal defense attorney, so I spend time in the jails and get exposed to all sorts of bad stuff. It's pretty nasty.

It's been a LONG cycle this month, and I'm worn out from the ups and downs. This month I O'd very, very late due to stress. I O'd on cd 39 instead of 21. I'm always very regular, but was thrown off when my dog died. It was very traumatic since there was profuse bleeding and lots of rushing from one place to another. The insane costs and the decisions of what to do really took a toll on me. I have to say, I'm very proud of my little ovaries for not giving up though. They may have been late, but still managed to do it. I'm just glad that I happened to start opks again on that day- I would have missed it otherwise.

Now, I'm deep into my tww. I ws excited because of lots of "symptoms" the few days after O. Now, I realize they were related to O. I'm hopeful for this cycle, but really don't know. I'm 7dpo now, so af could come this weekend for me.

I went for my yearly yesterday and had a great talk with the doctor. I hadn't met her before, and was very happy to find that we were on the same page. She did a vaginal ultrasound and everything was good. She also ordered some blood tests (fsh, etc) so that we can just make sure everything is in working order. She said that she doesn't see the point in waiting since I'm almost 36 and the tests are simple.

She also said, if no BFP next month, we can also get DH's test. However, he is very reluctant, so that'll be fun to deal with. He's not nearly as committed to this as I am. The whole thing scares him. It's tough because I'm the one really pushing this. He's on board, but not like I am- he would wait forever for the "perfect" time. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Congrats Sevans on your good appointment. I bet you felt good knowing that you have a plan in place. I'm glad you have a good doctor. The first one I went to was an idiot and it can be so disheartening.

And Claire, I'm sorry af got you. I was rooting for you. I really thought it was your month.

Hopefully Sky will check in soon with good news. And, good luck to everyone!!!

kkas · 30/09/2009 20:37

hi aly nice to hear from you. i'm really sorry to hear about your dog. that must have been so stressful for you. you're definitely in our thoughts! but good to hear that you ov nonetheless and fingers crossed for that BFP later this week!

Where are you in the US? I'm originally from California, but live in the UK with my husband who is british. also seems like we have more in common in that I'm an attorney too and know what you mean about DH not being completely enthusiastic with the whole TTC thing. like yours, mine is on board and would be happy if it happened, but he has often expressed concern about the change to our finances, etc. especially since we have only finished paying off law school loans, and i am still really at the start of my career. but he says he just wants me to be happy and if it's what i want, then he wants it too.

anyway... nothing to report from me. not even the slightest twinge or anything. what a boring TWW. I have to go to the US on business next week, but plan on testing when I get back on the 10th or 11th, if AF hasn't got me by then.

aly323 · 30/09/2009 20:48

Kkas, where are you from in CA? I'm originally from the midwest and have lived all over the place, but I landed in Los Angeles about seven years ago. It looks like I'll be here for awhile, although I would like to move to a small town before the baby starts elementary school.

The financial thing is really the sticking point for my DH as well. We just took on a mortgage and I still have LOADS of school loans. His business closed last year and he took a big pay cut. However, we're able to make ends meet, and somehow people seem to do it with a lot less than what we have. I just hate feeling like he's only doing it to make me happy. I grew up knowing my father didn't want me. I don't my kid to have to deal with that.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that af misses both of us this month!

kkas · 30/09/2009 20:58

aly i'm originally from the east bay area. i just took the california bar in july just in case we ever want to move back there. boy was that fun! i get my results in november.

we also bought a house last year and so have a lovely mortgage. but thankfully dh has a very good job and we are hoping to be able to save a lot from now until time bubba arrives. as you say, we have a lot to be grateful for and have more than a lot of people who make it work.

i'm sorry to hear that you felt your dad did not want you in his life and i totally agree it would be horrible to put your child through that. if you think that your DH may feel the same way, then perhaps you should speak to him about it as perhaps you are reading too much into his concerns because of your previous experiences? does he like kids generally? do you think he would forget the financial worries once he got to hold that lovely one in his arms? i suppose i'm lucky in that i know my dh really does want one deep down, even if means he might not be able to buy the latest gadgets each month!
