PS: Fifi forgot to say - I know exactly how you're feeling. It's difficult to stay positive especially when you feel you're putting your life on hold without anything to show for it.

Spiral, the herbal remedy DH took was from my acupuncturist. I told her the circumstances and that motility was less than 50%, so she gave me the remedy to give to DH. I'd suggest your DH see a TCM practioner who will prescribe what he needs. I had seen tcm remedies on the net, but I don't think I'd self-prescribe.They weren't very expensive, but I can't remember how much exactly, maybe $20 (about 10 pounds), but it was 2 years ago.

Rowing, how are you feeling? I hope Papa and Toto are snuggling in for a long ride!

Hi everyone,
it's getting a bit busier on here isn't it!
I'm feeling fine, no symptoms, apart from bloated tummy, think it's a bit early for implantation so probably won't have much for a few days yet.
I'm going to be 43 on Monday - wah! How did we get to this age? Good job we all still look fantastic!?

Thanks for all the advise about what counts as day 1. I know I shouldn't really need the sticks and I should just bd every other day but i find it very comforting to see that smiling face (it's like it's saying, "Go for it - this one is really gonna count!"

KiwiKat · 03/09/2009 21:59

Hello lovely ladies, welcome to the newbies. Results of progesterone test show that the progesterone was high on cd22, as it should have been. I'm still concerned that it doesn't stick up there, though, as the temps are all over the place. Not sure what to do next. Back on the clomid, back on the roller coaster. Hope you're all well.

hippychick66 · 03/09/2009 22:42

Spiral & Dixie. We're all pretty much at the same point in our cycle. It's nice to know others will be doing the 2ww at the same time as me. Good luck - go for it!!

I had a baby naturally when I was 41 after 5 years of ttc, 2 early m/c's and 'unexplained infertility. We've been trying for another baby and recently two day 21 blood tests revealed I was not ovulating so have had one month of clomid 50g and doctor has upped it to 100g this month. I'm not being monitored at all so am going to speak to my doctor to ask if they can do some further tests so I've got a better understanding of my chance of conceiving. What should I ask for?

Is Clomid less effective for women our age?
My doc told me to take the pills days 1-5 but I've read over and over it should be 3-7 or 5-9? When is supposed to be the most effective?

Thanks

Angifi · 06/09/2009 09:32

Hi everyone. How are you?
Rowing I hope you are feeling very relaxed, happily incubating Papa and Toto. How do you feel about twins?

I am feeling quite happy, as I am finally having some signs (cervical mucas and saliva ferning)of fertility, although the opk is dark, it isn't as dark as the control line, so maybe I am not ovulating yet. Don't know, we'll have to see what my temperature does in the next few days.It may just be be positive thinking, I did Mia's spell on Friday, and can't help but feel optomistic. And I've been drinking gallons of grapefruit juice.Luckily I like it!

Has anyone else used the internet cheapie opk's? Will the test line be darker,or just close? Last time I was ttc I used a clearblue fertility monitor which was easy, but I sold it on ebay after Charlie was born cos I was sure I wouldn't go for another! Huh!

Have you ladies discussed testing (like amnio etc) before? When I had Charlie I did the 12 week scan and blood test, and I won't do it again, because it just gave me 4 weeks of unnecessary worry. We got a 1:178 chance of trisomy13/18.I didn't know what it was so googled it, and I wish I hadn't.It was devestating. So we waited 4 weeks before we could have a thorough anomoly scan and amnio.I asked for the best doctor in western australia and got a professor in maternal/fetal health. She was fantastic. The scan was pretty conclusive that all was well so we didn't do the amnio. She said it wasn't worth the risk when everything looked so good on the scan. And he is perfectly healthy.

This time (if I am lucky enough) I won't do any tests til an amnio.Actually, I don't really know if I'll do that.I would be so concerned about miscarriage. Have any of you had an amnio or cvs?I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

spiralqueen · 06/09/2009 18:31

Midwife suggested to me that I should go straight to amnio which is what we did. Awful wait to find out if everything was going to be ok but all turned out fine in the end. They quoted a 1:30 chance of problems and we thought that was equivalent to a class of kids and that wasn't too bad odds.

Have a lovely birthday tomorrow Rowing.

KiwiKat · 06/09/2009 22:24

Happy birthday for tomorrow, Rowing! Hope you have a lovely day. And of course, that the rest of you enjoy your Mondays as well. x

rowingboat · 06/09/2009 22:34

Hi everyone,
thank for your birthday wishes. I think Papa and Toto are hanging in there.
I am taking a progesterone gel up the wotsit everyday, so I can't be sure whether I have sore boobs because of the gel or P&T.
Feeling quite calm at the moment.
Not sure about the Amnio question, I think it would depend on the nuchal fold scan and blood tests, there is a risk with amnio isn't there?

hippychick66 · 06/09/2009 22:49

I agree with rowing (hello to P & T). I'd do the nuchal and blood test first and hope that was enough to reassure us.

I read the instructions on the digital OPK sticks and it clearly states that day 1 is counted from when you get full menstrual flow. Sorry guys, I didn't need to ask that queston.

I'm a bit fed up with them actually cos I spent a lot of money on them and then I could never go 4 hours without peeing (thanks to 2 big babies weighing 9.5 pounds and 9 pounds who both inherited their dad's big head - my bladder isn't what it was - . Plus I just found out tonight that your supposed to limit your fluid intake before using them too. My wee was very pale all last week and I'm now on day 14 and pretty sure that I'm ovulating, despite not getting a + on the OPK's at all. All it's done is make me scared that I might not ovulate. Dare say I'll still use them next month anyway - bit addicted!!.

Angifi · 06/09/2009 23:42

Happy Birthday Rowing! Are youi doing anything special for your birthday?

Hippy, I had no idea about waiting 4 hours and limiting liquid intake! So that means that maybe my almost positive opk might have been positive? Ah geez! Especially as I had ferning on the microscope (saliva) and the right kind of C.M.

However I'm still not confident. My temp didn't rise much this morning.Ah well, I'll just wait and see.It is the "waiting and seeing" I don't cope so well with.

Rowing are you doing acupuncture in the 2ww?Or is it supposed to be before the transfer?

What's everyone else up to?

hippychick66 · 07/09/2009 09:41

Phew, I was so convinced that I was either ovulating or about to ovulate that i sat for 3 and a half hours without a wee last night and i drunk nothing during that time. Then at half past midnight i took my last digital OPK stick (remember I started too early so I'd nearly used them all up) and dipped it in the wee sample (which was a good strong yellow colour) - TMI!. The good news... a lovely smiley face. I knew I was right. Well worth the 20 quid that smile cost me . If I use them again i will defo have to hold on for longer between wee's. So i am either ovulating now or am about to - so where's my DH? I've got a job for him!!!

SummerSky · 07/09/2009 11:46

Hello Everyone back from our hols which were great lots of time on the beach and hot, hot sun. Happy Birthday Rowing, hope you get the Birthday present you want and really deserve are they celebrating with you? I really love elderflower sparkly.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will be able to devote more time in the next couple of days back to school (love her but DD is full on and been having some teenager type paddies)
I sorted out the progesterone. Dr wouldn't give me anything as we are trying, they don't apparently have the gel in UK and she didn't even advise Evening Primrose (IMO she's useless) So I started taking Magnesium and B6.
Sorry have to go to wipe DD's B*M. Anyone had any luch with Mia's Spell?

ddilemma · 07/09/2009 14:52

Hi everyone old & new,
Happy Birthday rowing hope you're having a great day.

Great to see lots of new people on. Welcome! Really hope we get some BFPs soon!

Well, all i can say for the "natural approach" (no injections, clomid, drugs of any kind etc) is that it's fantastically side-effect free. I even avoided the pregnancy side-effect! So, yes it's CD1 here...and back to the drawing board

As we mentioned a while ago, kiwi and any other londoners, i realise it's really short notice and i haven't got my act together at all (I'm leaving on saturday)but does anyone fancy meeting up this week in london? I'll be in the centre on thursday and friday and could meet more or less any time of the day. Will have 3 yr old dd with me so any other offspring more than welcome!! Let's compare notes/celebrate/tear our hair out/have a laugh/laugh in the face of adversity over a coffee. (Much as I'd love to say G&T, it seems unlikely...) Let me know!

tt xx
