Lion So glad your scan went well
Barbie Fantastic news about your check up, so pleased you had a wonderful gp who seems to be really looking after you, tip top service by the sounds of it.

Only a quickie from me suffering badly with hangover

Mollie waves half heartedly to everyone else and slopes back to sofa

gingermumi · 21/03/2009 21:06

Hi all. have been so busy with ork, hopefully will be able to get on more often now.

Fab news Lion, so pleased for you, and you too Barbie- must be such a relief that GP is sympatheic and helpful, it's such a lottery. some are good, others don't seem to care less

Gracie I think I'd have called in sick! The whole ovulation test thing is a bit hit and miss (less so than guessing though). It's the surge of hormones that comes before ovulation that it detects so ovulation usually takes place 24-36 hours later and even if you do bd then conception can be a few days later still (long way for the little beggers to swim!). Am in same boat! Have been testing and bding this week too, am on 2ww (well less than that now).
Got testing kits from Babymad (via ebay) they're really good value, discrete and fast delivery. (10 ovulation test, 4 preg tests £1.99) you can buy in bulk too.

have a good weekend all

Joolsiam · 21/03/2009 21:12

Well, I know I wasn't planning on TTC this month, but ...

I can now fit into my size 16 hipster jeans which make me feel quite slim and sexy

Ireland won the grand slam so DP is ecstatic and a bit drun

After an anovulatory cycle, I now have lashings of EWCM and it is only CD7 - must be a sign

Off upstairs - wish me luck girls

GracieGirl · 21/03/2009 21:28

Good luck Jools!!! and even if you're not ovulating yet, there's no harm in practising!!

Ginger - I wish I had called in sick now and driven to see my DH, A&E was really busy and kept thinking about me ovulating rather than the job in hand!! I don't think I'm allowed to skive off as the Sister in Charge though . You never know maybe Thurdays BD'ing may have done the trick, even if it was a bit early. DH should be home Monday afternoon so once more for good luck I think!!

barbie1 · 22/03/2009 08:06

just watching the sad news about jade goody, it makes you think and puts things into perspective doesnt it Doctor yesterday asked when my last smear was and i panicked as i thought straight away about jade and wondered if my missing af could be down to that.....

Went back today and had an internal scan, did have a little giggle as the nurse put a condom on the probe thingy and i said good thinking! i dont want to get pregnant by that!

The internal took ages, so much longer than in the uk, in fact i was getting worried as the nurse kept looking like this she said there wasnt anything obvious going on but took loads of pictures and said the doctor will cal on tues.....i do hope there isnt anything wrong, i might need some hands to hold on tues

mollie hope the hangover isnt too bad, i did laugh at your facebook status....one bottle, two bottles and then another one no wonder the head hurts!

jools hey sexy lady i hope you did go upstairs and made the most of it!!! who cares about ttc sometimes its just good to have sex........

gingermumi good luck on the 2ww...so exciting! i cant wait to get back to all that.....roll on tues and some answers

This thread is nice isnt it, we have had lots of luck so far, long may it continue and that next mothers day we will be getting cards ourselves something to aim for....

VJay · 22/03/2009 13:11

Lol at you barbie and your condom scan I'm sure it took ages because she was being very thorough, which must be good. I'm will be holding your hand on Tuesday xx

How's your hangover mollie, make the most of it cos hopefully you won't be able to do that for much longer

Wow 2ww ginger it's so exciting, and jools you go for it girl, in your sexy hipsters, and have lots of fun

bluesatinsash · 22/03/2009 14:30

Jools - you go girl in your hipster jeans and lashing of EWCM .

barbie - lol at getting pg by internal scan thingy! You sound like you've had a v. thorough exam and you'll be on your 2ww before you know it .

ginger - sending a truck load of babydust your way

Mollie - hope your head feels better today, you can't beat a good night out to forget about tc for a wee while.

Hey Vjay - moved into the big pants yet?

barbie1 · 22/03/2009 14:35

Hi blue and vjay
barbie waves like mad so you can see me from dubai!!!

OP posts:
barbie1 · 22/03/2009 14:36

what i didnt tell you was that i was so petrified of the condom coming of that probe thingy as it was long and thin and it looks really baggy! i was worried it would come off and get lost 'up there'

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 22/03/2009 14:50

as if it would get lost 'up there' but yes it is very baggy looking!

barbie1 · 22/03/2009 14:53

i just didnt relish the thought of it slipping off and the lady having to get a metal instrument to get it out yuk! and all that jelly stuff, i swear i was sqelching as i walked out of reception

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 22/03/2009 14:58

Hope you didn't have your good pants on

barbie1 · 22/03/2009 15:02

i did! had to do a sort of part run, part waddle kind of move to the car....was worried that it might slip down my legs adn i had a dress on! ewwwww so gross. To make things worse i had a tummy scan too so there was jelly on that which cause my dress to stick to it and look like a hugh sweat patch

OP posts:
VJay · 22/03/2009 15:35

Hey blue yes I'm in my huge pants, been in them for a while, but believe me it's not all baby .
barbie you do make me chuckle, what we ladies have to go through hey, the DH's have noooo idea

gingermumi · 22/03/2009 17:05

barbie you sound like an absolute vision! If it helps, when i was ttc ds (it took nearly 2 years) i had lots of scans and tests and they found i had fibroids but by the time I got to see the consultant I had actually fallen pregnant! It was a bit scarey because when I phoned GP to see if i could get any results by phone i was told they had been referred to someone to check. I automatically thought omg they've found something awful but it wasn't it was because I was already pregnant. They had had to do the tests twice because they lost the first lot! Typical NHS! Someimes things happen when you least expect them.

Like you, also sad about Jade Goody, those poor little boys too. Does make you think and out things in perspective.

thanks for babydust and good wishes, fingers crossed. will prob do an early test middle of next week.

Gracie, have fun tomorrow hun - You too jools !

Big hello to everyone else

4everhopeful · 23/03/2009 12:58

Hi girls! Thanks for rallying round and cheering me up and getting me sooooo drunk on our virtual afternoon in the pub on friday! You are all so lovely for understanding and saying the right thing!

Curly def be great to meet up in London! You too Jools!
Congrats to Mollie on the promotion!
So pleased all is well Lionstar - started panicing for you too there!
Thanks Vjay for being sweet and understanding - felt bad talking about my bump envy, but know you understand and know I wish you every sticky happy and deserved thoughts for all you emmsys bumps!
Mermaid sweetheart - hope your heads truly out the bucket and you & barbie all ok after very crossed wires on fri! Sure after our drunken afternoon in the pub all is well?! Cant remember a thing! Must be the vodka!
Hello to Gracie You seem very chirpy - good to see!
Ginger I'm gonna do an early test end of this week so spreading the babydust and hoping we can cheer us all up with some exciting news soon eh girl?!
Blue and Barbie at your upcoming edds, at least you can hold each others hands, we will be holding your hands too.. Also pleased to hear you are getting thoroughly checked out now barbie must be such a relief, although getting PG by a scanner is a little extreme!

Glad to catch up with you all, trying to stay head up and remembering to smile again! Had a lovely weekend pottering round the house with DH finishing hol washing, one of greatest things about hol (apart from blue sky, sun, sea and sex! )is being off work! So back to it now! Hope all is well?!

Lotsa love to you all xxxxxxxxx

mermaidspurse · 23/03/2009 15:54

afternoon girls, you have all been busy bees, especially jools I hope See you have lost weight, we just don't see it.
4ever you are sounding much happier today honey, does that mean we are all on the 2WW then?
however I am a bit worried as I read over the weekend that we should all be having gourmet sex - ie - the kind of sex you have when you first meet the man of your dreams, blue birds singing, rose petals, etc etc. Apparantly super sonic sexed up sperm are produced and not the lazy 'lie back and think of England' kind.... not that that happens at mermaid HQ of course
Anyway back to do a bit more work, feels like Friday again already.

gingermumi · 23/03/2009 18:42

mermaid! 4ever am going to do a test soon 9next couple of days) will let know how it goes, good luck for yours too.

jools are you still in the bedroom shaking your thing? ha ha keep up the good work and before you know it it will be the 2ww for you too!

4ever the washig and putting away of all the hols stuff is the worse part, more so for you because its going to be ages until its warm enough to wear it all again, i had a headache too after the pub, didnt know you could drink so much

mermaid friends? ha ha im so sorry about all of that, must be my non exsistant hormones! i too read about the kind of sex you are ment to be having to fall pregnant, one mag even went as far to say having a one night stand as its more passionate i say head to ann summers or agent provocater for the same effect!

popped in to say good luck barbie in case you were already off to get your results but its later on? It sounds like they are going to cross every t and dot the i's for you. Thats good this has all dragged on a loooong time for you. Glad your mum is visiting too thats fab.
channel 4 had the journey of sperm on last night, it was a cross between the Lord of the Rings an Ariel advert and that Woody allen movie with the people sperm!
Anyway dont worry sweetie you will get to that 2ww I just know you will.

4everhopeful · 24/03/2009 08:30

Morning mermaid and barbie - my we're all up early today! Got in work at 8am to try and make some hours up! Wanted to say good luck to you for today at the docs barbie - glad your mums gonna be there to hold your hand - hope the airport drive wasnt too bad last night?

mermaid are you on the 2ww as well now? Its more a 1ww for me now and due to early testing kits might be the 2 day wait?!? I saw that great sperm race last night too! You simmed it up brilliantly ha ha! Gourmet sex eh?!? it is most of the time! Interesting about the leukocytes cos had just read an article about LIT causing miscarriage - one for us I think mermaid see this link LIT am gonna start investigating this, there is also a thread on MC forum about it... Anyone with unexplained recurrent mc should be aware of this! xxxx

4everhopeful · 24/03/2009 08:39

Re the immune attacking partners cells (leukocytes) and testing LAD for LIT also see this link www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/720967-incompatibility-with-dp-anyone-else
and this one as above yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/immunotherapy-prevent-miscarriage.html

You never know this could be the answer?!? xx

4everhopeful · 24/03/2009 09:04

Also see this link for the only doc that specialises in LIT link www.drpaularmstrong.co.uk/specialities.htm#miscarriage

I'm quite excited at the prospect this could be the cause! I just e-mailed my consultant to see if he fancies using us for research trials! If not will pursue the expensive private re-mortgage the house option!

VJay · 24/03/2009 09:49

Good morning ladies, I am so excited for those on the 2ww, keep us posted, are you all madly symptom spotting, all just trying to play it cool, like I tried and failed to do

barbie I was thinking this morning about posting a bump piccy, I've got a wedding coming up in a couple of weeks, so will try and get a nice photo taken of me then will post it. As for names, I want to wait until after the scan to start choosing, but my very excited dh keeps coming up with boys names, I have told him it could be a girl, but he's not having it! So far we have Harry or Archie for a boy, and I like Scarlett for a girl, but it's a secret so don't tell anyone

mermaidspurse · 24/03/2009 09:52

morning you very busy and informative person Yes I looked at that thread too - its fairly cutting edge isn't it? I was going to ask about your guinea pig status, hopefully the consultant gets back to you asap.
What are the chances though when you have managed a dc with your partner as I have...
Have they also mentioned IVF and making sure an egg is 'good to go' with you?
Its great to hear you all positive again.x
