Please don't be offended if you're not named, you're still welcome, I just have a rubbish memory. I can see a couple of you on November thread but there's a whole load of people not there. Just wondering if you wanted a little thread to keep in touch?

Headfairy - just replied to you on grapefruit thread. So sorry about your sad news. Was hoping a new thread might provide you with support from old friends.

And Sunnydale, I know you're wary of new threads, so though you might also like the company of old friends.

Wishing and Bubble having your weird long cycles and missing whole month's threads, thought this might be one for you too.

So what do you say? I'll start a list just in case:

Issy, ttc#1, cycle 14, ucl 28ish, cd 23/10dpo, mc Mar08, cp Sep08, IVF in April.

Hey everyone!

Issy thanks for explaining ivf.
good news about your follicles and I hope the egg collection goes smoothly.

This morning we all went to watch ds1 play football. I was so proud his team won both their matches. ds2 spent the entire morning running around the park but hasnt had a nap yet and is still going strong.

Im feeling really crap. like a cold or something and i have this huge coldsore. im hoping that im back to normal soon coz im nearing that 'special time'

How is everyone? having a good weekend?

HeadFairy · 25/04/2009 20:43

Hi everyone, just checking in as we're on holiday for a week from tomorrow. Well first of all DH is running the London Marathon and then we're getting on a plane to Italy. We must be mad (well he must be )

Bubble I hope you feel better soon. Congratulational high fives for your ds... you must be really proud. How lovely! Good luck with your "Special time" next week, have fun

Issy Great news about the follicles, I am also an IVF ignoramus but it sounds very promising. Good luck with the EC and ET next week.

Take care everyone else, have a lovely week. xx

JumpingJellyfish · 26/04/2009 13:33

headfairy I am most impressed at your DH! Hope it all goes well today and have a lovely, lovely holiday (and not too much knicker-checking!)

issy that's brilliant news about your follicles- and thank you for providing the low-down on the IVF process as I'm completely (blissfully) ignorant of it all. Like Head said, good luck for this week

bubble how are you feeling today? hope you're feeling a lot better. There are still soooo many bugs going around over here, it's as if it's still midwinter DD's consultant told us his ward is full when usually at this time of year it's eased off a lot. And you should indeed be proud of your DS1- way to go!

Well not much news here... I am firmly focussed on the "what will be will be" sentiment and trying not to stress about the test. Instead we're making plans for the house move as hoping to get keys for our new house on Tuesday! Other than that I have had a little bit of spotting this morn I am not overly stressed though as it was "old" blood, and I had this happen with DD's pregnancy, so hoping it's innocent... And could be related to having recently started the aspirin too.

How is everyone else? xxx

Issy42 · 26/04/2009 20:31

Bubble - Well done to your DS1. Hope the cold gets better soon and you can enjoy your 'special time'.

Head - Have a lovely holiday in Italy and so impressed by your DH.

JJF - Good luck with the house move on Tuesday. Really hope the spotting has stopped but get yourself checked out just in case.

I'm getting nervous about tomorrow now.

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 26/04/2009 21:20

Hey All and Issy - deep breaths for you for tomorrow . What time is your appointment? Hope your eggs behave and slip down the tube without any pushing and shoving. I'll be thinking about you x

Head - I'm v. about you going to Italy - have a fab time and take lots of Radox for your DH's muscles - he will need some after 1 x marathon and 1 x flight .

Go bubble's DS1 - you must have had your 'proud mummy' face on . Get some vit. c tablets down you ahead of your 'special time' they always sort me out if I'm run down.

Hi jumping - I've had brown discharge too, just a tiny amount but with my knicker or rather pad checking obsession enough for me to freak out about. I had bright red bleeding with DS twice and brown bleeding with two mc so not feeling too positive today but I have no control over it and it may or may not be cause for concern. I'm seeing Doc on Wed. for my scheduled acup. sesh so will talk it all through then but think I'll ask for 6 week scan as 2 x mc were dated @ 6 weeks. ho hum.

x

Issy42 · 26/04/2009 21:29

Blue - fingers crossed that your spotting is just baby burrowing in. Thinking of you. My appointment is at 10am.

OP posts:
Bubblebell1 · 27/04/2009 08:14

Morning everyone!

HF have a lovely holiday

Jumping and Blue, im sure that the spotting is normal. Try hard not to worry. i know its hard so Im sending loads of sticky baby dust to you both.

Issy good luck for today. I shall be thinking of you at 10am

well cd15 today, no positive on the opks yet. I have a scan this afternoon. I hope they can see things working correctly and that nothing is wrong.

Im a little confused as my gp insists that you ovulate 14 days before af and when i tried to tell him i think my lf is either 10 or 12 days its like he doesnt understand. the other gp at the practice said that if your cycles are shorter than 3 wks or longer than 5 then your not fertile!!! that cant be true??

Feeling much better today, thanks

Hello to everyone else

irishmumwannabe · 27/04/2009 11:50

Hi Everyone

Head so at your hols - mustn't complain though I am heading off in 6 weeks to korea. [wahay emoticon]

Jumping adn Blue hope everything is going well and teh knicker checking isn't too frequent.

Issy hope the eggs came out easily for you - let us know how you got one!

Bubble think you passed that coldsore on to me - not really but had a facial on Saturday and my skin has erupted since.

I've had a bad day so far - had a row with one of the guys I work with. We are being relocated and as is the case nowadays there is very little money for compensation for the disruption.
We are getting travel for a year, they are going to give us ?50 on a card for the canteen (it?s a cashless environment and you have to pay using these cards that you top up at a machine), giving us flexitime, 2 days holidays and a ?20 tram card. Now I thought that was pretty cool ? and better than nothing. One of the lads here was moaning that it was rubbish so I said it was better than nothing and he then said ?No it?s still nothing?. I got wound up ? and told him that he?d be hard pressed to find a company who would do better at the mo... He was one of the oens moaning a few months ago that we were getting nothing - so some people are never happy
Now onto my cycle if I am having a "normal" cycle I will have a visitor on Thursday so I'll let you know if she shows up!

Bubblebell1 · 27/04/2009 13:20

irish sorry if ive passed on the lurgy. I did beauty therapy at college and loved getting the free facials! Fingers crossed you dont get af as a visitor but a BFP instead

Ive just booked tickets to see Elvis at the O2 in Feb 2010. Its his original backing singers and band with him projected onto the stage. Im sooo excited

Bubblebell1 · 27/04/2009 20:34

Issy how did the egg collection go?

well i had my scan today. They said my ovaries look normal. they measured the lining of the womb etc and said the results would be back in a few weeks. She left a pic of both ovaries on the screen and i asked if they showed any follicles. (its cd15 of a 28 day cycle) She said that she couldnt see any dominant follicles but pointed at something and said that could be a collapsed follicle??

Thing is i havent had a +ive opk yet. Ive had lots of other signs, Ovulation pain, ewcm and my cervix is hso. I splashed out on a cb digi ov kit this month and am annoyed to think it hasnt detected a surge if ive ovd.

can you normally see a collapsed follicle on a scan?

bluesatinsash · 27/04/2009 21:27

Just wanted to check in and ask how Issy's day went? Been thinking about you and hope it all went well.

Hey Bubble - good news that everything looks OK. I'm not really up on follicles etc. but if you had ov pains and lots of EWCM then you never know . re: luteal phase, I've also read that AF is ALWAYS due 14 days after ovulation and that shorter spell can signal trouble as it doesn't give the body enought time to increase progesterone levels to help bean stick but then lots of women have short cycles so it must work for them .

Irish - fingers crossed TEW stays away...

Sunnydale · 27/04/2009 21:45

Hello all,
First of all, huge congrats to you, Headfairy, and wow wow wow for your impressive ability to get pg so fast, which is surely something to be thankful for. Completely get why you don't want to get too excited yet, though. Stay upbeat and I'm keeping all things crossed for you, as I'm sure we all are. Here's wishing you a wonderful pregnancy. Talking of wishing, how are you, Wishing? Hope everything is good with you, am thinking of you.
Issy, I can but echo everyone else - you are a courageous lady. I know less than zero about IVF but your handy potted guide sure sounds scary. A friend of a friend is on the 2ww after her second cycle of IVF, and she says all she wants to do is lie on the bed with her legs in the air! I hope you don't mind me asking, but are you 42? Only coz you're Issy42, I mean, not coz I was jumping to any other conclusions.
Wasabi, are you a copywriter for advertising agencies, or are there other types? Advertising fascinates me. Is it true that one of the most successful slogans ever is "Naughty But Nice", as penned by Salman Rushdie? I think it was for cream cakes in the eighties. Do you do that sort of thing? That must be way cool, man (Sunnydale regresses into teenager mode)
Nothing whatsoever to report from my end. Head, lol at your Volvo tip but sadly, I can't even drive. So that's me well and truly f*d, then!

Sunnydale · 27/04/2009 21:56

Sorry, just wanted also to say to Bubblebell that as far as I know, any luteal phase between 10 and 12 days is considered "normal". Like you I read somewhere that AF always happened 14 days after ov, but apparently that's not true. I always thought I ov'd on day 14 until I bought a Clearblue Fertility Monitor... for the past 3 cycles it has shown I ov on day 19 / 20. So I've been BD'ing at the wrong time, too early. No wonder I'm not PG. Mind you, the Clearblue could be wrong too I suppose. I have no other signs to go on as I can't temp, am too squeamish to fiddle with my cervix and am too ancient / stressed to get much ewcm these days. Like I said, I'm f**d!

girlwithacurl · 28/04/2009 09:34

Hi all, sorry I have been silent for a few days... AF got me on Sat, so back to the drawing board...

Issy - good luck!!
bubble your signs sound positive, did yuo BD when you had them... it is annoying about the OPK - but your other signs should all point to Ov... fingers crossed for you!
Head - how is the knicker checking??
Irish hope AF stays away!!
sunny - Hello!!

Bubblebell1 · 28/04/2009 11:02

Thanks Girls!

I think im that kinda person that can find anything to worry about and always has an endless list of questions

i had some pains down below that i assumed were bladder related seeing as i had drank gallons of water for the scan. when i had the internal scan she pressed the probe into something and it hurt. i asked if it was my bladder. thinking maybe coz it was full? she said no thats your ovary, so those pains that i had were ov pains not my bladder?? i must of been getting it wrong up until now . Ive BDed as much as possible so will just have to wait and see now. The 2ww commences!

Girl im sorry that AF got you. she is a right bitch.

wasabipeanut · 28/04/2009 14:45

Blimey its been busy on here since I last looked. Apologies in advance if I forget anyone - I am speed posting again as ds is on sleep strike. We've had a somewhat trying morning as he decided to chuck my new and treasured iphone out of his window this morning. It was my fault for forgetting I'd put it on his windowsill for a second but even so. I wasn't overly impressed. It was one of those "put him in his cot and walk away for 5 minutes" moments.

But I digress.

Girl sorry AF got you. She got me too. I had a huge drop in temperature yesterday morning and when I went to the loo I had come on. So much for a gentle tapering down - mine plummetted overnight it seems. We need to both think positive for this month. I have informed dh of our schedule(!) and told him to make sure his swimmers are fit and raring to go!
I want my BFP this month. I've had enough of this now.

I can also relate to your feelings on everyone around seeming to be announcing their happy event. At ds's Tumbletots class this morning half the mums seemed to be up the stick and there were a couple of new borns in slings as their toddler brothers and sisters were lead around by a grandparent or something. All very lovely in a "Circle of Life" sort of way but can sometimes have the effect of making you want to stick you head in the oven.

Sunny advertising copywriting would indeed be very cool but sadly thats not what I do. I'm a sort of corporate copywriter. I do brochures, websites, marketing bumf, that sort of thing. I do actually really enjoy work when I have some! Its looking like a quiet week!

Jumping I'm so happy that things are looking good so far (and hope spotting has now stopped). There must be so such stress and so many questions in your head. Not so long until 12 or so weeks. I wish you the very, very best.

Blue I hope any spotting has long since stopped and that all is well. Its difficult not to freak about stuff like that when you have mc's behind you but you have to keep tellign yourself that the odds of a positive outcome are overwhelmingly in your favour.

Head I know your off on hols now but thanks for the baby dust. I could do with a bit more if you happen to be passing by. Happy holidays - I'm sure you are having a fab time. I love Italy so much.

Bubble Hope you have had some answers re luteal phases and collapsed follicles. It does seem that GP's, being by definition generalised, are often less knowledgable on reproductive health than their patients.

Issy any news?

Issy42 · 28/04/2009 19:47

Hi girls. Thank-you for all your kind thoughts. Sorry I've been silent and apologies also for lack of personals. Still feeling a little delicate so can't stay on too long.

The website of my clinic states the following: 80% of follicles will contain an egg; 80% of eggs collected will be mature; 60-70% of the mature eggs will fertilise; 90-95% of the fertilised eggs will cleave and form embryos. I had 19 follicles so was hoping for 15 eggs, but only got 12. Only 8 of those were mature, but thankfully all 8 fertilised. The clinic have recommended that I take them to blastocyst - that is transfer one on day 5, which gives a much higher chance of pregnancy than putting two back tomorrow, but the risk is there could be nothing to put back by then, so I have an anxious wait until Saturday to pray that my little embies make it that far. I get an update on Thursday though. Fingers crossed.

I will catch up later in the week as my friend who came up for EC leaves tomorrow, up to now I've been posting on one thread at a time so I don't neglect her too much.

OP posts:
Issy42 · 28/04/2009 19:54

PS: Bubble - a normal LP can be from 10 to 16 days. A collapsed follicle means you've very recently ovulated.

Sunny - I'm 37. The fertility friends charting website added the 42 and I stuck with it. I'm not called Issy either .

I'll catch up with everyone else in the next day or two.

OP posts:
irishmumwannabe · 29/04/2009 11:53

Issy ? OMG 8 little embryos ? I have no clue what a blastocyst is (note to self: look up online) but I really hope it works for you and that you get your ?sticky-- bean. I?m thinking of you and really hope you get good news tomorrow and Saturday.

Wasabi and girl sorry AF got you. It?s such a letdown isn?t it when you?ve spent 2 weeks wishing time away only to have that at the end. LOL @ your DH?s swimmers in the gym wasabi.

Hello to blue and Jumping. Hope everything is going ok for you both and you are keeping well.
Just reread some earlier threads blue and yes I did mean the 9th of May (although if things go right this month it may be April 2010 before AF comes a-knocking again)

Bubble I think your signs are probably quite good for OV and the collapsed follicle sounds like it?s good news. Hope you had loads of bd and the 2ww flies in for you!

I think this month I have been very chilled ? did BD around the right times and everything so you?d never know. This time around have absolutely no symptoms except this morning had a really sharp pain in my lower abdomen so not sure that?s good. It took my breath away for a few minutes. Anyway as I said we?ll know by tomorrow if I am back on my regular cycle (if not pg) and if not, I will hold off until day 34 for any testing. God that sounds like a long time to go.

Next month if I don?t get BFP this month will be buying all manner of EBay cheapies for POAS purposes ? am on diet (although am not overweight am hovering very near so will try and get under) and will do more exercise. It?s much nicer in the evenings anyway. Oh and bought pink grapefruit juice so will drink that by the bucket!

Hello to everyone else, Sunny, Headfairy (hope you are having nice holidays), and anyone else I might have missed.
Just thinking how mice it is to have this thread with no expectations on you it?s just nice to have likeminded people to chat to about it without the whole I have to have a baby by x month.

irishmumwannabe · 29/04/2009 14:00

nice - I meant nice!

bluesatinsash · 29/04/2009 17:12

oh Issy - so glad your EC went well and you have eight embies . May Saturday be here before you know it. Fingers crossed big big time. Your the same age as me you know although I'm 38 next month (how did that happen ).

Hey everyone else, just a quickie as I've sneaked on at work as I'm about to leave.

wasabi - can relate to toddler meltdowns and sleep strikes, my DS has graduated to running off into another room and slamming door in diva like strop - bless him! sorry TEW came and get that militery operation set for this month.

Irish - hope TEW stays away...

Hi Sunny - you could go to a Volvo garage, pretend your looking and sit in the seat to capture the fertility powers?

Better dash, TTFN.

p.s. Sif - we miss you

Issy42 · 30/04/2009 18:03

Jumping and Blue - how are you doing? I hope the spotting has gone away for you both.
Bubble - fingers crossed for you on the 2ww.
Irish - Korea sounds exciting. Is that a holiday or work? Hope your visitor stays away. A blastocyst is what an embryo develops into so a day 2/3 transfer is an embryo transfer, but a day 5 transfer is a blastocyst one.
Blue - I'm only 3 months behind you. Do your DS's tantrums make you laugh?
Sunny - Sorry I made IVF sound scary. It's not that bad. This week is the worst as the egg collection makes you a bit sore and uncomfortable. Fingers crossed that this is your month.
Girl and Wasabi - sorry AF got you both. Lol at the sperm fitness regime though.
Head - Hope you're having a fabulous time in Italy.

Thanks everyone for all the good wishes for my eggs. Had such a nerve-wracking morning waiting for the call to let me know if any of them had become embies, but all 8 cleaved. 4 are doing really well, they are good or average and 6 to 8 cell as expected by the embryologist, 1 is going a little too fast and 3 a bit slow, but none are ruled out at this stage. Am so relieved, but have to keep my feet on the ground as there is still a chance that they won't make it until Saturday. Keep finding myself looking in the direction of the hospital and willing them to be OK.

OP posts:
Bubblebell1 · 01/05/2009 08:07

Issy thats good news about the embys. i too will wish them ok for tomorrow

Irish i hope af stays away and you get a BFP

How is everyone?

Feeling abit confused atm. After the sonographer said she could see a collapsed follicle i am yet to see a sustained thermal shift. My temp dipped on day 15 (day of scan) and spiked on day 16. Then went down a degree and has stayed there at the same temp for 3 days on the trot. I dont know what to think. Im worried that im not ovulating now and that pcos has been ruled out that it could be something else
I have a day 21 test tomorrow so i guess i will know if i ovd later next week.

sorry to ramble.

hope you all have a good weekend.

girlwithacurl · 01/05/2009 09:45

oh bubble how confusing, why can't it be simple and your pee turns blue when you ov and turquoise when your pg... that way we could be sure without all this poas and temping etc. Hope you get some answers soon!

issy good luck for tomorrow, everything is still crossed

I have follow appoint with Dr on Tuesday to discuss blood test results, last cycle was confusing as my LP seemed to be 3 days longer than usual and i didnt think they could change, also another 40 day cycle!! arrgg

irishmumwannabe · 01/05/2009 09:53

Morning everyone

Issy that's deadly news about the little embies - I'm sending all my good wishes to you and them. Good luck for tomorrow. I looked up the blastocyst the other day after beign on here.

My friend is teaching English in Korea and I said we'd go visit her when she first went out over a year ago so now fulfilling that promise. Can't wait it'll be brilliant.

Bubble I'm sending you positive vibes - hopefully it's just an irregularity in your temps hopefully the Day 21 test will set your mind at ease.

Jumping not too long to go for your 12 weeks scan - how are you feeling these days? How's the thesis going?

Blue hope your little bean is hanging in there.

Girl and Wasabi I've joined your ranks I'm afraid {sad} TEW got me last nigth after spotting yesterday (I have never had spotting in my life before - v. weird). But at least I ma back to my 25 day cycle. [silver lining emoticon]

I've decided to start temping, am ordering OPKs from EBay as I type and DH has been told to stop smoking and to cut down on his booze (God bless him) I refuse to not have a BFP next time around!

Anyway that's my bit of news - going to a rugby match tomorrow can't wait. Love the fact that it's a bank holiday weekend as well. Talk to you all later - have a good one.
