Here we go again . Let the good news flow....

OP posts:
HerNameWasSanta · 18/12/2008 11:27

Thanks Ei, cross posts. Sorry to hear about your morning, I hope your day improves from now on. You're very restrained waiting til the weekend, I'm very surprised impressed!

MerryCRICRIstmas · 18/12/2008 11:29

Kate So the French priest was right I am so so pleased for you, what fantastic news! In time for Christmas too! How do you feel?
Ei Fingers crossed for you

MerryCRICRIstmas · 18/12/2008 11:33

X-posts! Glad you've contacted the consultant and naturopathic centre already, no harm in getting the ball rolling and it will help if you feel you're doing something to support the pg.
BTW I knew Elise was a girl from the start too

mibbes · 18/12/2008 11:34

Ahhh bless kate what a lovely story, I love hearing all the details ! And according to Zita West the later the implantation the better chance of sticking and I had my imp on 9/10 dpo so I'm super-hopeful that you are right about 36 weeks time.... And yes you are as mad a box of frogs knowing it is a girl, having said that I knew my bean was a boy from near the start too ! Och I'm just so happy for you hun xx

mibbes · 18/12/2008 11:37

Yes he is a very gifted little boy . BFing going well, the latch is painful but it gets better as long as he is on right . Nips are still toughening up though so are pretty tender and painful, worth it though as I feel so much better being able to feed him myself and the added bonus is that due to the rocky start we had, he takes a bottle too so can leave him with the ILs tomorrow while I nip out for a team lunch with my work buddies

MollieandtheIvy · 18/12/2008 12:16

FAN BLOODY TASTIC NEWS CONGRATULATIONS KATE (oh and DH too [fblush) I am so so so pleased I want to hug you, get on a train now!!!!!!!!!!

By the way as of yesterday work are now tracking internet access so can't go on MN in the day but after Sparkly's text I just had too!!!! Who cares if I get sacked it was worth it!

HerNameWasSanta · 18/12/2008 12:46

"nips are still toughening up" aaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhhhhh!!!

Never ceases to amaze me what can constitute good news in this mad crazy world we're all in!

Thanks for the Zita West tip, makes me feel a lot better. Am not going to google anything or look in any books in the interest of preserving the little sanity I have left, so I will just go with that from now on!

Thanks Cricri, I hadn't thought about that, you're quite right though, Father Gerald strikes again...

We have 13 here on christmas day and 14 on boxing day... what do you think my chances are of slipping under the alcohol radar? Probably pretty good so far as DH's family and my dad are concerned, unlikely with my sister and ZERO chance with my mother... Hopefully there will be so many people no one will notice. Will just have to try to sit up the other end of the table. I think a table plan might be called for!

What do we think about highlighting our hair during pregnancy....?

BellaHarry · 18/12/2008 13:15

Loving it in here this avo, came on really dpepressed and feel positively lifted now (thought I'd have to go back on the nasty anti Ds!!)

fruity good point we do have plenty of room for babe, feel bad now, I'm being selfish I know. Any ideas when we can meet up yet? xx

Kate WOW!!!! Big Fat Congrats on the BFP!!! I used a cheapie Tesco too, maybe they bring luck, we should tell everyone to stock up!!? I've decided to only use semi permenant on my hair whilst pg just incase but there's not that much literature on it really. Any way fab news!!! whens EDD then? Good luck I hope it all works out for you both! P.S DH is getting a plasterer quote and boxing up his crap! Woohoo! Progress. What a great day!

HeyThereSantasGirl · 18/12/2008 13:20

Yippppeeeee yippppeeeee yippppeeeee for you Kate..

So bloody amazingly happy for you and DH. Just wrap yourself in cotton wool and try not to worry too much.

Am walking around with rather large grin on face. Wonderful news to round the year off with.

Highlighting hair is fine as the bleach doesn't actually touch the scalp and therefore can't be absorbed. It's dying that (alledgedly) is worse. Although given that I'm rather grey aleady, there's no way I'm giving up me dye job. I'd look like a carzy lady if I didn't!!!

HeyThereSantasGirl · 18/12/2008 13:21

Ha. Just seen my type..... 'carzy lady'. Isn't 'carzy' slang for toilet? I think that says it all .

HerNameWasSanta · 18/12/2008 13:54

Thanks for the hair dye tips, it's amazing the things we find to worry about. So far consultant has said if it's highlights rather than full on dye job then fine, but the naturopathic centre have said absolutely not... What I was expecting really. I'm with you Georgie, I can't just go cold turkey for 8 months, 2 tone hair may be a look favoured by many of my clients, but it CAN'T happen here... Will just have to work out some sort of middle ground... No idea what though! Appointment is 5pm tomorrow...

Mollie I'm not sure how I managed to miss your post before, but somehow I did. Thank you Hope you're doing ok today.

Bella I guess I was going to have to take the plunge at some point, so I may as well stay there. You've put me at the top though and missed Mollie off so I'll re-do it in a second I'm not working out my EDD yet, I don't need to know. Although I have a fair idea anyway as I'm about a month ahead of where I was with Thomas. His EDD was 26th September so this one must be the end of August. My 30th birthday is on 21st August - what a present that would be!

My consultant called earlier He said I had made his week (although he did say he was having a particularly terrible week!) I'm booked in for a scan on 12th Jan which should be around 7 weeks. He wants to wait til 12.5 to do the nuchal as he said you can see so much more then compared to 11 weeks, but he's happy for me to have a scan (or 2 ) between 7 and 12.5 to keep my going During the previous 2 pregnancies I've had brown spotting at about 6 weeks, if it happens this time I know it will completely freak me out, but luckily he said he's working over christmas and new year and he said I can call if I'm worried about anything (dangerous words!! )

Georgie hello Carzy lady Thanks for your text xx

Just realied that out of the 12 regular posters on this thread 9 of us have had mc's, and at least 6 of us have had more than one Must be about time for some healthy sticky beans then!

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 18/12/2008 14:20

Kate My lovely, I'm sooooo over the moon for you! What an amazing early Christmas present for you and DH - A little girl you think? Oooh, perhaps we should get our resident psychic Ei to look into her crystal ball FWIW, I always knew, deep down, I was having a boy. Much as I tried to kid myself I would have a little girl - I still have the cute Gap tights and pink vests for next time! I'm actually very very pleased I'm having another boy, my little girl will have two big brothers to look out for her
About hair dye, I was quite precious during my 1st pregnancy and avoided everything I should. This time I've practically ignored everything, even had a bit of Brie and Stilton on my salad last night and drink coffee everyday. Hey I even had a 3-days-out-of-date prawn cocktail not long ago I think if I'd had previous MC's I'd be a bit more careful though.
If I wanted to I would dye my hair although wouldn't have done with DS.
Just do whatever you feel comfortable with

Bella Can we do next week? I can't remember what day you said you were having your niece? I'm free anytime Mon-Weds, I'll be working as usual so will have a load of kiddies with me
Great news DH is moving his crappola out to make way for baby. Is it finally sinking in then for him? I feel a bit to blame as I warned you both it would take ages to get a BFP [mwahahahahaha] Ah well, tell him better sooner rather than later! At least you won't be tearing your hair out ttc! haha. If he's as sweet with the baby as he is with thse cats then he will be a marvellous Daddy!

Georgie Are you free anytime between now and Christmas? There won't be any groups on next week so I'll be stuck for something to do with the troops and I'll get cabin fever if I have to stay at home all day.

So, no pressure Sparkly Ei and Piper then eh? And you Mollie for the new year! I can't believe there are only 4 left now!

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 18/12/2008 14:23

Oh god, I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS! to you Kate [duh]

HeyThereSantasGirl · 18/12/2008 14:40

Hi Fruity. Would have loved to have met up, but we're choka-block from 22nd thru 29th. But, Libs and I are free on 2nd Jan if that's any good for you? Would be lovely to see you and DS. Don't mind if you've got a truck full of kids with you. Just be nice to catch up and admire your bump. I just look like I've eaten too many pies at the moment .

WhenFRUITYgotstuckupthechimney · 18/12/2008 14:50

I don't think I have any plans for the 2nd. Not even sure I have any children on that day. Might have the utterly scrummy Max though Shall we pencil it in until I speak to DP?

mibbes · 18/12/2008 14:59

Kate I remember reading somwhere that highlights are best avoided until 2nd trimester so I had to cancel an appt and wait a few extra weeks.

HeyThereSantasGirl · 18/12/2008 18:06

Fruity You are in the diary love. Libs going to be very chuffed to see your DS again!

hohoholaydee · 18/12/2008 19:11

Sorry can't catch up on all the posts at the moment as too excited and had to post for Kate

I have been grinning about this all day!! (Look too excited to even do festive grins!) Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier but work went a bit mad but have been thinking of some tips for you that have helped me.

Try and stay positive. I know it's a cliche but if you can but when those negative thoughts creep try and scare them away. Remember your consultant is a very clever man and has said there is no reason you can't have a successful pg - he has done some tests and everything was fine. So the chances are you have just been INCREDIABLY unlucky, hard to accept I know, but that means you have no reason not to think positively about the outcome of this pregnancy. Being negative won't protect you if things do go wrong so don't waste energy on negative thoughts.

OR

Hide under your duvet until at least July!

Someone wise person said to me when I got pg (I think her name was Kate) treasure your little one for every day it is with you because every day is vital to it.

Oh and have your hair done - I did and it was fine - Lesley Regan said so and remember your nacropathic centre said you didn't have a great chance of getting pg yet! Go with the consultant. I read what Georgie said which is that if it's not full colour you're fine.

Will post for everyone else later and to update life here but DP is dishing up my dinner so is about to wrestle the computer from me.

MollieandtheIvy · 18/12/2008 20:14

Kate Has it sunk in yet???

hohoholaydee · 18/12/2008 20:21

Where has everybody gone? Sorry for the awful english in last post - obviously done in hurry - hope you can all made sense of it.

Saw the baby kick today for the first time, in fact it has been very active today. It is clearly excited about Kate's news and also that it's future playmate was born yesterday. My BF had her little boy last night, all well, born 11 days early and she was induced. They thought she had some dangerous condition that I can't remember the name of but you get really itchy hands and soles of feet. Drs Kate and Ei will probabaly know all about it! Going to have cuddles on Monday - can't wait!

Bella Try not to stress - you'll get it all done. I'm nearly 24 weeks and the following are currently in the baby's room - microwave we no longer want, upturned divan bed we no longer want, chair and small desk for the dining room (which needs decorating BEFORE they go back in) crib, which cat has taken to sleeping under, coat stand (although some coats on floor) and a box of Paxo. The walls are bright yellow and the carpet is royal blue - yuk! I told you all that to make you feel better and actually I have just stressed myself out! And if you really want to panic - talk to Georgie - she only got walls last week!! How is the building going Georgie or am I not allowed to mention. Hope you are not being too busy before Christmas - take it easy love.

Fruity How is DP now back from Spain - is he behaving now?

Sparkly Where are you? Are you sulking cos I havent done the photos - DP is on the case I promise, or are you school/christmased out

Mollie DP's parents are near Wolverhampton and Newport nr Telford - not totally on your doorstep but if I travel 3.5 hours to see people I don't want too another hourish to see someone I like is nothing!

Ei You are next lady!! Fingers crossed for your testing.

Kate Forgot to mention Lola is on our list for girls names - hope she will be honoured if we do go it. Although it turns out DP likes slightly weird names so big rows could be on the horizon.

Hello to everyone else
