Here we are on another new thread! Let's hope it's a lucky one

Aww Glask, y'know there are good things about having a late first scan, firstly, you get really good pics of the baby. Secondly, it isn't as long between the scans. And thirdly, you don't have to drink quite so much water before hand.

Besdies 20 days will go really quickly, you'll see, it won't be long till you're saying "Oh 124 week scan tomorrow"!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/10/2008 15:31

do you think they'd be able to see the sex at 14+2?? i've seen on a pregnancy site (were i see what's happening inside each week) that at 12 weeks it says 'in only a couple of weeks an ultrasound could determine the sex for you'.... you think 14 weeks will be far enough???

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/10/2008 15:34

It depends, if the baby happened to be in the perfect position for sexing, and if the sonographer felt like telling you, then yes, you could find out the sex. Don't get too excited though, my sonographer wouldn't even look at 13+4 (I think it was 4, might have been 6... can't remember!)

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/10/2008 15:37

well there's no harm in asking is there!! i wont get too exited but could be an added plus to waiting an extra couple of weeks than expected!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/10/2008 15:40

i'm 99% certain its a blue flavour anyway... so only really wanting them to confirm it for me!!... they did with the other 2 no probs, but i am almost certain that they were at the 20 week scans... DS might have been a bit earlier as i remember they 'double checked' at a later scan... dont think i had any scans after 20wks with either!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 02/10/2008 15:53

I am finally feeling more human now thanks for asking Nat. Seem to have lost the MS finally, hope it stays away. Just have congestion, headaches and heartburn now . Still anythings better than MS. Went to the gp yesterday about the headaches and he was very nice but of course completely useless, at least I got to hear baby on the doppler again!

Ses - am 17+5 today so things are moving along. Got my 20wk scan on the 17th and am looking forward to it. No idea whether I want to find out the sex though, I really can't decide.

Glask - oo good luck with your scan. No idea whether they will look at sex for you. I'm sure they could tell if baby is in the right position but whether they will want to risk it is another matter.

Heebeejeebee · 02/10/2008 16:00

Diege - I don't get many symptoms other than CM. If i'm looking for it, I can usually rustle up a pain in one side, otherwise I depend heavily on my cb monitor!

NJ - leather is easy to keep clean - we use either a damp cloth or baby wipes, so if when I manage to get myself pregnant I should at least have plenty of them hanging around!

Ses - hope you're installed in your new house now. I have to say I hated the unpacking more than the packing..

Glask - I remember that 20 days is a lifetime when your pregnant. Hope they can see!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/10/2008 16:02

playing- i missed you on the last page.... i wont be buying anything for the right sex until after the 20wk scan, but it'd be nice to know if they can tell whats going on inside!!

glad you're starting to feel better, no MS is good, but i know how bad heartburn can be, and headaches are awful even without being pregnant!!- but if it makes it any better for you- i'm already suffering from heartburn like mad!! aswell as still having pretty bad MS most days!! I'm sucking renne (sp?) peppermint tablets to help it. Did have the chews for DD but can't find them in my local chemist and dont like gaviscon!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 02/10/2008 16:30

haha!! i said i wouldn't be buying much till after my scan- i just won a cot mobile on ebay!!! here it is

Diege · 02/10/2008 18:36

Great bargain Glask . We are also huge lumpyn fans in this house!
Hi Playing - so glad ms seems to be abating .
Hi LB! Can't believe how quickly your pregnancy is going. Will you be finding out the flavour at your 20 week scan?
Right, that's all from me, early night I think. Speak tomorrow x

lardybump · 02/10/2008 18:40

No we wont I dont want to know..... Night diege....

LaTourEiffel · 02/10/2008 19:14

Evening all - I only seem to get on during the evening at the moment as I'm just sooo busy at work!

Very exciting! DS' passport arrived today! Hurrah! We're all going on a ...autumn holiday! Yay!

Hi Playing, good to hear from you, glad things are going OK with you. LB, DD sounds very cute!

NJ, glad you got the message across about your details, they probably wouldn't apologise too profusely just in case anything does go wrong and you try to recover any losses from them - if they keep their distance its easier to argue with you in the future - bit cynical perhaps. As you say, you'll need to keep a close eye on your account. It might also be worth checking with your card provider and getting a new card though, if anyone has got the details and it gets investigated, they'll find out that you knew your details were potentially in the public domain which might negate any protection you would otherwise get from your card provider. PITA but just thought I'd mention it.

I should have been 14 weeks this week .

lardybump · 02/10/2008 19:48

LaTour I am so sorry!!!

I think I know who you are now!! Where are you going on holiday??

lardybump · 02/10/2008 20:02

I went back to Leeds Castle today (the joys of having a yearly pass, wonder when the novelty will wear off?) with dd and we fed the ducks and had a picnic etc. I did a lot of walking though and now feel like someone is kicking me up the bum with boots on......

LaTourEiffel · 02/10/2008 20:59

LB...sorry, you can rely on me to be mumpy and moany...just feeling a bit down during AF. Its been quite a painful one too .

We're off to Portugal for a week, kind of nervous about taking DS but also not, IYKWIM. I am very excited about it all though and know that the holiday and the running are what's keeping me going at the moment. And DS and DH of course.

My friends used to live near Leeds Castle, though they are now in deeper Kent. I've never been there but have heard its very lovely. Sorry for your bottom being sore! You'll have to get out more often, it will be great for labour .

How are things with you at the moment?

LaTourEiffel · 02/10/2008 22:15

I have some err slightly exciting news , well it is to me...

I'm very allergic to most raw fruit and veg and had a bit of a dizzy moment whilst in the canteen at work today...

They've started selling little pots of natural yoghurt, honey and fruit, so I bought one. Completely forgetting about my allergy . However, I didn't have a bad reaction at all.

When I eat home made coleslaw I don't react to the carrot in it, but if I eat a 'naked' raw carrot my lips and mouth swell and sometimes blister. Normally its the same for both apples and pears (amongst many other fruit and veg) but this yoghurt pot contained both and I was fine. A kiwi fruit causes the same with an added bonus of a bad asthma attack .

So, I can only deduce that the fruit being coated in the yoghurt made it manageable for me in the same way that carrot in coleslaw seems to be OK too.

I ate fresh apple today without reacting for the first time in over ten years .

Like I said, I was excited....

Anyway, best off to bed, DH is feeling poorly and went to bed an hour ago, very unlike him .

Diege · 03/10/2008 06:46

Morning! An early one for me as dh away so have the ordeal joy of getting all three to school and back on foot in pouring rain . DD3 up, will wake others at 7.
Latour - I can see why you're excited ; is it possible you might becoming desensitised to your allergens? I'm sure it would make life easier for you .
dd is demanding more pineapple juice (it's apple ) so back later.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/10/2008 08:27

Morning

Have had panic stations all night. After that hoohah with my card details yesterday, had a message left on my mobile from HSBC (my bank) fraud protection to ring them urgently, they left a number, but I know HSBC have had loads of problems with spoof emails and phone calls recently so didn't want to ring the number they left incase it was dodgy, so had to wait till 8am this morning to ring through to the normal customer services so they could put me through to fraud protection. Had all sorts going through my mind, checked my internet banking but I know cc transactions don't show up on there for a few days, so knew if anything had gone on I wouldn't see it anyway. Finally 8am rolls round and all it was was for them to double check that all the spending I'd been doing (mainly the big MC order) was actually me... bastards! LOL I notice they didn't ring to see if the payment I made from my bank account to my cc to cover the spending was me as well! I was thinking all sorts all night, barely slept, keeping DH awake with my tossing and turning....

They should know by my history that anything I put on the cc is covered by a payment from my bank account, if I buy things online I always use the cc incase anything goes wrong because you have protection with a cc than a switch card, so I just transfer the money from my bank account to cover the cc bill. GRRRRRRRRRR!

Anyway.... Glask, certainly no harm in asking at the scan, but just don't get your hopes too much that they will tell you, even if they will tell you, it won't be a solid gold deal, things can look very much the same at that stage.

LaTour, good going with the 'over coming alergies' thing! Maybe it would be an idea to count down time rather than up? So x number of days/weeks/months till OV/BFP/baby etc. You know where I am if you ever want to offload, though I do realise I am probably not the right person in your mind. I have been there (and still am there is some ways) though and I understand how you are feeling.

I suppose I had better get some clothes on DS2, not sure he'd like to go to school with nothing on! T'is freezing out there!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/10/2008 09:03

Oh oh oh, annnnnnndddd this morning I was so grown up and brave.

DH went out at 6.29, BIG HUGE GIGANTIC spider pokes his head out at 6.34, instead of ringing DH ( wouldn't be the tenth first time I have done!) I knocked it down with a cushion, then banged it with my shoe, 20 two times, thought 'ha that fucker isn't going anywhere now', left it on the floor as knew I'd be hoovering after the boys had eaten breakfast, forgot about it, got the hoover out to get rid of it, and it has gone! The bloody thing is somewhere in here and it is going to be seaking revenge....

BigTeuchLittleTeuch · 03/10/2008 09:41

Hello ladies! NJ honked me, so it would have been rude not to swing by

I actually have been reading, I just have nothing interesting nor useful to post these days

I can't remember - I think I'm nearly 28weeks. Everything seems to have settled down although it is only about 7wks or so until I have to leave my lovely island home . I'm pretty huge and therefore a bit stiff and sore, and I get plenty of contractions & BH's which ain't comfortable.

Will have to skim up to get all the news!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 03/10/2008 09:43

NJ!!!!! you sound just like me with spiders.... however i normally get the long extension on my hoover and suck it up... then i'll empty the cylinder straight away, in the outside bin.... just in case its survived!! i sometimes go and hoover something hard and bitty up to crush it too if its a big one!!

Once i hoovered a MASSIVE spider up, then it was running round inside the hoover (being a dyson you could see it running round the thingy bit in the middle!!) then i went and hoovered some big cat litter out of the bag (clean!!) so it'd crush it!! The bastard was still moving!! so i emptied it into the outside bin and it tried to run out and get out of the bin!! So for the next week afterwards i made sure DH put all the rubbish in the bin in case it was waiting to jump on me!!

LaTour- holiday sounds great!! Ideal time to get away!! will maybe help take your mind off things!! And on the fruit and allergies thing, i was highly allergic to pineapple and rasberries from early puberty, and it would cause swelling in the mouth and throat, a rash all over my neck..... since having DS i'm not allergic any more!! How odd is that!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 03/10/2008 09:45

Hello Teuch!! Nice to hear from you- and OMG- your 28wks??? that seems to have flown by!! i'm pretty sure i first joined the wagon when you'd just got your BFP!!!

Diege · 03/10/2008 10:01

Glask and Nat, I am going to call the RSPCA on you two . What you need to do is get a glass and a piece of paper, scoop it up and release to freedom Come on, those little spiders might have babies somehere crying out for them (apparently every spider you see is female). There, do you feel guilty now???? .
Nat, nightmare over card business. I've had same in shop when my bank rang up over suspicious activity - just me having a splurge, but was really cross. I mean whose money is it anyway? . At least you can relax now anyway.
Hi TEUCH! Great to hear from you; the wagon misses its tech!
Well have ended up brining dd1 back home with me as she says she's not feeling well . Seems to have miraculously picked up now . dh away so had to take her up with me, cue school secretary telling me I should have dragged her up to school - a phone call would have done. Err yes, but I needed to bring her sister to school anyway and as dh away couldn't very well leave dd1 in house on her own...Cue 'yes dear, you really should just have rung us' . Sooo, now a perked up dd1 has to come and suffer the indigities of a joe jingles class for 2-3y olds .
