GYo · 13/08/2008 10:47

Slightly random question for those with kids.
Can anyone recommend a children's wear site that I could get some nice slippers from for my 7yearold niece?

I've looked but Im pretty useless with kids shops!

Thanks

kookykid · 13/08/2008 11:11

Congrats Glask! Glad it's official after several BFPs!

Sadly I got a BFN this morning. Feeling very disheartened and low about the whole thing. Having to be cheerful as it's DH's bday and we're with the ILs so have to keep up appearances. Was so hoping to present DH with a + test!! (Mental note to self: Only test on days where wallowing in self-pity for 24 hours is allowed!)

lastboxoftampons · 13/08/2008 11:56

Hi all!

GYo and Diege I'm a porridge lover too (although I call it oatmeal ) But I usually just make it with water, too lazy to use milk, I guess. I usually just put a spoonful of sugar in. I love it that way When I was eating super healthily I would have porridge and scrambled egg whites (with part of the yolk! I'm not a saint!) for breakfast - it's actually quite a substantial breakfast and really filling, but has less fat, calories etc than more cereals!

Oh, and LOL at your surprise that you're posting about porridge GYo - the consistency of CM is a fine point of conversation but you get shy when it comes to breakfast!?!?

KK sorry about the BFN

Okay, so I have the old searching for new job while TTC problem. A job came up at a company that my DH's agency works with. It's not an ideal job for me, but it would get me out of where I am now and would be a good gateway into the industry that I would like to move into. Good benefits, better salary than I'm on now, 9 to 5, etc. I've been called for an interview and now I'm starting to panic...what is the right way to deal with this sort of thing??? We're TTC now - we have been since January, got pg first shot but had a mc at 11 weeks. Now on our 6th cycle since the mc, 5th trying and I have no idea what to expect! What do I do!?!!?

SesQal · 13/08/2008 12:03

kooky - really sorry for your bfn
It can get v disheartening and there have been quite a few days when I've felt so down - I can truly empathise. Wallowing time might be what you feel like and from the sounds of things, not much chance today so I hope DH birthday helps you take your mind off things even for few minutes.
Sorry - don't feel like I'm helping but feel free to offload on here.

SesQal · 13/08/2008 12:14

Hi LBOT
Bit of a dilemma for you! If I were you I'd act as if you're not ttc. May sound strange but your employer wouldn't be allowed to take it into account! If this year has told me anything it's to treat these things as individual entities and if we're fortunate enough for them to all pan out then we can enjoy the good things and deal with it then!

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 13/08/2008 12:16

gyo - THE GREAT PORRIDGE DEBATE LOL [GRIN]
i love chocolate readybrek with sugar
and semi skimmed mile do in microwave.

kooky-sorry for bfn what dpo r u? could you have tested too early happy bday 2 dh
lbot- go with your gut instinct regarding job

agent came to measure house and he took pics.

went into town bought dd a disney snow white costume so cute really good as in 1-2 years she is tiny all other costumes only start @ 3-4 years. this one is just the right length. have been wanting to get one for ages only has fairy costumes her friend is having a princess party next week so gr8 excuse to get one.
then popped to tesco for food.
just about missed the rain weather is awful here

Diege · 13/08/2008 12:19

Oh Kooky, so sorry for BFN and really hard when people are around that you have to 'perform' for. Will you get a chance to have a good wallow later on?
LBOX, in your situation I would carry on ttc while going for the interview/accepting the job. I put off ttc for a year when I got a new job, and greatly regret that now. It's a personal choice, but as others have said on other threads, it can take longer than you think to get that BFP, and companies can cope! Don't feel too disheartened about ttc..it WILL happen - took me 5 months with dd3 but 12 months is still normal...not much help I know..Are you using OPKs etc?
GYO, re: slippers, childrens salon (think it's www.childrenssalon.co.uk) is a lovely site, though have just looked at the price of slippers on there . 'Next' also do some more reasonable ones, and very pretty (avail online).
Right, off to the park!

lastboxoftampons · 13/08/2008 12:45

Thanks for the advice Ses, Tink and Diege You know, I wouldn't put off TTC for the job at this point, I just might put off the job for TTC But, yes, you're all right, I know that there's no planning these things and, like Ses said, it's best to treat them like separate entities. I guess I'm just feeling slightly optimistic about this month - my cycles have been really out of sorts since the mc, and they just seem to be edging back towards normal this past month (Possibly because of help from agnus castus). I would've loved to have seen what difference it might've made, but i was away from DH at ov time, so I have high hopes this month (dangerous I know!)

Anyway, I'll just go to the interview and see what happens!

GYo · 13/08/2008 12:59

Hi LBOT
good advice there from Tink, Ses, Diege. Go for it. Its so easy to think I wont do this or that in case.

Maybe a new job might be a good distraction for a bit from the the TTC, if you get what I mean. I started a new project role when starting to TTC, definately was good in keeping me from worrying about it too much- though I did still spend a lot of time on here

LOL re the porridge dicussion.

calsworld · 13/08/2008 13:36

Hi all, I did honk Nat via text the other day but she didn't reply - I just assumed she's busy with the two DS'. I've sent her another text to ask if all is OK...hopefully we'll hear from her soon.

Re porridge, made in a saucepan is far tastier than microwaved as you get to properly cook the oats so there'll all soft and swollen. Made with semi-skimmed milk and a small pinch of salt, simmered until very thick. Spoon into a bowl then gently pour more cold milk so that porridge floats like an island. Sprinkle brown sugar over or drizzle with golden syrup and eat from the outside in, taking care not to burn mouth!

That's the only way to eat porridge in my house! My grandad still makes porridge like this, and always did when we were kids - can't beat it!

GYo · 13/08/2008 13:40

Wow cals- that description of porridge really makes me want some! despite just having lunch

calsworld · 13/08/2008 13:52

I need to do my tesco shop and think it will include porridge oats now! I have been craving them a bit recently - probably because of the slow energy release.

Have just had a take-away from our staff canteen of chips and lasagne and have just polished off my 3.00 chocolate bar too!

Everyone remembering their folic acid?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/08/2008 14:22

Hello

All is well, so sorry for not being here, it has been hectotic to say the least! I had thought I'd been catching up every now and then, but hadn't realised it had quite as long since I posted, and hadn't realised till I got got Glask's email how long it it had been since I managed to even catch up!! So.....

Glaskham HUGEEEEEEEEE CONGRATULATIONS sweetie How exciting? So sosrry I missed it!

Diege, it is great to see you back, glad the holiday went well I have to ask how the full explosion went last night?!!! Has been a while since any speak of explosions or otherwise have been muttered in here! BTW, I found after my MC my cycles did lengthen a bit, but only by a matter of days.

Cal, sorry to have missed your texts, my mobile is..... somewhere... maybe in the bottom of my bag, not sure Where ever it is, if it has any battery left in it it would be a miracle! Will go and put it on charge after!

LB hoorah for the scan Do we get to see a pic?

Blimey, I can't remember anything else Hope everyone else is well, and that Tesco have some porridge left when I send DH off to get some!!

I am 2 days off being half way! 20 week scan next Wednesday, and then the shopping will commence! I will probably be AWOL for another week while I go and do some serious damage to our bank account, I've warned DH, he was OK about it, after I'd given the "but this will be our last baby" speech! LOL And if he says it's OK, then I know it is fine. I feel a day at Mamas and Papas coming on!!!

GYo · 13/08/2008 14:59

Hi NJ- no need to apologise for being busy, we are just glad that everything is ok

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/08/2008 15:13

Thanks GYo And how are you? Plodding yet?!!

I've just finally got my triple test results, 1 in 1100 chance of anything being wrong, a fair bit lower than with the boys, but still considered low risk I think I have reached the age where the risk starts to get higher anyway because I noticed in my notes that just my age had upped the risk. So full steam ahead for the scan next week!

calsworld · 13/08/2008 15:13

Anyone about....

You can all smile smugly now, am feeling very odd, I'm kind of trembling a little in my arms / hands and in my tummy and feel a bit sick...

should I be worried? I feel a little lightheaded too.

calsworld · 13/08/2008 15:14

Sorry, Hi NJ, thanks for checking in - I wasn't at all worried when you didn't reply the other day as assumed that would probably be the case .

Very excited for you re pending 20 week shop and scan! Not at all , not at all...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 13/08/2008 15:19

Cal, just texted you!!

Have you eaten? Drank? Done a marathon? Been to the loo? It could just be low BP (very normal), could be onset of MS or any of the above.

If you are worried, ring the GP/MW. Don't take chances.

OP posts:
calsworld · 13/08/2008 15:23

Just replied but before I saw the above. I've been eating little and often, haven't been to the loo

Def no marathons but I did go for a short walk at lunch time. I had a bit of a trumpy tum this morning but nothing over dramatic...

Last time MS crept up on me and only this morning I felt brilliant....does it come out of nowhere and smack you round the head............

Right, off for a wee...........
