Hi Tigerschick. Fingers crossed as always for you. Don't worry I'm not cooking today There are lots of advantages to being an only child too which I'm sure apply to your DD so don't beat yourself up (more independent, more mature, more attention, better language skills...). I think your DH must have gone to the same training school as mine as that's his favourite phrase too

Waiting2Exhale · 04/08/2008 14:15

Hi Abstract...thats really pants...(AF coming 5 mins after testing that is). Oh well, with the support you'll get here, you won't need to waste anymore preg tests by testing early

Tiggerschick, good luck on the scan today

yellowflowers · 04/08/2008 14:59

actually only away for one night and two days but it is THE night I think (and leave at sill oclock in the morning. Must do it day before and day after.

and me? TTC1, cycle 5, CD5, AF due Aug 28 or 29. Will be on my hols

Tigerschick · 04/08/2008 17:14

Oh where to start??

Scan went as these things do ... They give me a sheet of paper with a table and each row of the table is a different scan so you can see what has happened at previous scans at a glance. So I looked at it as I was going from the scan room to see my specialist and saw that, on my left ovary, there is a folicle of 17.8mm!! Woo Hoo, thinks I. Underneath is written, '1 of 16, 15 etc.' So I gave it to my specialist and she went, 'Well, something is definitely happening but I'm not sure what to do because of these other big ones ... I'll have to speak to Mr S (consultant) and call you later.'
So I went to visit a friend as planned and waited for the call. Specialist rang and said that Mr S wanted to scan me himself, could I get abck to the hospital by 4 o'clock?
Back we went. After waiting round for ages (!) we finally got seen and he found one of 15.5mm, two of 14mm, one of 13mm and one of 12mm, plus a load at 11mm and smaller. So, basically, I've gone from no stimulation to too much in the blink of an eye.

He said that I could stop and do nothing and just wait and see what happened or I can give myself Pregnyl which will cause all the larger folicles to be released and then not have unprotected sex until after I have a period because the risk is too high of having 4 or 5 fertilised eggs!!!

So ... now I have to speak to DH when he gets home and see what he thinks. But it certainly looks like Puregon is not the way for me.

Because we already have DD, we wouldn't be entitled to IVF on the NHS so that's out as we can't afford to go private.
So the most likely course of action is to go for an Ovarian Diathermy.

Then, just before we left, he muttered something, then said 'hmm' then said 'I'll look over your file and talk to P (specialist) and get her to call you tomorrow.' And with that he got up and left. So now, I'm going to talk to DH tonight but I think I might wait until I've spoken to my specialist tomorrow before doing the Pregnyl, but I'll have to do it anyway ... it just seems like such a waste of follicles!

Sorry for massive post but needed to get all that off my chest.
The long and the short of it is: I'm out for a May baby.

Good luck to all the rest of you, I'll bob back and see how you're getting on every now and then.

JLo2 · 04/08/2008 18:54

Wow Tigerschick - So what happens if you don't take Pregnyl and have unprotected sex? Are you still at very high risk of multiples? And what on earth is an Ovarian Diathermy? Let us know what happens tomorrow. Sorry to be so ignorant

Welcome to the thread rhetorician. We're away towards the end of August too. I'm hoping it will take my mind off the whole '2 week wait' thing, although I'm hoping my AF waits until I get home as we'll be at Center Parcs swimming (obviously I'd rather it didn't come at all!)

twoplease · 04/08/2008 19:02

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear your news about being out this month Tigerschick, it sounds like your day has been a rollercoaster of emotions - fingers crossed there is some positive news in time for next month. I completely get where you are coming from about watching your little girl with others who have siblings after spending the afternoon with two friends and their little ones (2 each) but like JLo2 said, there are some great benefits to an only whether it be a temporary situation or hopefully not!

rhetorician - welcome, i shall be on my hols too come AF due date (25/26th) and nowhere near a computer so have no hope of holding out til the 1st to test !!

am looking forward to being 'busy' as you put it JLo2, am hoping some time with just DH as DD off to mums for a couple of days will do us some good. good luck all

twoplease · 04/08/2008 19:34

x-posts with you JLo2 - I too am going to Centre Parcs for my holiday and was cursing that i might have to deal with swimming everyday whilst on my period until DH pointed out that it was better that than OV during that week and trying to BD whilst sharing a chalet with in laws/grandparents and nephews/nieces!!

JLo2 · 04/08/2008 19:59

LOL twoplease I don't think the beds at CP would be up to it let alone all the relatives Which one are you going to?

twoplease · 04/08/2008 20:16

The beds are a bit iffy aren't they. We are off to Eleveden - you?

Tigerschick · 04/08/2008 20:29

Hey ladies
Thanks for your thoughts, I'm feeling a bit better now that DH is home and we've had a chance to talk things through.
I'm in a bit of discomfort as having this many large follicles is not normal - it's like having several marbles where your ovary should be ... and it's all for nought!

JLo2 - I'm not 100% certain about the Ovarian Diathermy, I know that Atilla had one tho. AFAIK it's an operation where they 'zap' some of the follicles. It's quite minor in surgery terms (compared with heart by-passes etc ) but still quite a big deal.

I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.

Good luck everyone else

JLo2 · 05/08/2008 11:12

Glad you're feeling a bit better Tigerschick. It all sounds a bit of a nightmare, but will be worth in the end I'm sure.

We're going to a CP in Belgium twoplease. I know it sounds a bit mad but it was cheaper to go there than in the UK (including the cost of the ferry!) We went to one in Holland last year and enjoyed it so much we booked again when we got home. Of course the Euro/Pound exchange is not as good now as it was then. We went to Elveden when DS#1 was little (about 10 years ago)although they've done it all up since then because it burnt down, but it was really good then

twoplease · 05/08/2008 17:38

Evening,
That sounds barmy JLo2 but am intrigued - going to look into it for a holiday next year - my brother lives in Germany so it could be an ideal way to meet up - thanks for the tip off.

on a baby-making front, I am only CD8 but am convinced am ovulating. I tend to have shorter cycles, sometimes only 21 so would this be likely anyone? Guess i should invest in some ov tests but am a bit skint and am still trying not to make things too technical - am going for the BD every other day approach this month and see if that is successful.

JLo2 · 06/08/2008 10:55

Morning all
I'm with you on this one twoplease. Don't get technical just go for it! You may well be ovulating or it may be something to do with digestion, you're not going to know so every other day sounds good

On the CParcs thing. It was definitely cheaper for the 5 of us all travelling in one car. I don't know if it's a bigger group how it would work out - it looks like you take the whole extended family with you
The one we went to in Holland last year was very close to German border. I'm told if you book it from the German part of the website it is even cheaper, but I've never tried.

twoplease · 07/08/2008 13:35

Afternoon, any news from anyone? I am a bit lost I have just come back from taking my DD to my mum's - she is having a small 'holiday' there - i have got so many things to do at home but am already missing her!

Anyway, good luck to all over the next week - hope we all make some may babies!!

JLo2 · 07/08/2008 14:23

Hi Twoplease
I'm assuming it's quiet because everyone's busy Either that or we've scared everyone off

twoplease · 07/08/2008 16:53

I hope we haven't scared anyone off with our center parcs ramblings, they were a bit random!

sorry guys

rhetorician · 07/08/2008 17:00

guess we are all limbering up for the may babies now. I sometimes think I'm a total nutter as I mutter 'come on eggs' or some such to my belly but think that they need some encouragement. Good luck to everyone...

Waiting2Exhale · 07/08/2008 23:35

Hi ladies,

Am CD12 at the mo and heading off on a long weekend with DH and child during the crucial big O time. Really looking forward to it and hoping we're able to maximise our bding time with DC around. Back monday so will be checking in on how everyone else has done on the run up before the 2ww. Best of luck girlies

lillypie · 07/08/2008 23:51

MintChocAddict · 07/08/2008 23:59

Hi All,

Can I join please?

Fingers crossed for all.

twoplease · 08/08/2008 10:29

Morning all and welcome MintChocAddict. I am also TTC#2 and trying not to get too hung up on when it happens but would love to have another one before my DD goes to school next September - May would be perfect!!

Waiting2Exhale - hope you have a great weekend away - am also CD12 so we are doing our best

Happy Friday to all and enjoy the weekend

yellowflowers · 10/08/2008 10:14

was away and while I was away had positive opk - though it was morning which doesn't count apparently. Managed to have sex 24 hours later though - too late?

anyway good luck to everyone. I hate the waiting...

RipMacWinkle · 10/08/2008 19:47

Evening all - a lot going on here just now but just wanted to pop on to say hello and sign myself up.

I came over from lissie's "do not test" thread :-)

My stats? TTC DC#2, cycle 8 with an early mc in March. Had hoped for a smaller gap but hey, ho. It wasn't to be...

Here's hoping that May is our month. I'm only on CD4 so there's a long way to go yet.

lou031205 · 10/08/2008 20:17

Hi, I joined on page 1, but won't be having a May baby, because I got a BFP on 5th August. Hope many more BFPs are on their way.
