Hi all. I had a scan today that didn?t go too well. I?ve been referred to Kings College in London and have an appointment to see them on Wednesday.

There were some questions over the nuchal fluid test that need double checking and as to whether the babies are in the same sac. At one of my earlier scans I was told that this was the case but today was told that it?s not a good thing for them to be in the same sac and that if that is the case then there is a very high fatality rate. The sonographer today discovered a thin membrane that looks like it could be separating the babies in the placenta which is good and means they will be fine but Kings College will be able to run further tests and confirm this for us.

I'm not to nervous at the moment but I imagine I will be come Wednesday.

glaskham · 24/07/2008 18:31

oh pop- hope all looks well on wednesday. If it looks like they could be separating lets hope it does happen eh!!

Ses15 · 24/07/2008 18:39

Pop- Sorry to hear you've had a stressful day. Hopefully the sonographer was right and there are separate sacs. I'll keep everything crossed for you.

lardybump · 24/07/2008 18:40

Oh pop I really hope everything goes well for you on Wednesday....

Ses15 · 24/07/2008 18:40

kookykid · 24/07/2008 19:56

Evening all,
Been another hectic day in the Kooky household! The computer didn't even go on until after DD was in bed! Thanks for comments and glad you liked the shoes - I am slightly concerned about feet ache as it's been a while since I was the girl that never went anywhere without at least 3 inches on her shoes!
Wow, Tink, can't believe you are 15 weeks already!
RE: Ofsted - I worked in a supposed "failing School" but it was one of the lovliest schools ever and the insepctor just had an axe to grind - we subsequently got "Good with Outstanding elements". Agree with going with your instincts once you've visited.
RE: Morning Sickness - I was lucky and only had a slight sensation of travel sickness if I was over-tired or very hungry. Eating little and often was the best way of easing it.
Congrats on the BFP, Kal! And you again Cal!
Pop sorry about your new worries - King's are really truly excellent though.
Phew! Think that's everyone! Sorry if I missed you.

Ses15 · 25/07/2008 07:24

Morning! We're taking our visitors off to Chessington World of Adventures today. Should be something for everyone! Personally I'm a wuss and won't do the rides but I'm looking forward to the zoo and seaworld.

Done my temp again this morning and 36.90. If anyone is good with temps could you have a look back at my post from yesterday morning and tell me what you think?

Also....WOW! Congrats Kal! That's 2 Cal/Kals duffed within a couple of days! Maybe I'll try changing my. Name to Qal!??!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 25/07/2008 08:12

Morning all

Pop, just echoing everyone else really, really hope the sonographer is right, not had any personal experience, but have heard on MN many times that Kings is the best of the best. Everything crossed for you xxx

LB glad you had a good day - long may it continue

Ses, did slightly PMSL (well, this is my third.... ) at 'Qal', I have visions of Qal1, Qal2, Qal3, Qal4 appearing all over the place!

Plans today, potter about a bit this morning, lunch time go and pick up DS1's friend for the afternoon, spend all afternoon watching them for going overboard and making my house explode, or collapse, or implode, or something spend all evening putting the house back together! Oh, what fun!

Thanks to you all for your lovely words. It really helps to here positive people.

Does anyone know anything about downs stats? The sonographers computer was playing up a bit so she couldn't give the correct stats to me. Hoping kings can!! One measurement was 2.2mm and one was 1.9mm. The stats came out as 1 in 314 and one in 469. is this really a cause for concern?

Thanks

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 25/07/2008 08:28

Sorry Pop I don't know about the measurement's themselves, the stats though (if they are indeed correct?) sound a lot worse than they are, a 1 in 100 stat is equal to a 1% chance of there been downs, 1% is nothing really, you'd never put money on those kind of stats, and yours is much higher than 100, so with your stats it really would be a miniscule chance of there being something 'wrong'.

OP posts:
tinkisagracefulshamu · 25/07/2008 08:31

morning

the 2.2mm and 1.9mm they are the neck measurments which are low risk the measurments can be anywhere from 1.2mm - 2.9mm for low risk.
the other measurments mean 1 in 314 women have a baby with downs for one and 1 in 469 for the other i would say results are in the middle.
looks like we are moving
will be great for dd and new baby to have a room each

Cosmogirl · 25/07/2008 08:32

Morning all,

Pop - fraid I don't know anything about the stats, but wanted to wish you all the best for Wednesday.

Ses - Chessington sounds a lot of fun! I went many years ago when I was about 10.

Nat - your day sounds much more enjoyable than sitting in an office behind a computer. Want to trade?

Well no AF, so DH is allowing himself to get a little bit excited now....Going to do another FR tomorrow morning to check levels are still OK.

Haven't added me due date to the list yet because for some reason my laptop won't allow me to post long messages like the list. I've tried it before and it just won't work. Sorry to be a pain, but if anyone is updating sometime soon I think due around 31st March.

It is Friday at last - yey! This has been the most surreal week ever....

Cosmogirl · 25/07/2008 08:33

"me due date".........I meant "my" due date of course..lol

Morning All

Good luck Pop- I hope it all goes ok at Kings...

Enjoy Chessington Ses (or Qal!!) hope your guests enjoy it.

Hi NJ- enjoy your potter, I was amused about you hiding in a corner, hope your house doesnt implode/ explode or similar.

DH and I sat there last night drawing what we remembered the scan to look like on Tusday. I thought it was just a black hole but he reckons he saw something inside it. So amusing- we certainly arent artists.

Apparently the gestational sack grows 1mm a day after 4 wks.

Morning everyone else

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 25/07/2008 08:39

Cosmo, would trade in a heartbeat! My kids I can handle but always feel erm.... weird with playdates here, it doesn't feel like 'us' Never mind, it will keep DS1 busy for a while!

OP posts:
GYo · 25/07/2008 08:41

Morning Cosmo- didnt see you there.

Cosmogirl · 25/07/2008 08:43

Morning GYo - ahh that's so sweet, you and DH drawing the scan

Thanks for updating me, Nat. Cannot work out why it won't let me post lists...

Not sure whether to join an April AN thread or March....Guess with such a late March due date it is more likely to be April, but who knows...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 25/07/2008 08:48

Awww GYo, can just picture you both sat there drawing away

Cosmo, with DS2 my first EDD was the 25th of Nov, second was 29th Nov, he was actually born on 7th Dec, but I (and all of the rest of us that went over) just stayed put in Nov, so in a way, it wouldn't matter which thread you join!

OP posts:
tinkisagracefulshamu · 25/07/2008 08:50

morning all

we are looking @ putting house up for sale asap see if we can sell before new baby arrives
and then get dd enroled into a primary school

Ses15 · 25/07/2008 08:57

house move sounds v exciting tink! Hope it all works out.

Pop - sorry I've no idea about the measurements but the others are right about those odds still being quite low.

Right - being the saddo that I am, have new iPhone and will take it with me to Chessington so I don't get MN withdrawl! Am using it to type this now acksherly!

GYo · 25/07/2008 08:58

Hi Tink- sounds like a great decision. My friend moved whilst she was pregnant- certainly pushed things along a bit quicker (house perspective not baby!) but she also got to stand about and tell people what to do rather than do it herself

Thank goodness its friday today. Long Long week.

Anyone got good plans for the w/e?

GYo · 25/07/2008 08:59

Cool Ses- you can update us on the fun rides (or not so fun!!)
