Bloody hell Cal, I don't remember you mentioning that about the heatburn last time

5 weeks? It's fine, you have the best excuse going for a rounder belly, use it and abuse it woman!

NJ - I posted about it on the Dec thread as my EDD had been moved so was crossing between the two a bit -

By calsworld on Wed 27-Sep-06 18:22:13

Lubella - glad you're feeling well, I've not posted for ages but I've been reading all the posts - I got fed up of feeling like I was always complaining and saying the same old things....still being sick and i'm now nearly 31 weeks...can't wait till LO is born so that it can all be over!

I spent three days in hospital a couple of weeks ago due to severe abdo pain, which they think is down to a damaged oesophagus and stomach from ott heartburn - I thought what i had was normal but apparently not! - I'd love a curry....just can't do it...I'm also off chilli which is disappointing as I really love mexican food....

But apart from that, I feel remarkably well, I went to my first aquanatal class today and feel like I actually did some exercise, so whilst i'm tired, I kind of feel energised...my joints feel better anyway - can't explain...will therefore stop waffling!

Cal

calsworld · 23/07/2008 14:39

I'd forgotten about aquanatal classes - I'm going to start them earlier this time around for sure!

Did someone say the thread had been quiet

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/07/2008 14:43

Pah! All that time you were a cross poster Cal? tut tut tut

Thread is never quiet with you about.....

Thanks Nat. Just had 2 richtea and some water and nagging feeling has passed a bit.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/07/2008 14:54

It does help to keep something in your belly, helps with the heartburn later on as well.

GYo / Cosmo, I missed your posts earlier with all my rambling chit chat! Glad I'm not on my own re bloated tum!

I have no idea about when to tell work and am sat here feeling really, really guilty. There is a new guy starting next week with experience in the area I look after (no-one else in the dept. has and its quite complex) so he'd be ideal to pick up, it takes about 9 months to get going normally so the ideal situation would be for him to come in and start on my area straight away, it also means less confusion for the wider business, telling them he will be looking after one thing, but then going on to change it in a few months time. BUT DH is adamant I shouldn't be telling anyone yet - I think I'll make him do some research and tell me when he does think its OK to announce it!

We've got a beach party booked with all our mates at the end of august (Bank Holiday weekend) which I will be TOTALLY rumbled at!) but I think he wants to wait until then.

I really want to tell my mum and grandma coz grandma is really poorly and think it will give her something else to look forward to and to chat about . I only hope that she will hang on until its born - its one of the key reasons I wanted to get pg sooner rather than later.

Cosmogirl · 23/07/2008 15:07

Cals - we too are having the 'when to tell dilemma'. It is already getting tricky. Going to sister's this weekend and she just texted to say do we want to go mackerel fishing and then have bbq on the beach with what we catch. Not sure if I'm allowed to eat mackerel coz of mercury etc... Does anyone know. If not, I'm prob going to have to tell her as it will look really rude if I say 'we don't want to go fishing'.....

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/07/2008 15:10

I thought it was tuna that had high levels of mercury in?

I don't know about mackerel TBH.

Just googled it and a couple of sites say to avoid it....Oh bum! It is going to look weird enough that I'm not drinking....

tinkisagracefulshamu · 23/07/2008 15:18

hi

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 15:18

Ok ladies - I could do with good ways to get rid of a headache. I know I can take paracetamol (sp?) but a) I don't have any and I'm sure we only have neurofen here and b) I often find plain paracetamol not that effective.

Cosmogirl · 23/07/2008 15:21

Oo just found this on www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/HavingABaby/HealthInPregnancy/DG_4002857 re: things you can eat.

fish (two servings a week, including oily fish like sardines and mackerel - ensure fresh tuna consumption does not exceed two servings per week)

Looks like it's OK

tinkisagracefulshamu · 23/07/2008 15:22

i have constant headaches on and off playing i try not to take anything and they seem to go on there own and i am the same as you before i got pregnant would have to have cococodamol as paracetemol didnt work

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 15:23

I've had to tell work Cal. I am currently completely shit at my job due to feeling rubbish most of the time. My boss notice my work output and quality decreased, I really had to come clean. I am so glad I did, he has been really nice and it helps that he knows. No one else at work knows yet but I am sure they will find out soon enough. Think I've got to a point now (offically 8 weeks according to the wheel) where if I mc it will be a nasty affair and won't be able to hide it anyway so I might as well tell people if they guess. DH and I have now developed the policy of if people ask we tell, if not we don't say anything. Suprising few people have asked outright yet.

Cosmogirl · 23/07/2008 15:23

Playing - lots of water, open windows, or take 5 outside in the fresh air, temple massage?...

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 23/07/2008 15:27

Cosmo, how about just saying you've had a bag tummy bug? Gets you out of drinking and smelly fishy BBQ's!

Playing, again, best thing for headache is to make sure you are eating and especially drinking often.

Thanks ladies. I am trying to drink plenty of water and eating fairly regularly. Fresh air would be lovely but its much hotter and muggier outside then it is inside. Its really hot and humid today.

Cosmogirl · 23/07/2008 15:34

Playing - good point. Is there a fan somewhere in your office? That might help a bit..

Nat - just texted sis to say 'ok'. Feel bad saying no and if the government says mackerel is safe, must be true.

Kaybeeand2boys · 23/07/2008 15:37

hiya cal and nj, we are all ok thanks. ds2 suffering from reflux like ds1 did - grrrrrr

it seems so much harder to get ds2 into a bedtime routine, maybe just because i havent got time to concentrate on it

calsworld · 23/07/2008 15:41

Cosmo - I'm sure its fine too, just make sure its really well cooked.

Playing - I'm having problems on that front too (re quality and quantity of output), boss has def. noticed somethings up as we're trying to do budgets at the moment and last week, before I even got BFP (should have twigged really!) I couldn't work out what to do (have been doing them for eight years!) so had to go to ask, when she told me in several steps, I had to say, well I'll go do step one, but then I may have to come back...if I'm honest I think she suspects something anyway.

Receptionist asked if I was "a little bit pregnant" when I went home sick a couple of weeks ago with my hangover upset tum.

I had a random strop on one of the managers last week and hung up on him and one of the other managers said "not pregnant are you, seem to remember you being like this last time". Doh Doh Doh!

DH is just being really funny about it.

Playingthe9monthwait · 23/07/2008 16:05

I can understand where you Dh is coming from Cal but its not him that has to put up with feeling shit and trying to work. I was planning to wait till 12 weeks to tell work but it became very clear that I just wasn't going to get away with that. I honestly think if I hadn't told my boss I would have ended up getting into trouble at work, he knew something was wrong.

If you are underperforming in your job for any health reasons I really thinks its easier for all people to know. I mean if I didn't know I was pg I would probably be off sick right now cos I feel so shit so its obvious I am not at my best right now. Why carry on pretending everything is ok when it so clearly isn't!

lardybump · 23/07/2008 16:30

Hello everyone how are we all???? havent been on for ages I have missed you all!!
