Oh, beanie, {{{{hugs}}}. I don't know what to say, except that even though it shouldn't be, it may still be too early for the pg test.

It does sound as though it might be worth seeing another GP, unless you can press her more on the timing thing. Also, I know you can't afford to go private, but if you can't get the help you need from your/another GP, do you think you might be able to stretch to a one-off consultation with someone who might be able to advise you? I'm not sure who that would be tbh, but it just doesn't seem as if you're getting what you need with the speed that you need it. It's so hard to have to be really pushy when you just want someone to help you, but sometimes you just have to be super-demanding to get what you need from the NHS

Jael - good luck! Thinking of you this afternoon.

Mammina · 28/08/2008 14:21

beanieb please don't give up hope. Can't help you with the IVF option but I would definitely see another GP, you have nothing to lose by doing that. When I saw my GP the other day I said I was worried about my age and that we'd been TTC for about 6 months, and he said to give it another 3 months then go back and see him about getting help to conceive. Now I don't know exactly what he meant by help (I wasn't ready to go into that then) but I will be 38 in Jan & he didn't mention anything about age limits... Everyone keeps talking about Clomid - have you tried it? (sorry if you've already gone down that route)

beanieb · 28/08/2008 14:34

I don't think clomid would be needed as I do ovulate. I am sorry for moaning on, I feel very down and perhaps I need to step away from here for a while, particularly when other people DO have good news to celebrate.

The limit for referral for IVF on the NHS in Wales is 38 years and 6 months. I am 38 years and 5 months and I have only just had the referral to have more tests (had all the bloods etc) so I am probably not going to get a sniff at IVF anyway.

Hope everyone else is full of beans and sorry for bringing you all down. It's been really great to see so many people get their BFPs and I am sure I will feel better later in the month

thanks for all teh advice and help xxxx

Igotwheels · 28/08/2008 14:51

Beanie, I think it is worth having a discussion about your worries (age, time, wanting more then one, etc) with the GP. I think I have mentioned my age every time I have seen someone. If you feel your GP might respond with more urgency, then why not see her again, or perhaps another GP to ask about the time for referral/waiting/likelihood of of IVF/concerns. Please don't step away from here, I tried to and came back within a fortnight! This thread is very supportive and informative too.

Mammina · 28/08/2008 14:54

I see, didn't really know exactly what clomid was..
That would be ridiculous if you missed the age limit by a few weeks, are they really that strict about you having to be exacty 38 + 6m - that seems ridiculous, but I guess they do have to have a limit at some stage - it does seem young to me though (?)
Whereabouts in Wales are you if you don't mind me asking?
x

Jael · 28/08/2008 15:04

Well it's not good newes and I'm so upset I can't stop crying, the woman couldn't see anything on the ultrasound, and made me do a pg test which came back negative. Even though my CB digi said pregnant, and another test this morning, the most likely thing which is going to happen is a chemical pregnancy, I don't even know what to think I'm just so upset, so I'm probably gonna start AF anytime now...

beanieb · 28/08/2008 15:05

OH Jael I am sorry to hear this. I hope you're ok x

Migola I am on Cardiff

Igotwheels - I recon you are right, I need to be more firm. I will make another appointment.

Mammina · 28/08/2008 15:15

Jael you poor thing, that's what happened to me the other day, they did a test & it was negative even though I'd had a positive one a few days earlier.

My sister lives in Cardiff (I've been trying to convince DH to move there but he won't . Was just asking bec a friend of mine is a GP thought I could get some advice from her but she's in N Wales..

leaky · 28/08/2008 16:19

Oh so sorry Jael.Hope you've got someone with you. Sending you a big {{{hug}}}

Thinking of you too Beanieb{{{hug }}}

Jael · 28/08/2008 17:09

Nope,I'm all by myself with my DD. Don't like for her to see me crying, and I'm p**d off with DP for going back to work leaving me in such a state...It's like a waiting game now for AF to start, knowing I actually got BFP too.

Leaky Good luck for tomorrow for you, I'll be logging in bright and early to see you've gone on. Jael

Igotwheels · 28/08/2008 19:34

Sorry to hear this Jael.

I don't think DP and DH realise how much it hurts. I don't think they mean to cause upset by their actions. I hope he can support you when he gets home.

My DH always deals with things practically, without discussing feelings, and this can hurt sometimes, but at other times it helps me.

leaky · 28/08/2008 20:15

I'm not sure if I'm starting to get AF. After pains through last night i've not really had any today & was feeling a bit sicky, although i never know if I'm imagining things.Went to toilet earlier & had a small bit of blood, but very light, could be spotting (sorry for TMI).
Think I'll see what happens overnight.
I'm not going to test in the morning though if still no AF, think I'll leave it to the afternoon when DH gets home to be sure.Tomorrow is CD34 & last month AF came lunchtime on CD34.

ShayeraHol · 28/08/2008 20:28

Jael, so sorry. Sending hugs your way.

beanie as well, big hugs - I know it's hard, but try to keep your spirits up. There are so many success stories out there. Also, following on from migola's thoughts - my MIL is a nurse at the Royal Gwent, I'm wondering if she might know anything/anyone that would help you. If you think it's worth asking anything, let me know (I'm highly ignorant so don't know what I could ask for you).

Best of luck, leaky - hope it is symptoms and not your imagination!

Am feeling even less hopeful for this month now - yesterday got teary over stupid thing (admittedly after a 2 hour meeting from hell and 4 hour drive from hell), and today have some spotting which is how stuff normally starts for me. A few days earlier than expected. Rrrrrubbish.

bluebell82 · 28/08/2008 21:11

I've only had 2 afs since having Ruby becuase of breast feeding, but they have both been 28days... going to get on it tonight!!! lost my sex drive completely after giving birth- although I had a wonderful birth it did leave some lasting stuff, but apparently there is an operation to 'fix it' just think ina couple of years I could have a designer vagina!

bluebell82 · 28/08/2008 21:33

Jael · 29/08/2008 13:44

Any news Leaky? Hope you've got your BFP. Fingers crossed for you, Jael x

leaky · 29/08/2008 16:15

Hi everyone,

Well my AF has arrived, bang on time. I actually feel ok about it, probably cos I often have the niggling feeling of wondering if going up to 3 kids is a good move for us as a family or not.Actually it's been SO nice to have a day where I've not been constantly thinking 'am I pregnant?'

Off on holiday tomorrow to my mum's in Spain so good luck to all those still waiting....be good to hear about some BFP's

I'll join the June thread now too.

ShayeraHol · 29/08/2008 17:24

Claire236 · 29/08/2008 19:25

Hello all

Came off the pill all of a week ago & already getting twitchy as I got pregnant with my son only a few weeks after I stopped taking the pill. Does that mean I should relax as it's likely to be the case this time or might it be different this time round. If anything I'm more worried than first time round.

Sblubby · 29/08/2008 21:46

Hi thinking of trying again - what does CD mean as it's not on the acronyms list - is it countdown from first day of last AF? And # denotes attempts? Sorry, new to all this. Thanks for help. Feel like I need support.
