Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Definitely something there!

I see something too and I never usually see it! Fingers crossed it keeps progressing and will be clearer in a couple of days.

@Happymama04 - I tried the easy at home ones last month and didn’t get on with them at all so have gone back to Clearblue for this cycle. In the past I’ve just tested for a cycle or two before TTC and then stopped when we actually start trying to take some pressure off. I’m using them again this cycle though as I think I’ll be ovulating much later than usual so didn’t want to miss it.

@Posypear - hope the GP is helpful, let us know how you get on. I’ve got my blood tests booked with mine in a couple of weeks. I’m also 36 so we’re ploughing on with TTC in the meantime.

@Happymama04 I use the easy@home strips too with Premom app, and like that they are cheap enough to test 2-3 times a day when you start to see a rise. I started with clearblue but last cycle I had gone through a 10 pack and hadn’t even started to see the surge so would have been expensive to keep it up. I switched to easy@home that cycle, caught the surge and conceived (even though it didn’t work out). So I’m trying that method again! Trying DTD every other day and then will switch to every day when I get the surge.

@Posypear @Pottingsheddays I hope you get some answers from gp and tests. I’m 39 and also feeling like I should go, I might give it this cycle and then enquire.

Yes those are the ones I’ve got @Springcloud26. I do find that they are good when you get the peak but I just get so annoyed with the process of waiting and testing and getting low numbers. Do you find your gradually increases? I seem to have all low then suddenly a high. I’ve only got one left that I bought last cycle so I’ll take it later and then just have to wait for my temp shift to confirm ovulation. We DTD on CD 9, 12 and will go for tonight on 14. Then we’re going away to a caravan for the weekend with our girls so I don’t know how easy it will be to DTD with the rooms so close together 😂 hopefully we will have covered enough days 🤞

I think I’ll go back to clear blue too and like you say just for a couple of cycles while I figure it out again. My cycles were a bit up and down after coil removal and now with the ectopic I just want a bit more of an idea!

Mine have been a bit up and down, but seem to be staying around the 0.35-0.4 mark now. I’m guessing they will until I get the surge. As long as they don’t drop to 0.12 again, in which case I don’t know what’s going on!

Thank you 😊 tbh I'm just not believing its real until after 6 weeks.

I used the easy@home ovulation strips. This was this cycle for me. I always get peaks in evening so test then.

Oddly I alternate between cycles where I have ovulation pains and the cycles are 32 days long and low LH peaks around CD17/18 (never get a ratio over 1), and cycles with no pain that are shorter, stronger LH surge around CD13/14. All times I have conceived have been on the shorter, no pain, high LH cycles. We did kind of SMEP unintentionally - day 9, 11, 13, 14, 15.

I had my first peak yesterday following my miscarriage 3 weeks ago. So happy as didn’t realise you could ovulate so soon after and only started testing on the weekend. Have gone all out and been using the easy@ home tests and clear blue combined!

bit worried how I’ll feel if unsuccessful first time round though, I’ve heard so many stories about people getting pregnant again before their first period. Literally as I was waking up from the d&c surgery (in tears) the nurse who was caring for me was trying to comfort me and said the same happened to her and she got pregnant straight away and her son is now 30 years old!! It’s always taken us quite a while to conceive (12 ish months) so bit worried how optimistic im being that it will happen this month. How is everyone else feeling?

That's promising, @Changechangechange1!

Of course you might not feel this way, but I was surprisingly alright when my period arrived after my MC. I'd hoped to get pregnant straight away, but I think at the back of my mind I felt I hadn't 'reset' properly if that makes sense?

It took us 8 cycles to conceive, so FWIW I share the sense of worry about how long it might take again.

But the saddest I've been about a BFN was actually our first cycle of trying - which made me realise how much I actually want a family!

Now, nearly a year later, I'm far less hopeful and far more jaded 😂

💐

Great news on the peak 🙌 I can relate to the optimism you’re feeling, I feel the same and need to keep reminding myself that I now have only one tube and if I ovulate from that side there’s a much lower chance but odds are still quite low even if it was from my side with the tube! Good to be optimistic but at the same time I’m just to remind myself to be realistic 🤔

@FlyingHighFlyingLow That looks like you had a really good dtd timing against the surge pattern - this is exactly what I want to aim for this cycle, and mine looked fairly similar last time!

I’m feeling a bit disheartened as my surge doesn’t seem to be happening yet, tested again this evening and it’s back down to 0.19. I know I need to be patient.

@Changechangechange1 That’s great news that you have caught your peak and it’s happened only after 3 weeks! Fingers crossed for you!

I’d heard the same thing about getting pregnant before your first period after and hoping to maximise my chances this cycle too.

How’s everyone doing? I had temp increase today so 1dpo 🤞 I learnt last month when I was waiting for my first period that I had all the twinges that I usually hope are pregnancy so going to try and be relaxed this month! I had what I think was ovulation pain and it was on my right side where I still have a tube so I feel hopeful with that 🤞

I hope the TWW goes quickly for you and that is great you feel it happened on the right side this cycle! 🤞

I’m also trying to relax with symptoms as I felt exactly the same this month as I did my pregnant cycle but negative and no period yet. CM has started to become noticeable again so I’m hoping I’ll get my LH surge sometime in the next week.

@Happymama04 love this! Hope this is a good luck charm for us all! I'm a bit nervous about what's going to happen this cycle after the two chemicals in a row but I guess we can only keep trying.

13 dpo and definitely there! Top one is an ultra sensitive one step one, bottom a general boots one. Keeping my fingers crossed this one makes it and sending rainbow baby dust to all!

I have cramps, insomnia, feel not great in the evening (but by evening I'm so tired between the insomnia and looking after a crazy active toddler), stronger food preferences maybe. No bloating, boob's are fine etc.

Tbh, I probably feel better than I usually would if I had PMS. When I had my chemical I felt much worse than I do now with all the symptoms. I was so bloated I looked 6 months pregnant and it was making me so nauseous. So I have no idea if feeling different is a good sign or if the fact I don't really have any symptoms is a bad sign 🤷‍♀️

Congratulations @FlyingHighFlyingLow! Keeping my fingers crossed this is your rainbow baby 💕

Love the rainbow photo @Happymama04 - hopefully that’s a good luck sign for all of us.

CD12 here and got my flashing smiley on the CB ovulation test, so feels like we’re back to TTC properly now. Trying not to get my hopes up too much for this month, but it’s hard not to focus on it happening quickly again x
