Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Congratulations @FlyingHighFlyingLow🌈💜

Great news on the flashing smiley @Pottingsheddays! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

Springcloud26 · 31/08/2026 07:42

@FlyingHighFlyingLow I would take it as a good sign that you feel different to how you did for the chemical!

@Pottingsheddays Good news on the flashing smiley! Fingers crossed you get the static soon.

I’m still getting nowhere with LH tracking, and kind of wish I had also started the clearblue to track oestrogen rise but probably too late now to find the baseline, if it’s already started? I need to remind myself when I used CB last cycle I used all 10 tests and was still getting the flashing smiley before I switched to LH strips, so a long run up isn’t unusual, I think I just expected something to happen before 6 weeks post MMC.

It’s so tough isn’t it @Springcloud26. Are you also tracking your BBT? I got an LH peak on weds but my temp hasn’t increased and so I tested LH again and had a rise of 0.81 yesterday, so wondering if I didn’t ovulate and will soon? Chat GPT doesn’t have a clue what’s happening either😂I’m feeling a bit deflated because thought everything was returning to normal but my d&c was only 3 weeks ago so need to be patient I suppose x

Pottingsheddays · 31/08/2026 09:16

Thanks! Classic timing it’s coincided with DD sleep going to pot. Was up from 2.30 to 4.30 last night - she’s teething atm so hope it settles soon.

@Springcloud26 it’s so hard being in limbo and not knowing where you’re at with your cycle. I found it took up more headspace at that stage even though it’s just a waiting game. I think you’re right that the CB would be a waste of money without a baseline though. Are you testing negative now?

No I’m not tracking BBT, I’m wondering whether to start in next proper cycle if it doesn’t happen this time. I know what you mean about feeling deflated, I now wish I hadn’t waited until 39 to try for first as feel like I’m losing time now, and then it makes me feel sad again that the MMC happened as I would be further along if it had been successful.

It could be that you are about to ovulate soon! Do you usually feel any symptoms around ovulation?

Yep I’m definitely feeling like I don’t want to give it a this headspace now but not sure how to stop. I’m still getting a shadow on HCG stick! I don’t know whether to go back to GP or wait until 8 weeks if nothing that happened by then.

That’s so frustrating that you’re still getting a faint line. Might be worth calling the EPU if you have their number? Mine said to call if tests were still positive after 3 weeks, although that was because of RPOC concerns which shouldn’t be the case if you had a scan. They might still be able to give some helpful advice though. Hopefully once the HCG drops you’ll see the LH peak quickly

I’ve had a few miscarriages and the first one it took 6-8 weeks for HCG to stop showing on tests. For me the EPU said they weren’t worried as it was slowly decreasing. I think it depends how high your HCG was to start. I got all the way to 9 weeks before my surgical to remove (stopped growing at 6 weeks) so they said it was normal for it to take a while. I think the half life of HCG starts at 36 hours but slows down as it gets lower. It won’t hurt to ring them though if you’re worried.

@Mzalongst Thank you for sharing, I’m sorry you have experienced loss too. I was also 9 weeks and stopped developing at 6 weeks, so sounds like it is within normal range for hcg to clear, and so this has reassured me. My bloods showed 80 > 68 within about 66 hours when I was coming up to 5 weeks post MMC. Do you mind me asking how long until AF arrived for you?

I’ll be honest that particular miscarriage was a while ago now and I don’t remember specifics. I do remember that it took me about 2-3 weeks to ovulate again after I was getting fully negative tests. My next period was really quite strange after as well I remember that (TMI but it was very watery and just not like normal). But the month after that I was fully back to normal with ovulation and cycle.

Pottingsheddays · 01/09/2026 07:25

I got my peak on the CB test this morning which I’m confused about as it’s much earlier in my cycle than usual (CD13 but usually CD15-17) and I haven’t had any signs of ovulation. AF only stopped two days ago so not feeling hopeful that my lining’s built up enough if this actually is ovulation. I thought this month would be less confusing/more like my usual cycle but apparently not! Might try a leftover easy@home later this morning to see what it says.

How’s everyone else getting on?

Gosh it really is so confusing isn’t it. Will be interesting to see what the easy at home tests say. What cycle are you on?

after a very confusing last few days thinking perhaps I didn’t ovulate last week, my temp has increased and natural cycles (and chat gpt) are saying I did ovulate which is a relief. I’m going to stop testing now as it really stressed me and made things confusing. So now I’m 4 DPO. We decided not to wait to TTC so this is our first attempt.

I’ve decided to stop testing completely, monitor CM and DTD every 1/2 days to see what happens 😊. The only test I will do is hcg when I reach 8 weeks if no AF.

Glad you’ve made a decision and hopefully that feels a bit freeing! I find the testing so addictive but also creates so much additional stress xx

@Changechangechange1 I’m even more confused by the easy@home. I thought it looked close to peak (can’t work out how to pivot the photo!) but the premom app says low…the lines look almost the same colour to me and definitely darker than the line Premom counted as peak last month so who knows. This is why I didn’t get on with those tests. Either way will just continue dtd every other day (which is always our strategy so not sure why I bother stressing myself out with the testing).

I waited for my first period after medical management for my MMC so this is the first cycle after that.

That sounds promising on ovulation last week. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

@Springcloud26 that sounds like a sensible plan. Sometimes even just having a plan helps with some of the uncertainty. Hope you’re holding up ok x

Springcloud26 · 01/09/2026 12:17

@Pottingsheddays that is a strong line, even if it’s not quite as dark as the control line - but if you got your peak on CB this morning, it could have started to come down already? I would assume you are about to ovulate! Fingers crossed! x

Agree with OP that’s a really strong line! I’ve only just started using the Premom app to interpret results this month so no idea how it works really, but I’d deff go with the CB result! Are you tracking BBT too? I think I like to test just to confirm I’ve ovulated so it’s not so much about timing DTD x

Posypear · 01/09/2026 14:09

@Pottingsheddays I don't think that app is accurate - I never get lines that dark!
@Springcloud26 that sounds like a sensible plan - your bases will be covered!
@FlyingHighFlyingLow excited for you. I feel like symptom spotting is just so tough!

I'm on holiday and my CB digital ovulation tests aren't working - completely blank screen . Plus DH has food poisoning - so things aren't boding well for this month! I'm still doing temperature tracking and I'm predicted to ovulate on Thursday so will try to dtd once he feels better. There's always something!

Pottingsheddays · 01/09/2026 17:07

Thanks everyone, it’s so good to have a second opinion as I’m overthinking everything at the moment. I’m going to go with the CB result and stop testing for this month.

@Posypear hope you’re having a good holiday apart from the food poisoning. There really always is something, it feels like the timing’s always off!

Springcloud26 · 03/09/2026 06:49

I woke up this morning to some spotting when wiping (dark brown and small amount of bright red), not enough to call it CD1 yet but this could be the start of AF finally!

How is everyone else doing?

Oh fingers crossed it is AF for you! 🤞 not often we say that 😂

I’m 6dpo and all the desire to wait for AF to test has gone and now I’m considering starting on 8dpo 🙈

It’s so hard to wait isn’t it! 😂 Fingers crossed for a positive cycle!

Hope everyone is doing ok! I haven’t had much to update, have been testing using OPKs but still coming up light for me on cycle day 12 at the moment. Hoping starts to darken soon and things get moving🤞
