Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Ah I really hope it works out for you this cycle. Amazing that you conceived quickly before.

thanks, I just downloaded the app. I feel so rubbish at reading the ovulation tests, so it’s cool how the app gives you a numerical reading.

I’ve been mostly “fine” post surgery, I was a complete mess beforehand when I had to wait two weeks to officially confirm the missed miscarriage but i think I’m blocking a lot of the emotional pain out to be honest. I’ve been keeping busy but out of no where I’ll be hit with a big wave of emotion. It’s all just so cruel.

how are you holding up? X

It is really tough and I know what you mean about the waiting. I had a private scan and discovered development had stopped, then had to have another 2 scans with NHS. In the end it happened spontaneously between scans so the second scan confirmed everything had passed.

I’m doing okay thank you, I spoke to my friend about it yesterday, which felt really strange to talk about it with someone other than my partner in ‘real life’ (no-else knows). It’s also helped having TTC to focus on again, I’m such a planner and like to be in control, so being able to use lh strips again is good!

Welcome @Changechangechange1sorry that you had to join this thread 😞

Sorry to hear it wasn’t good news on Friday @Springcloud26. Absolutely everything crossed that you are approaching your peak! 🤞

I’m just starting my fertile window so the only fun part of the cycle 😆 my sister told me she is pregnant yesterday. I would have been 12 weeks today so sad that we could have been only 8 weeks apart 😞 hoping we’ll still get the chance to be pregnant together! I’m back to work after the summer holidays next week so I’m hoping the busy-ness of the start of term will be enough to distract me from the TWW and testing early 🤞

Happymama04 · 24/08/2026 08:12

🤞 for you @Witchfoot!

Witchfoot · 24/08/2026 10:42

Thanks @Happymama04 ❤️

Good luck with this cycle - it'd be so lovely to be at roughly the same stage as your sis. And 💐 because I imagine hearing about her new pregnancy could have triggered a whole range of feelings!

Maybebby · 24/08/2026 11:58

Hi everyone, can I join?

Currently TTC baby number 2! Before I conceived my daughter I had a chemical and then a MMC and now cycle 1 of trying for number 2 going through a chemical.

feeling hopeful at the moment though, and I’m looking forward to my fertile days and getting cracking with trying again!!

my fingers are crossed for you all, hoping for a successful September for everyone🤞✨

Happymama04 · 24/08/2026 12:02

Thanks @Witchfoot, a weird mix of being so happy for them but feeling sad that we could have been so close!

Welcome @Maybebby! Sorry to hear of your loses 😞 how old is your daughter?

Maybebby · 24/08/2026 12:06

@Happymama04 she’s 3! I didn’t think I would ever be ready to try again for a second tbh, I found the whole journey of trying and the losses so difficult but of course, she was worth it all and I would love to give her a sibling. Equally if it doesn’t happen again for me, I am so blessed to have her!

are you trying for number 1 or 2? Sorry if you have said in previous posts already!

Yes I can relate to that! I had multiple loses before my first so I said I was one and done but then my second was a complete surprise 🙊 so trying for number 3, first cycle post ectopic in July!

Maybebby · 24/08/2026 13:05

@Happymama04 I can’t even imagine a surprise pregnancy !! Can I ask how old your 2 are??

sorry to hear about your ectopic. I hope your recovery has been okay. Where are you in your cycle at the moment?

It was crazy considering how difficult it was to conceive my first! My eldest is 4 (starting school next week 🥹) and my youngest is 2.

Thank you, I recovered really well but had the fortunate timing of it being the week before I finished work for summer so have had lots of time to process. I’m on cycle day 11 today, hopefully ovulation will be at the end of the week. Do you track ovulation?

Thank you @Happymama04 the tests have got lighter again so might have been a false start! I will keep going to try and work out what’s happening.

Ah I hope you have some positive news soon so you can share being pregnant at the same time as your sister! I had similiar situation, my sister announced she was pregnant with her 1st when I was 5 weeks, I didn’t say anything as felt I was too early but was looking forward to telling her in a few weeks… unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be, we would have been 4 weeks apart!

Ahh that’s so hard. Seeing someone progress when you aren’t. Hope for both of us that we’ll be pregnant again soon so that will still get to share some of it with our sisters 🤞💗

Ah lovely😊 ah starting school, what a massive milestone that is!!

that’s good you have had a good chunk of time off work to deal with the loss. Fingers crossed for this cycle🤞🤞

I do track ovulation! But only via LH strips, I don’t do temperature aswell. Hoping next week will be ovulation time providing the chemical hasn’t messed things up too much!

@Springcloud26 glad you've been able to share with a friend. Sadly pretty much all my close friends have experienced miscarriages so I've been speaking to them about it. Definitely helps!

I'm on holiday for the next fertile window so that will help with us fitting in dtd around work and toddler commitments.

I went on the Tommy's website - worth everyone looking if you haven't already. It said I have an 80% chance of my next pregnancy being successful, based on the information I submitted, so I'm keeping that in my head going forward. They also suggest tests you can request from the GP.

Oh I’m sorry, it’s such a cruel experience. I’ve confided in family and a friend and it’s been helpful that people understand what’s going on but personally I haven’t really found it helpful to talk about it. Hopefully there was something positive for you sharing with a friend.

agree, glad my husband is keen to try again straight away as it does give a focus. I’m testing like 3 /4 times a day though lol. That’s OTT , right? Bit worried i may have missed ovulation as I didn’t realise it could happen as quickly as 2 weeks after a miscarriage and I started testing a couple days after this and my lines look a bit lighter today

Sending lots of positivity and hope that you’ll be pregnant at the same time as your sister!

I returned to work today after 3 weeks off work and it’s been a really good distraction. Had a few tears but overall was a positive day and time flew!

Sorry to hear @Springcloud26 and @Posypear and welcome to those who have joined - sorry you're in this club!

I'm 7dpo and trying to distract myself to put off testing until the weekend. Probably won't make it that far but I'll try 😅

I’ve also been testing 3 times a day! I’m going to stop and just do once a day, I’m back to my light baseline level so think it was a false start to a rise.

Do you think the waiting and not knowing whether ovulation or AF will arrive first is even worse than the TWW?!

How are the tests looking now @Springcloud26?

I’m CD8 and AF stopped a couple of days ago, and then restarted with a vengeance today…never had that before. Makes me think things are taking longer to go back to normal than I hoped. Assume I’ll ovulate later than normal but we’ll see!

Have you tested yet @FlyingHighFlyingLow? Finding the willpower to hold off is so hard!

I did 🙈

I think I saw a squinter that doesn't show up in photos. DH couldn't see it but I'm not a crier and I started crying when food accidentally got burnt tonight so he thinks I may have been right 😅

@Pottingsheddays They have plateaued around 0.45 so hoping I’m getting ready to ovulate as not dropped back to baseline, but may not be for a few days yet (last cycle I ovulated ~CD 17 and it started rising ~CD 8). So we may be on a similar timeline!

It’s surprising how long it takes to get back to normal isn’t it, I still have lingering hcg from 18th July but must be getting close to below 25 with a vvvvf line.

@Springcloud26 it’s so confusing not knowing where in your cycle you are. Hope you get your peak soon x

Posypear · 27/08/2026 06:38

@FlyingHighFlyingLow fingers crossed! Keep us updated!
We always try to do sperm meets egg method and when we've done it properly we've got pregnant every cycle but it's a lot! Can't believe it's starting all over again today as I'm on CD8. Emotionally I could do with a break but I'm 36 so no time! I've got a GP appointment in a couple of weeks to discuss some tests and I've finished my course of antibiotics for BV so things are in motion.

Happymama04 · 27/08/2026 07:49

Hope everyone is doing ok! Fingers crossed for you @FlyingHighFlyingLow.

Do you guys use ovulation strips? I find them soo frustrating, they make me mad 😂 I’m on CD14 and was hoping to have had my peak by now. I know it’s not the strips that’s the problem it’s just the timing but I find it annoying having to test like 3 times a day. I think I might use the clear blue digital ones if I’m out this month, but they’re so expensive! I used them regularly when TTC my first and I just like the obviousness of smiley faces rather than interpreting lines!
