Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Exactly - plus with the difference in cycle length I know my brain couldn't leave it. So if I didnt test LH I'd get to day 24 and think I'm 10dpo if its a 28 day one I'll take a test when I literally might be 6dpo and I end up more stressed from not knowing!

@FlyingHighFlyingLow @Witchfoot I’m exactly the same, and as I haven’t been able to test, my brain has worked extra hard to try and understand where I am in the cycle -symptom spotting has gone into overdrive! 😂

Hope you are feeling better after a break from it all @FlyingHighFlyingLow

I’m going to try not to test yet, (again) cause I really feel like I’m about to start af, which I did feel the same last month so I’m praying and crossing my fingers as my spotting has gone back to clear/ white. 5dpo! I’d be a woman on the edge if I started that soon @fluffycauliflowers

im glad I’ve found this thread girls, it’s so hard not to sound crazy when you speak to people who aren’t ttc!

@Lost2222 It’s so helpful to share thoughts and experiences for support. I might wait longer to test now, I think with hcg still in my system from last time it might confuse me more to test again soon. I’m basically behaving like I’m pregnant anyway with what I’m eating and drinking so if I can wait and see if AF arrives in next 7-10days and then test I might get a clearer answer. But I know I won’t be strong enough to hold on that long!

It’s been about 3 and a half weeks since main bleeding of MC and I still have a faint line…

When I started getting cramping at what I think is 6 DPO I thought it might be too early for implantation so asked Chat GPT to walk me through biologically what is happening at every DPO 😊. It did say implantation is a process and may take a couple of days to ‘embed’ fully.

I’ve definitely been overthinking! And I know what you mean about having nothing to do - I make sure I add a few notes to the Flo app every day to track digestion, mood, CM, even if there isn’t much to say!

You sound just like me! At least first half of the cycle we can busy our selves with ovulation strips and the deed!

I reallyyyy want to be more chilled out this time. I’ve had two babies and before my first had multiple early loses so I’ve always been crazily obsessive with testing. With my ectopic last month I was the same, obsessive over lines for 2 weeks. It completely stressed me out and it didn’t tell me anything was wrong so I really hope this time I can wait until at least 12dpo and then if I do get a positive to just stop testing! Much easier said than done but I really hope I can do it 🤞

@Happymama04 it’s so tempting to keep testing isn’t it! I’m also trying to tell myself to relax a little and see what happens, but it’s not easy!

Does anyone just think they can tell whether they are pregnant or not ? I knew I was last cycle and when I got pregnant with my first but definitely don't feel pregnant this cycle! 7DPO but not feeling hopeful.

Yes, I know what you mean. I’ve been pregnant 3 times now and this time I sort of think I am. But I have never felt this desperation to be pregnant before - it’s def due to the recent MC.
I think it’s too early for me to be able to actually tell (6dpo) but I just sort of feel I am/will be. It’s probably wishful thinking or delusion!
I did test this morning and I don’t think I can see anything… but ofc it’s too early to be testing!

I’ve only been pregnant once (last cycle) and wasn’t hopeful when I tested, just because I didn’t think we’d be so lucky for it to happen so soon after starting properly tracking.

When I looked back, I think I had noticed implantation symptoms at 10 DPO and increased discharge. Now I am 11 DPO and feel / hope I am because had similar pains at 6 DPO and increased discharge around the same time. But again could be wishful thinking!

I definetly have known everytime I was pregnant. We dtd last night and it made me bleed a bit again.. also have done a test just now (so not fmu) and it was negative so think I’m out. Not sure what all this stop start bleeding is about I’m assuming it’s because the mc messed my cycle up. I’m due on Saturday apparently going off ovulation which was late and was first one since mc. I’m absolutely gutted, it’s so hard with my partners job ect to get the timing and right and we managed to do that this month and it’s not worked, especially when your supposed to be more fertile after a mc.
I hope some of you ladies fare better this month!

Posypear · 13/08/2026 14:10

@Lost2222 sorry to hear you're not feeling positive either! We also struggle to fit in dtd around DH's job. It's so stressful - I've said you just have to make it work going forward. We have a toddler too so time is limited!

@Springcloud26 and @fluffycauliflowers these a good signs! Hopefully your gut is right!

Well, you’re not out until you’re out so hopefully you’ll get a pleasant surprise.
If not, we go again 🫡

You raise an interesting point as well - I have also heard the “you’re more fertile after a MC” as well. Is this backed up by science? Or anecdotal? I’m really interested in how long that extra fertile period lasts?

Clinging to any hope!

I did a lot of research (googling) this myself and honestly couldn’t find any actual evidence to support the “more fertile after a miscarriage”. Some research shows higher fertility and some shows lower. I personally have had 3 miscarriages and it took me ages to conceive in between each one.

Lost2222 · 13/08/2026 19:11

@fluffycauliflowers apparantly it’s for three months, but I’m not convinced, like @Mzalongst says it’s all very sceptical.

anyway girls I’m officially out and taking today as cd1.. bleeding properly now so onto the next one! Absolutely gutted and now stressing over partners work schedule ect!

I hope you all have more luck. Is anyone else roughly cd1? @Posypear it’s sure a nightmare trying to dtd with conflicting schedules! Me and my partner currently live separately in two rented houses, it’s such a waste of money but we didn’t want to move his daughter or mine to a new school so late in the year! Viewing a house Monday so fingers crossed we get it!

im gonna have a cry tonight and then put my big girl pants on and try not to think about it for a week, then start opks

Pottingsheddays · 13/08/2026 19:24

Sorry to hear that @Lost2222 - hope you can do something nice for yourself this evening and just feel all the feelings. Fingers crossed for the house as well, that sounds like something to hopefully look forward to.

I woke up with terrible AF style cramps in the night (I never usually have them in the night) but they stopped by mid-morning and no bleeding, so not sure what’s going on. I was hoping today would be CD1 and it would almost be OPK time again

Springcloud26 · 13/08/2026 19:38

I’m sorry @Lost2222, be kind to yourself. I hope the house viewing goes well on Monday, I have my fingers crossed for you!

Springcloud26 · 14/08/2026 06:12

I did another test this morning at 12 DPO, a much fainter line than Tuesday so old hcg definitely clearing now but still no idea if there’s a new pregnancy or not. I might just wait a week and see if AF arrives and if not will test again. By then it should show a darker line than today if I am.

OP posts:
Posypear · 14/08/2026 06:34

@Lost2222 sorry to hear that. Sounds like a stressful time - hope the viewing goes well!
@Springcloud26 that sounds sensible. So tricky when our bodies are just returning to normal so we don't know what to expect.

Happymama04 · 14/08/2026 07:45

Sorry that AF arrived @Lost2222💔 hope you’re feeling ok today 💗

Ah that’s so hard @Springcloud26not knowing what’s going on but definitely seems sensible to leave it until next week!

Happymama04 · 14/08/2026 07:46

I think this is the one and only time I’ve been happy to wake up to AF this morning! That means my cycle is back after my surgery for the ruptured ectopic and I’m officially back in the game 🥳 one tube lighter so I need to be prepared for it taking a while but 🤞 it won’t be ages

Witchfoot · 14/08/2026 08:04

Ahh, good to hear that things are getting back to normal for you @Happymama04! Fingers crossed you have some luck soon 🤞

Sorry you still don't have clarity on what's going on @Springcloud26, that's tough. Do you have nice weekend plans to take your mind off the waiting a bit?

Pottingsheddays · 14/08/2026 08:45

The waiting is really tough @Springcloud26, hope you get some clarity soon. And hope you have some nice weekend plans to take your mind off things.

Glad things are getting back to normal for you @Happymama04 I think this might be the first TTC Mumsnet thread I’ve seen where some of us are happy to see AF return! Shows how much of a journey it is TTC after loss.

I have days where I feel more unhinged about it all than others, today my hair gel made me think of EWCM, so can safely say my brain is still obsessed with TTC even if we’re taking a pause atm

Springcloud26 · 14/08/2026 11:32

Thank you @Posypear @Happymama04 @Witchfoot @Pottingsheddays it’s going to be a long week, although whatever happens, there’s always more waiting isn’t there!

Quiet weekend planned but have some decorating I want to do!

Hope everyone is doing well?

Does anyone else enjoy listening to podcasts? I like to listen when walking the dog! I found a fertility one; “Don’t tell me to relax” and listened to a couple of episodes, it’s quite interesting. If anyone has any other recommendations? I usually like motivational, live better, health ones but also comedy.

Hiya. I love The Rest is Entertainment and also Elis and John 😊

I tested this morning at 8dpo and I thiiink I can see the faintest whisper of a line. But it may be line eyes and I don’t mind being told that! What do you think?

I’m really enjoying British Scandal at the moment - just listened to the season about the man who faked his death kayaking. Someone recommended Worst Girl Gang Ever the other day (it’s about fertility and pregnancy loss). Haven’t tried it yet as I decided it’s a bit too close to home right now but might be helpful for others.

@fluffycauliflowers - keeping my fingers crossed for you. I have the opposite of line eyes (I can never see anything on tests when people ask for feedback, or on my own!) but hopefully tomorrow will be clearer. Will you manage to hold off for FMU tomorrow? It’s so tempting to test again once you see a potential line!
