Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Welcome @tabbycatslave of
course you can join! The date was really to help people know it was a recent thread, I kept coming across old ones that were no longer active, when I was looking for support 😊

I’m very sorry you are going through a loss, and it’s okay to feel sad even though it was early.

I think taking your first day of proper flow as CD1 is right, rather than the spotting. Do you track ovulation?

I also understand your feelings of being anxious if you conceive again, my MMC was my first too at 39 and I know I will worry. I think we can only take it one day at a time and know that many who have early losses go on to have healthy babies.

Be kind to yourself, sending a big hug ❤️

Thank you ❤️. I think I ovulate around CD12 (26 day cycle) judging from LH strips, so not too long to wait and see.

I think this month, if successful, I might just keep to myself for a little longer - found telling DP, after he'd already started planning out when to purchase prams etc, so horrible. Although perhaps he will have learnt not to get so excited.

This thread is really comforting, thank you for making it!

We were the same, so excited after getting the positive test and then even though it’s early, you can’t help but plan and think ahead. I think that was a large part of the grief and sadness for me, planning and getting excited for a future that was then taken away.

I am trying not to think about it, it's a gut punch :(.

Hey ladies. Saw my GP about some tests following my 2 early miscarriages in a row. She's referred me to get blood tests for the things recommended on the Tommy's website. I forgot to ask about baby aspirin and progesterone too which is annoying! We'll see how it all goes.

How's everyone else going?

Pottingsheddays · 08/09/2026 20:50

That’s good that she’s referred you @Posypear Do you mind me asking which tests she’s ordered? I’m having my bloods done on Fri but my GP would only do vit D, thyroid and progesterone, but I know there are others Tommys recommends.

I’m around 6DPO and trying to stay busy. Weirdly I’ve had a metallic taste in my mouth since the miscarriage treatment which I hadn’t had since the early weeks of pregnancy (it was my first sign at 9DPO last time). So I keep thinking ooh I’ve got the metallic taste and then remembering I’ve had it for weeks! Think my progesterone level must just be out of whack which doesn’t bode well.

How’s everyone else getting on?

Happymama04 · 08/09/2026 21:25

That’s great @Posypear. I was prescribed baby aspirin in my first pregnancy due to multiple loses but I didn’t start taking it until 12 weeks.

i’m 11dpo and BFN so thinking I’m out. Pretty disheartened this morning as I felt really good ablut this cycle. But need to remember I’m one tube down so my odds are even lower than usual!

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Springcloud26 · 09/09/2026 08:01

I’m glad you got your referral @Posypear I hope you get some answers soon!

I hope the next couple of days go quickly for you @Pottingsheddays do you know when you might test?

@Happymama04 hope you’re feeling okay, it may still be too early? I can’t remember if you said if you knew which side you might have ovulated on this cycle?

I’m on CD 5 and coming to end of AF. I’ve already started CB advanced to ensure if I do ovulate early, I catch the start of estrogen rising, but doing every other day for now to save tests! As soon as I get high will move to once a day and start LH strips alongside it. I’m pretty disappointed with myself that if I did ovulate, I completely missed the chance as we didn’t dtd in the 2 weeks it may have happened, because I thought I was in tww. Silly, I know, as had no idea what was happening this cycle and couldn’t use LH strips.

I hope to get results of hcg and thyroid function back today.

@Pottingsheddays it was those plus full bloods for anaemia, coeliac disease and clotting problems. Mine are on Friday too so I'll keep you posted - hope yours go okay too!
She did also say maybe you should be dtd more than just around ovulation - as testing for LH etc isn't that accurate but I've only tried to get pregnant 5 times in my life and I've been pregnant 3 of those times so I don't think that's our issue! I'm also 6 DPO but not feeling positive this month as DH was ill over the most important days frustratingly. Fingers crossed for us both!
@Happymama04 sorry to hear this. Hopefully the next cycle is the one ! Interesting you only took it from 12 weeks - is there a reason why? I assumed you needed it most at the early stages?

@Springcloud26 thank you - hope you get some answers too!

Pottingsheddays · 09/09/2026 10:21

Thanks @Posypear that’s helpful to know. I might try to get them to add the clotting tests on Friday as that’s the one that might give new info. I’m in a really similar position - pregnant 3 out of the 5 times we’ve tried, so ovulation doesn’t seem to be an issue but feel like there might be something else going on. I also had some bleeding in the first few weeks of my pregnancy with DC1 but no one seemed that fussed as scans were fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for you this cycle!

@Springcloud26 sounds like you’re doing everything you can to catch the surge. Fingers crossed the waiting isn’t as long this month.

I’m planning to test on Friday (9DPO) just in case I can ask the GP about whether they recommend starting progesterone or anything else immediately depending on the bloods. Not feeling hopeful though as our timing wasn’t amazing and my cycle still isn’t back to usual timings.

@Happymama04 - hope you’re feeling alright. It must be hard knowing the chances are a bit lower, but it may still just be too early (says the mad person planning to test at 9DPO…)

tabbycatslave · 09/09/2026 10:22

I'm also on CD5 now post chemical, bleeding seems to have stopped and my LH is back down to my normal baseline. Clearblue digital ovulation thing showing a big fat O. Hope everything is just back to normal this month.

I don't know if there's anything I can do now? I'm taking a prenatal still... was vaguely thinking of baby aspirin, but maybe it's better to see if this happens again so I have more data.

@posypear you've done brilliantly getting a referral! Might steal your tactics if needed.

@Happymama04 fingers crossed for you - there's still a chance (how sure are you of ov dates?) but maybe it's better to wait for AF rather than keep testing... not that I would ever follow that advice myself.

Posypear · 09/09/2026 10:49

@tabbycatslave if you go on the Tommy's website here there's some information about what you can ask for. We're in our right to ask so worth a try!

https://www.tommys.org/baby-loss-support/miscarriage-information-and-support/tests-and-treatments-after-miscarriage/your-care-after-1-or-2-miscarriages

After both my chemicals my cycles were basically the same but ovulation was just delayed by 1 day so hopefully you have the same experience!

@Pottingsheddays sounds like we are pretty much in the same boat! The GP did say 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage so having 2 , although upsetting wasn't worrying so I'm clinging on to this !

Your care after 1 or 2 miscarriages

If you have had 1 or 2 early miscarriages, it is unlikely that you will be referred to a specialist miscarriage clinic. But there is support available.

Thanks everyone, I’m pretty sure of ovulation date as I track BBT. 12dpo and still BFN. Googling stories of later bfp to cling onto hope 😅 I didn’t get it until 14dpo last time but I think that was to do with it being ectopic. I was pretty convinced I ovulated from the side I do have a tube but i know that monthly odds are pretty low anyway.

@Posypeari thought the same, I was tempted to take it without asking dr as I’d had 3 chemicals but I was too scared haha. So when I had my midwife appt they referred me to a consultant because of the chemicals and then I had that appt at 12 weeks where she told me to take aspirin until 36 weeks. Obviously didn’t help with the early loses though because I was much further beyond that point! I didn’t take it in my second successful pregnancy either.

Did you get your results @Springcloud26?

Changechangechange1 · 10/09/2026 05:56

AF arrived for me yesterday :( it’s my first period since the MMC and I was pretty confident we covered the peak and high fertility days so it’s really disheartening. Symptom spotting is just torture but don’t know how to stop! Ah it’s just so shit isn’t it. I’m sorry to moan. I think I need some chocolate today! Hope everyone else is doing ok x

I did, HCG is down to 8 so they are happy it’s near negative now and no more tests needed. TSH is also down to 3.8 so in normal range now too 😊

It’s so exhausting going through all the ups and downs every month with symptom spotting and trying to time things well @Changechangechange1. Hope you’re feeling ok today - you’ll need lots of chocolate for the next few days.

I told myself I wouldn’t symptom spot this month as I know it’s pointless but it’s impossible not to when you’re so aware of your body. No idea how to stop it - I’m 8DPO and looking out for every sign.

That’s good news on the HCG test @Springcloud26 - hope that feels like a weight off your mind?

Hey girls. Sorry for the silence, had a really bad couple of weeks with work and our neighbours from hell! Just wanted to let you all know that AF was due today, and I’ve been getting positive pregnancy tests since Sunday! They’re so much darker than with my loss a few weeks ago and my hypremsis has already started to creep its way in 🤢but I am so grateful! Just wanted to give you all hope that it can happen after a loss, I felt utter despair for weeks, but we only managed to dtd twice in this months window and it must have worked! I wish you all so much luck and positivity. I know how hard it can be truely. X

I tested this morning at 9DPO and I’m sure there’s a vfl there. Not clear enough to say BFP but enough to mean I’ll test again tomorrow. Feels like more waiting and uncertainty but I guess that’s just TTC. Had my bloods done and the nurse said to book a GP appt for next Fri to discuss the progesterone result and whether I need a prescription. So will see what it’s all looking like on Monday and then book if tests are positive. Trying not to get my hopes up too much.

How did your appointment go today @Posypear?
