Does anyone have experience of this? Hubby has just had it done and we are nervously awaiting the outcome!

welshlinz - todays the day!! Hooray!! How did you sleep last night (with all the excitement and the new puppy??)
You have got my mind racing now because I gave had sharp pains on right side of lower abdomen at various times recently (thought it was ov - then implantation - now prob af!) weird though because have only been like this for the last few months.

PM - I think Im getting a bit paranoid now and looking for things that (hopefully) arent wrong! My cycles have been 30, 27, 29, 32 aand 27 this month (AF has just arrived! )so there hasnt been huge variation. Im also fairly sure I ov'd on cd15 this month (according to Persona) but have no idea if I did in the previous months. Also not sure what my lp has been - do you count that from day of ov to first day of AF?

Anyway my dh told me last night that he is throughly fed up of ttc as he feels it is taking over our lives - thats all we think and talk about - and im far too obsessed! he doesnt want to hear another word about it!
Funny thing is though - I hardly ever mention it to him (cos i know he thinks Im obsessed) and get most of it out of my system by talking to you lot everyday!

terrier141 · 11/07/2008 13:13

Just put my AF into Fertility Friend - and they tell me that my cycle was 26 days with an 11 day LP - is that okay?? im 32 (nearly 33 - not ancient I know!) and they now say fertility for men sig decreases after 35 (dh is 36!) - was so much easier having my other 2 dc's - didnt even try really!

OP posts:
welshlinz · 11/07/2008 13:17

hi, slept great last night actually terrier lol. I had a bath in epsom salts before bed cos its a natural sedative for the body so helps me sleep ( otherwise I'd be up all nite worrying ! ) Puppy slept through which was great. Woke at 6 to have a whine but went back off ( puppy i mean, not me )

Clock watching now. DH won't get out of the bloody bath and he's not even packed his overnight bag yet !! He's always like this whereas I'm ultra organised so I have to bite my lip sometimes.

terrier, you say you've only started noticing this sharp pain recently, could that be because you're more aware of your cycle etc since starting ttc ? I no I've noticed loads more pains etc since charting my cycle. Do you have any other symptoms of PCOS aswell ?

btw AF has arrived this morning 2 days early so must be on a 26 day cycle and not 28 as I first thought !

terrier141 · 11/07/2008 16:13

welshlinz- I dont really know anything about PCOS - so cant say about symptoms of that - but think you are right - I am noticing every ache, pain, feeling - Im much more aware of my body since ttc.

Lol at your af turning up 2 days early - we are exactly in tune at the moment then! - Just when we thought we knew where we were with our cycles - they decide to trick us! I guess that means you may miss your 1st cycle ttc (unless you can persuade your dh to recover sooner!)?

Hope it all goes well today xx

pinkmook · 11/07/2008 17:39

terrier - all I know is the closer to 14 days your LP is the better. You seem to have pretty regular cycles so I wouldn't think there was anything to worry about TBH.

Linz - Oh My God how exciting! Lots and lots of luck for the Op.

KatieDD - where are you???!

welshlinz · 11/07/2008 19:26

hi girls, i'm soooooo worried right now. Left DH in the hospital at 4.40 as DD was desperate to leave and didn't want to make her suspect anything. He was due down to theatre at 5pm and the nurse said she'd ring as soon as he was out. It's now 7.23 and still no word and I'm getting stressed out. Really wish I'd stayed with him now so I could be there when he comes round. At least I'd be kept updated what was happening !!!!

terrier, I think you're right about prob leaving ttc this month. I don't feel a mad rush at the mo to get started which is strange as I thought I would but i'm happy to leave it till next month I think to make sure he's fully recovered. Mind you, easy to say now but prob when I know I'm ovulating I'll be pestering

Wish the bloody hospital would just ring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

welshlinz · 11/07/2008 20:38

just an update. The hospital have rang to say he's comfortable but still really groggy after the anaesthetic. Feel a lot better now as she said the op was really successful with no complications xx

sharkey1 · 11/07/2008 22:17

just some words of support, my fiance had a reversal in june 2006 after 7 years and he was 36 years old at the time. we had a consultation beforehand and were told that even if the op was a success, because of my age (i was 36 aswell) that we may still have trouble conceiving. we gave birth to a beautiful son last so as far as we are concerned NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!!!!!

sharkey1 · 11/07/2008 22:19

just wondered, is it true that you can eat certain foods to predict the sex of your baby? we would love a girl!!! anyone got any views on it?

pinkmook · 12/07/2008 14:38

Linz - hope the DH is OK

Sharkey - sorry got no idea but Hi!

welshlinz · 12/07/2008 16:38

hi, yes DH is back home now in his fetching support strap. Feel so sorry for him as he's completely black all over down there ( including his little man ). Just sleeping all the time so I'm bored at the mo x

Sharkey, great to hear your story. Hopefully we can all add to the list of successes aswell.

Consultant went to see him this morning and said he had to cut quite a bit up from where he anticipated to find the action but joined together fine and he was very happy with the outcome.

Mum and dad have just been to visit and we were feebly lying about him having a bad back so in the end DH just came out and told them the truth. Weren't that happy really which has shocked me but I suppose it was a shock and they are just worried after the horror story of DDs birth lol

KatieDD · 13/07/2008 18:33

Sharkey -pickyourbabysgender.com/?hop=mpb0220

Good news Linz, glad it all went well. Give him a week or so before you jump on him eh ?

terrier141 · 14/07/2008 09:50

katiedd - good to see you back - hope you are well.

Welshlinz - hows your dh now? Cant believe you caved in and told people so soon! lol! Did it upset you that they werent as excited as you? They will come around Im sure. Hows that pup? My dh has just agreed to us having another dog - he wants a springer pup - im more for having a slightly older rescue dog. Pros and cons with both I guess - Im looking though! We did a deal - i get a dog as long as he can have a motorbike when we have a bit more money!

pinkmook - how are things with you? Is it this week you have your scan? x

OP posts:
welshlinz · 14/07/2008 16:41

hi, DH is ok but really bruised and swollen. Were either of your hubbys completely black down there as we are wondering if he has internal bleeding !!

The dog is fine terrier, she's so cute Thats great news that you're getting a new one too. we looked into both puppy and rescue but couldn't find any female springers in the rescue homes so ended up getting the pup instead. She's really well behaved so can't grumble.

terrier, I was disappointed with the reactions I got when we told but I kind of knew my parents would react like that until they got used to the idea. They are just petrified of the birth part but I've had chance to explain the c-section and precautions the docs will be taking now so they are coming round slowly. DHs parents were happy so we'll just wait and see now if anything happens.

2 more friends announced pregnancies this weekend aswell

pinkmook · 14/07/2008 19:11

Hi Girls - Yes scan was today - went fine, tubes all open, no cysts on ovaries, the sonographer said the consultant would discuss the results further with me but there did not appear to be any "structural" problems. It hurt a bit, and i cramped and bled a bit after (still bleeding now) but it was like medium period pains with a couple of sharp ones when they did it.

There may be hormonal issues but nothing major hopefully.

Linz - yes DH was totally black after op - I actually have photos that I wish I could post just to reassure you! His willy was completely black and he was even bruised right up his stomach where they had messed with the tubes as well as totally black and massively swollen balls that went through several colour changes from black to purple, to red etc etc over the following weeks!!!

Linz - its hard when people announce PG's - it feels like EVERYONE is PG at the moment to me. I had to sit in the antenatal bit for my scan app this morn, RIGHT NEXT to the scan machine where people went to collect there scan photos after their baby scans watching all those happy PG couples was a bit miserable but hopefully it will be us soon!

When does your DH have his first semen anlysis? xxx

pinkmook · 14/07/2008 19:12

Doh spelling their not there scan photos

welshlinz · 14/07/2008 19:52

hi, pink, thats great news about your scan. You can relax again now that that's over with. Did they use an implement that resembles a turkey baster to scan you with ? If so, I bled for a bit after mine too. Not pleasant x

DH has his first semen test in 6 weeks so fingers crossed. I have to ask pink, how on earth did your DH manage it after 2 days ??!!

thanks so much for reassuring me about the bruising. I thought it was normal but then started reading too much info on the internet and convinced myself he was rupturing or something !!

terrier141 · 15/07/2008 07:24

pinkmook - thats fab news! Im really pleased for you - it must be a huge relief!

Linz- exactly like pm's dh - my dh was in a hell of a mess afterwards - colour changes too and absolutely massive! I felt really sorry for him - it doesnt last too long though - think it was looking fairly normal after about 7-10 days.

Spent the whole day yesterday searching rescue pages - not just for springers - but anything that was good with cats and kids! Couldnt find anything. Dh convinced me its better to get a puppy that we can socialise with the kids and cats - so Im going to see a springer bitch today! She's 11 weeks - they were keeping her and 1 brother until the mans wife announced she was PREGNANT! They sold the boy yesterday but this little girl is left! Havent told the kids - Im hoping to take it to school when I pick them up! Only thing is the man has 2 Border terriers for sale as well (thats what my 14 year old dog is!) and I might be tempted to have one of those instead as they are not so mad! DH has made me promise I'll get the Springer!
At least it will take my mind of ttc so obsessively for a bit!

OP posts:
welshlinz · 15/07/2008 10:28

thats fab terrier, she'll be spoilt if she's anything like mine. DH managed to hobble outside yesterday to sit in the garden and my older springer, jumped up and caught him straight in the nuts !! Think thats set him back a day or so now as he's in agony again.

You will have to let us no later what you've chosen , springer or border terrier x

terrier141 · 15/07/2008 12:22

welshlinz - im after some advice! Are your dogs crate trained - or where do they sleep at night? Have never crate trained a dog before but have heard its the best way to minimise destruction! Its a very long time since I a have had a puppy - and I remember the 6 months of total choas our house endured when we had the last springer pup when I still lived at home! I will be home most of the time though - so its only really the night time Im bothered about. My border never chewed anything - but springers are crazy! Must be insane!

OP posts:
welshlinz · 15/07/2008 13:22

hi terrier, both our dogs sleep outside in a kennel which has a run attached. I let them in during the day when I keep an eye on them but otherwise, they are outside. If I let our puppy sleep inside she would destroy everything !!!
Crate training is quite easy aswell I believe as it's based on the same principle. At night try a hot water bottle wrapped in one of your t-shirts so she can smell your scent and also a radio on low can help so they don't get too frightened. Be prepared for the howling on the first night though lol but don't give in and go downstairs or she'll do it all the more !
good luck x

pinkmook · 15/07/2008 17:49

Thanks Terrier it is a relief.

Glad you are reassured linz!

"I have to ask pink, how on earth did your DH manage it after 2 days ??!!"- Very gingerly, he was quite excited so over quite quick - like 60 seconds quick! LOL

Wonder where KatieDD is? Hope you are OK Katie if you are about x

KatieDD · 15/07/2008 21:13

Hi - am still around and married by a thread lol
Another bump has appeared at school am so jealous it's not funny.
Having said that my cycle seems to have settled down now so at least once the reversal has been done I know roughly when to get jiggy.
Am seriously considering a puppy myself come September I shall be home alone

Thomcat · 15/07/2008 21:16

Hi girls, sorry to but in but wanted to ask you to sum up for me the success rate? My BF has a BF who has had a vasectomy. He has 2 children, she's never had any. He's mid 40's, she's late 30's/ He's not prepapred to have a reversal for a couple of years yet. She'll start pushing f=him for one in a few months time I think. what are her chances of getting pregnant by him do you think?

welshlinz · 15/07/2008 21:31

hi thomcat, I was told the chances go down as you get older ( I think over 35 but not sure ) and also it's a lower success rate the amount of years since the op was performed. If the vasectomy was done over 5 years ago this will lower the success aswell. Still, thats not to say it won't happen after a reversal and we're all waiting for our first success story on this thread so keep us posted how she gets on.
