Lastbox ...so, are we going to do this fertility spell? I am really tempted to give it a go

sesqal I loved mama mia, it was such a feel good movie. It makes me want to go on holiday (To Greece. With my girlfriends!)

lottie it would be great if your GP could arrange those initial tests, when will you get an answer? Could you have the tests done more cheaply elsewhere and then start treatment at the Lister?

I know what you mean about your friend who is starting ttc. I am exactly the same with a good friend who intends to start ttc soon and assumes it will happen right away - even planning how her & I will go shopping for her maternity clothes together. Despite her knowing our whole history! It takes every shred of my will power not to lose my temper. Instead I smile sweetly and say: 'just take it a day at a time...' I don't have any words of advise but know exactly how you feel.

The holiday to the cribbean sounds great though!

I don't know what's going on with me!!!! I'm almost beginning to think that I DID ovulate when FF said I did, but then why all the EWCM???? I expected my temps to drop back to pre-O range when I got back from my trip, but they're still pretty high - although they don't seem high enough to suggest pregnancy. The one good thing about it all though would be that I'd now be 10dpo with AF due tomorrow and I've got no spotting!!! Oh, well, I guess we'll see what happens. i bought some Persona sticks today, so maybe they'll give me a clue.

lottie I think I'll wait and see how your spell turns out! no pressure there! Where in the Caribbean are you going? That's great that your GP is so helpful.

And I know how you guys feel about friends and pregnancy. I know this girl - I'm not sure I'd call her my friend, but we've got mutual friends - and she knows my situation and they're just starting TTC. She hasn't even said very much about it and it STILL gets my back up!

Ses I thought you said you felt really 'Campy' after seeing Mama Mia - LOL - like it's super cheesy or something Also, temps taken in the middle of the day don't mean anything - so don't drive yourself crazy with them! (even though we all do it!)

SesQal · 02/08/2008 12:20

Lol at 'campy'! It was that too!

Temp this morning was 36.62 so back up from yesterday which was 36.42! Woke up feeling sure AF would arrive but now not feeling quite so full of AF symptoms!
Expecting it in next day or two...

It's raining here today and we're meant to be at BBQ this afternoon!

Am v at Carribean! We've not had a holiday this year except for wkend in Ireland as we were expecting to move house but it fell through. We may look at something last minute in September if we can

Hi everyone! Well, we are camping at the moment, and it was freezing and wet last night!! We have popped home because we have a little girls birthday party to go to today, and then we go back to the campsite tomorrow.

I do have a question for you all (as always!). Does the environmental temperature affect your BBT? I am 8DPO today if FF is accurate, and my temp this morning was 36.56° (woke an hour early, FF says this would be 36.65° if I had woken at usual time), but the tent was really cold last night. Does this stand for today's temp, or have I stuffed things up going camping?

Could anyone look at my chart and say what you think?

lottie well done! If you don't ask, you don't get.

lastbox we used persona to conceive DD1 (accidently) and DD2(on purpose) - it was great. I was chuffed when my little accident became DD1 - I was desperate to TTC.

Seqal it's not over till it's over!!

Evening lovely temping ladies - I admit to a bit of lurking (to keep a check on that spell working lottie ) but also just wanted to pop in to offer some reassurance and to say I absolutely understand some of the feelings you are all experiencing as they are all still very vivid for me (hope that does not sound patonising xxx)

lottie may remember but my DH and I were TTC for 20 months solid and we had begun the assisted conception route (I was 34 at the time) - I am the ultimate cliche - had my first proper consult with the fertility specialist on May 9th - little did I know I was already pg. BFP on May 17th. So many people told me this would happen and I was full of sarcasm about it. I honestly do not know why it happened that month instead of any other except I know my own health was not in tip top condition for a good part of the first year we were TTC.

Lottie may also remember that I am an alternative therapy freak as it has always come up trumps for me when conventional medicine has failed me. Anyway I literally tried everything between February and April 07 including the spell! Something must have worked! The things I tried (as well as temping and BD of course!!!) filled an A4 sheet .

Finally my best friend announced to me she was TTC in Feb 07 and though she knew our situation and was really lovely about it I felt exactly how you described lbot and lottie - Of course the inevitable happened and she got pg the first month - I cried for days and felt so guilty as I should have been happy for her. Anyway - there is a point to this and I will get there - I def think one of the things that really helped me was flower essences - I started taking them in April and "felt" much more relaxed and less bitter, maybe it was psychosematic but I am sure they made a diff. I began taking flower essence mixture morning and evening after reading this on MN -I mixed up my own solution and started straight in with both ingredients and also added in White Chestnut essence too when I found this website Anyway they certainly cannot harm your chances.

lottie - thanks for asking - motherhood is treating me really well - as it will all of you I have absolute faith. One thing I can say - when you have TTC for while and it has been hard you never take it for granted and I do think the whole experience is extra special.

Anyway - sorry to thread crash and ramble but so want to see a load of BFPs so BD lots (sorry - I know - groan - but DH and I did manage 4 nights in a row over OV the month we took - after 20 months that was a superhuman effort as we had become sooo despondent!!) Also - dont think because one of you gets a BFP that is the quota for the month (I admit to feeling a bit like that last year ) - there ended up being three of us temp buddies getting BFPs last May so sometimes there are bumper crops.

love, luck and badydust to all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

hiya lottie
Well - the assisted conception route is a bumpy road isn't it When TTC I had been going to the GP for 7 months and finally got a good one (there are about 10 gps at my surgery and they all said different things!) anyway 2 I saw completely dismissed me telling me to stop charting and stop stressing SO unhelpful. Then finally I got a good one and he did all our tests (progesterone tests, sperm analysis etc) and then referred us to the local hospital as luckily there is really good female fertility specialist there. We had one consult (which I paid for to fast track - £75 I think?) and I really liked her - very on it and pro-active, she looked at my charts and did not belittle our efforts. She did private and NHS at the hospital and she booked me in for a HSG and said we would get one free go at IVF on the NHS as neither of us had any children already. Although I was not sure of the waiting list etc so I also sent off the paperwork to ARGC - we had decided to try them as we had a friend in very similar circumstances who went there and had a good/positive experience. Despite all the bad press for ARGC their stats are really good for the UK.

Sounds like you had a lovely day out - gosh have not been to CG for yonks - could really fancy a good mooch around the shops there

Happy chart spotting

Thanks so much for the lovely post, seaside. We haven't been trying that long in the grand scheme of things, but I'm already much more sensitive about the whole process. Last week my mom and I went to visit my Nan a few times - she lives in a development that has a community pool and 'all the ladies' meet during the day to talk/gossip, etc. My mom's just retired so she's been spending lots of time there lately. There's this younger woman - she's about 43 and she's been going through AC. Before I arrived, she had gone through an IVF cycle. When I got there, she was walking down the street and my mom pulled up next to her - I kept telling my mom, Please don't ask her how it went, please don't! In the end, the poor girl just blurted out It didn't work. That was the first time I had seen her in my entire life and my heart just broke for her Likewise, seeing a friend who just got pregnant accidnetally/on purpose going through hell for her first, and now being flippant about it is really really making me So I guess I've got a new perspective on the whole thing!

lou poor you! Camping sounded horrendous I'm sure you're glad to be back in your own bed tonight!

So, okay...who wants to take a look at my chart click here I think I probably ovulated yesterday - but again, neg OPK. What do you guys think?

lastboxoftampons · 03/08/2008 11:42

Oh, Ses I'm sorry Is AF here in full force or is it just spotting? If it's full flow, I would count today as CD1.

Hello all,

Seaside thanks for a lovely post, in particular what you said about there not being a BFP quota for the month - so true! Also interesting about the herbal essences. I actually started taking the Australian Bush Flower 'Woman Essences' (Which contains She Oak among others) the month I fell pregnant. I hadn't really made the connection, I had thought I would try it for PMS...I am about to dig that bottle out again!

lou I don't know how much evironment influences temps, but is there a chance that it was an implantation dip at 8dpo? I always remind myself that temps should not be taken in isolation - it is the pattern that is important. So hopefully your temps stay high!

Sorry to hear about your camping trip - what happened?

lottie how great that you have such an understanding GP.

Lastbox Do you think that the Vitex could be affecting your cycle already? At least good news about the lack of spotting though. I am off to look at your chart...

Hi sesqal hope you are having a good day

We wpent yesterday with a close friend who is pregnant, it was lovely actually! I had a split second of when they showed us the beautiful nursery they have just finished decorating. However, it has made me sooooo excited about being pregnant again, it has really motivated me - if that makes sense?

Today is a lazy day...no plans, lovely!

BrightSideOfLife · 03/08/2008 12:03

lastbo - I am just looking at your chart.

I agree with Fertility Friend that your temps would indicate ovulation on CD 16, not sure about that EWCM though!

It great that your temps have remained high though - all other cycles show a temp dip from 9 or 10dpo?

lastboxoftampons · 03/08/2008 12:21

BSOl Glad your visit with your friend was motivating instead of sad. That's a great attitude!

Also, you just reminded me about Lou's environmental question - I totally think that it does have an effect. The night I took the duvet off our bed, I had a huge dip the next morning! I had woken up very cold.

BSOL I do think that the vitex is doing something - my pre-O temps were higher this month than usual. But yes, it is great that I might be 11dpo with a temp rise instead of dip. At the very least I might've gotten another day added to my LP.

Realized I forgot to input my temp:

Tsk, Lottie, such a bad influence! No, not me, not testing!!! We'll see what the next two days bring. If I get two more high temps similar to today's and FF doesn't move my ov date, then MAYBE I'll test.

(whispers) There is one thing that makes me think I might actually be 11dpo - if you look at the overlay with my pregnancy chart, the pattern of pre-O temps are sooo similar. Shhhhh, don't tell anyone!

I know - something must be taking over my body! Maybe that's a symptom!?!? I guess I'm nonchalant because I'm still not really convinced I ovulated on CD16. and I don't have any symptoms. My sore breasts just kicked in the last few days and normally I have them all LP long. Maybe being away for most of the "LP" if that's what it is, was a good way to forget about it - I haven't been symptom spotting at all.

I need to confess something though - I temp fiddled and overrode the ov date to make it CD26 - and it totally doesn't look right. Maybe I'm just wanting to see it like this, but it looks like an even less convincing Ov date than CD16...

But, if that was a implantation dip at 6dpo - don't you think my temp would've been higher before this morning? And if I was pregnant, don't you think the OPK I took yesterday would've been positive?

I think I'm going to ask DH to block FF from our computer! Staring at chart will not help you!

Oh, and another confession - I just went to the Sainsbury's local to get something for lunch and actaully walked the long way around so that I could check to see if the Chemist was open. It wasn't...

OPK measures for LH, but HCG is really similar to it structurally, apparently it's got an "extra little bit" - HPT's look specifically for that extra bit, but OPK's can't really tell the difference. So, yes, an OPK can be used to detect pregnancy.

HOWEVER I was just fiddling. If I take away CD17 and CD19 - those two weird high temps, then FF gives me an O date of CD22...which kind of makes a lot of sense to me in terms of the EWCM and all of those signs like fatigue, irritability and sore boobs. Sadly it means there's no chance I'm pg - but I knew that was always a very strong possibility and that we gave it our best shot!

so, now that that's over! what's everyone else up to?
