TTC whilst breastfeeding - cycle 4

ThatNimbleOP · 01/01/2025 20:01

Hello,

Is there anyone who’d like to join me…

Currently on cycle 4, CD11. Still breastfeeding my nearly 2 year old and co-sleeping, wondering if it’s having an effect on fertility as we conceived in a blink of an eye the first time…trying not to overthink it all.

Anyone welcome to join, don’t have to be breastfeeding, just any support welcome!

Thought last month was the month but here we are again… :/

@Strongbrewplease thank you! If i don’t have to wait too many cycles i will try again before we go away and hope it happens quickly.

I feel like my little girl might end up weaning herself soon which I feel sad about

january1244 · 12/02/2025 12:34

@BGxxx hopefully you can go quickly to trying again and they'll get you in for early scans very quickly going forwards x

@Strongbrewplease haha! My brain feels a bit pickled. Have to leave myself notes to remember what I was half way thru for work the next day. It would probably be a miracle for me to be pregnant as we only weren't careful once or maybe twice during the fertile window

Strongbrewplease · 13/02/2025 11:40

@Cinnamonbunn oh gosh I really hope you're not as sick this time!!
I didn't have HG but it certainly felt it was heading that way, I had horrendous morning sickness from weeks 7-18 so I sympathise!!

G0ldfinch · 13/02/2025 14:04

Hello all, lots of lovely news to catch up on. Congrats @BloomingOrchidea and @Cinnamonbunn ! You have both offered me hope that conceiving while BFing is possible. I’m now on cd12, testing with ovulation strips and no sign of LH rising yet.

G0ldfinch · 13/02/2025 14:05

@BGxxx I’m so sorry to hear everything you’ve been having to manage, I hope you are recovering well and have good support around you x

What day do people tend to see it rise if they go onto have a BFP? I'm 4dpo and getting soooooooooo impatient!!

G0ldfinch · 13/02/2025 19:16

@clueless99 I’m not sure about pregnancy, this is my first month testing for ovulation! So I’m not an expert by any means

Ooooh that's exciting for you! I'm TTC #3 and had a lot of success with OPKs for my previous conceptions so fingers crossed it helps guide you too. I become some kind of crazy scientist when TTC - my kiddies don't sleep much so I don't BBT but I do use saliva microscopes sometimes which I find very fun, and opks :-) I'm a poas addict but trying to contain myself a bit this month...I'm sure in a couple of days I'll be chomping at the bit and wasting buckets or cash on expensive sensitive tests 😳🌝

I feel so sad about the weaning too. I read that for some expectant mums, their milk dries up during pregnancy and that hit hard. I want her to stop but think ill miss her x
Where are you going away to?

No since I was be able to concieve while breastfeeding I was going to carry on and tandem feed! If I hadn’t of got pregnant I was going to wean at 2 and try to concieve. She’s just turned 18 months so 6 months earlier than planned xx

ThatNimbleOP · 14/02/2025 09:43

Hello lovely ladies, how is everyone doing! So nice to see there's some success...i'm on CD 25 and feeling very periody so well expecting AF soon.

Happy Friday to you all :)

@BGxxx and @BloomingOrchidea just wanted to empathise with the sadness of weaning babies - we are trying to reduce BFing currently with a view to weaning and I feel really sad about it.

I find it difficult to get support with those feelings too as my DH doesn’t get it (although sort of tries) and none of my social circle have enjoyed it so can’t relate. But for me it feels like the end of an era and a loss of a bond or connection, I’m trying to reassure myself that our relationship won’t change with or without it but it’s hard.

G0ldfinch · 14/02/2025 12:36

@clueless99 yes it is quite exciting, keen to see what it tells me about my cycle and am hoping it’s positive! I’ve really been guessing until now and with a child who also doesn’t sleep well (solidarity!) DH and I don’t exactly have the time or energy to put the effort in we did when conceiving her 🤣

I get that. So very few of the women I know breastfeed, and none who is currently trying to fall pregnant again, so, again, finding myself in a pretty isolated spot!
Its so difficult to find like minded mum friends, BUT grateful for this little thread :D

Hi breastfeeding team, I wanted to share an update. It's sad so look away if you don't want to be triggered. I got my BFP at 7dpo, and lovely progression (still ongoing) but I started bleeding. I raced around trying to get progesterone & a scan. It was too early to find anything on the scan and my blood test shows lowish hcg, my uterus lining was also a bit thinner than ideal. I started taking the progesterone which slowed the bleeding and stopped it for a while, but it seems to be persisting now. I had a chemical in Dec cycle and I'm here again now. Feeling deeply heartbroken, still testing and seeing strong lines which is messing with my head. I wanted to share for anyone's info in the future or now, who finds themselves in a similar situation. I'll update in due course but the current plan is to wait till Monday and re-test. It positive I get another blood test....but I am now starting accept the inevitable. Love and sticky wishes to all others on the TTC train x

G0ldfinch · 20/02/2025 18:47

Oh @clueless99 I’m so sorry, what a rollercoaster you’ve been on. It really does mess with your head so much, one minute you’re hopeful and the next worrying. I’ll keep all my fingers crossed for you.

No news on my end really, think I’m about 2DPO according to both apps and OPK. I never got a strong high but there was a definite elevation and despite good advice here to test multiple times per day I only managed once a day 😂
Still sort of testing to make sure I don’t get a second peak but my DD is ill with a fever so it’s not really on my mind, plus chances of me and DH being able to do anything about it currently would be minimal!

BGxxx · 20/02/2025 19:34

@clueless99 will the progesterone help your lining too or is it too late?

My little one is back on wanting milk again now she’s used to be being home again! My supply is definitely not as it normally is but she seems happy still. Im
hoping my cycle will be back soon so I can at least try a month or 2 before we go away

Thanks for the kind words. It really is a complex ride this one, isn't it! I hope the TWW goes quickly for you - shout if you need distractions at all :-)

I don't know at the moment - it has definitely reduced bleeding but the early pregnancy unit said we have to wait a while and see what happens. If I get a positive test early next week then they will do some more tests. I'll update when I know more - this is my first time trying progesterone

My little has been a bit poorly and wanting a lot of milk this past few weeks too...it's very up and down. I hope you manage to find a balance with your supply/cycle. Mine Returned at 18months and I didn't do any major changes, still feeding on demand but DS was relying less and less on it.

Where are you going on your trip?

G0ldfinch · 21/02/2025 08:54

Sounds like we both have poorly babies @clueless99 , here’s hoping they both feel better soon. You’ve got a lot on your plate it seems, I hope you have a lot of support.

ThatNimbleOP · 26/02/2025 23:16

Hi all,

Sorry I haven’t been active on here at all. This month has been a strange one…my cycle ended up being 37 days. Feeling motivated now for this cycle and back on the ovulation test strips.

I haven’t read through the messages but hope everyone is doing well as best they can, regardless.

Stay strong my boobing mummas xx

i haven’t fed since Saturday morning😭😭it’s been really hard but I read low progesterone is a risk factor for ectopic which I definitely have when feeding so I’ve just decided to wean. She’s nearly 19 months, I had wanted to go until 2 so I feel both okay and a bit sad

BloomingOrchidea · 27/02/2025 16:13

@ThatNimbleOP were you testing during that time? glad to hear youre motivated going into this new cycle - are you entering your fertile window?

@bgxxx its so hard isnt it? Hows your girl taking it? I didnt know it was a risk factor for ectopic pregnancies.

Me either! It could be totally unrelated but I don’t have any other risk factors of an ectopic other than hormonal imbalances from breastfeeding so I don’t want to risk it with my last tube!

she’s been so good bless her, she’s actually eating food now which she never has. She keeps saying boobie broken 🥲

ThatNimbleOP · 01/03/2025 21:24

@BloomingOrchidea i tested a bit but we only DTD day 13 so obviously I was way out!

I just don’t know anymore, losing heart again realising this is month 6…never thought we’d be here! My bloods were all normal though and doctor expressed it could be breastfeeding. Hard to know what to do isn’t it! Do you stop, do you not…
