TTC whilst breastfeeding - cycle 4

Is there anyone who’d like to join me…

Currently on cycle 4, CD11. Still breastfeeding my nearly 2 year old and co-sleeping, wondering if it’s having an effect on fertility as we conceived in a blink of an eye the first time…trying not to overthink it all.

Anyone welcome to join, don’t have to be breastfeeding, just any support welcome!

So you weren’t tracking ovulation? You hadn’t tested and thought it was a wierd period but was actually pregnancy?

What did you ask the acupuncturist for as well if you don’t mind me asking.

@Strongbrewplease That’s wonderful, congratulations! How far along are you then?

I’m not having much luck as my cycle still hasn’t returned. I started temping again to help me confirm ovulation but that’s been tricky with some wake ups with DS. Previous guess back in august that I’d ovulated obviously wasn’t correct, then about two weeks ago my temps rose after a high LH read. But my temps dropped back down after two days so false alarm 🤣 Now they’ve gone up again but I gave up on OPKs, and we’ve not DTD in the correct window if ovulation has now occurred so I suppose I’m just waiting to see if my cycle comes soon!!

@Rosieliz04 hopefully things return for you soon! I'm currently on day 3 of two week wait. Hate the waiting. Ovulated on day 29 of my cycle. Managed to dtd 3 times - day before my peak, day of the lh peak and day after ovulation. Not super hopeful. My luteal phase after last period (and first period i'd had was only 8 or 9 days) so if it's as short this time I think I'm going to have to consider cutting morning and evening feeds so feeling huge guilt

@OneKookyPinkShaker That sounds like good coverage, so you might be in with a shot! We managed to get pregnant the first time with my long cycles and short luteal phases, so there may still be a chance.

I’m also thinking about trying to cut out more feeds to try and bring my period on. Just holding on hope currently that it may come. I took off my LH peak data from Fertility Friend so that my chart now reflects a new OV day based off of my BBT. So according to FF, I’m 6DPO. So I’ll try and hold out to middle or end (if I can!) to test if there’s no AF.

@OneKookyPinkShaker Just reread your post, looks like we’re at a similar stage (if I ovulated). Here’s hoping time goes quickly!!

Hi @OneKookyPinkShaker it’s funny you should ask!! I’m good actually, AF started yesterday at what I think was 9DPO. I’ve never been so happy to see blood on the toilet paper! 🤣 Then the cramps hit hahaha.

So I’m feeling a bit more confident that my body is definitely ready to start trying again. Feeling positive about a new cycle and that I know now that I’m ovulating etc.

Can’t deny that a part of me is holding out hope that it’s implantation bleeding, it’s still very light but it only start late last night so still early days. Plus it came at 9DPO which would give me a frighteningly short luteal phase if it is 100% a period. Lastly, my temp dropped today but is still way above cover line.

I had implantation bleeding in my pregnancy and I thought it was my period so I’ve been fooled before!

The sensible side of me is saying it’s my period which is also still pretty encouraging, so either way, we’re moving forward 🙂

At least it's returned and you can start tracking to see what's happening! It was really light for me too last month I was expecting it to be awful after horror stories about first period!

I'm currently 8dpo today last month when AF came back it was at 9dpo so I'm really hopeful it's longer this time to give me a chance.

I have had a back ache and sore boobs but I think that's down to being away for work so lots of driving and missed feeds.

Yeah I’m just glad to have a bit of a clue what’s going on now! It’s come on a bit heavier now so confident it’s AF and not anything else!

Were you able to DTD in your fertile window? Will you test next week or just wait for AF?

So interesting to read all your experiences. Pretty much stopped feeding in the day (first thing, last thing and sometimes a little bit after nursery if he’s very tired) but I swear if anything it’s going up at night…like he knows! Nothing else will comfort him at the moment. Needless to say period still not here. Was sure it was coming last week, acne, cramps, headaches very emotional. But nothing and now those symptoms have gone too. Oh well, guess I’m going to have to get tough on the milk, but just not sure I can!

@Rosieliz04 yeah I was able to the day before peak and day of peak, didn't mange to say of ovulation.

I'll test next week if AF hasn't arrived but have had some light spotting and cramping so I'm sure AF will be tomorrow so another short luteal phase but we'll see

@TheMauveHedgehog it's so difficult when it's there comfort!

@OneKookyPinkShaker Sounds like good coverage to me, I think I read somewhere once that you actually have higher chances in the days before Ov rather than day of. But who know, our bodies are mysterious!
Has AF shown yet?

@Rosieliz04 I think I'm having a chemical. I had a faint positive on clear blue 6 days early yesterday and a darker one today. However spotting is getting heavier not red it's pinky but I think this is AF

@OneKookyPinkShaker Oh no!! I’m so sorry. That’s horrible. I hope by some luck it’s implantation and a faint positive but I’m not sure if the science works on that theory.

@Rosieliz04 tests have continued to get darker positive so I think it was just implantation bleeding but heavier than I had with first pregnancy

@OneKookyPinkShaker I must’ve missed your post on the 30th (sorry!)

I had thought of you and hoped all was okay but didn’t want to press in case it was not good news. So happy to hear it’s progressing, I hope you’re feeling excited now!

I’m on CD6 and still have a light AF so will start testing on OPKs once AF is finished.
