calsworld · 23/04/2008 19:40

Teuch - so so so pleased for you! Don't leave us will you, we'll need you for cycle analysing etc!!

why does all the fun always happen when I'm not around...... perhaps I should stay off the thread and we'll all get preggers!

lardylumps · 23/04/2008 19:58

Teuch I am so pleased for you I really am.

I am not pg. AF caught up with me today (fucking bitch). Really upset at the moment but your news has brightened my day a little.

I really thought we had done it this month

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:02

I'm not going anywhere...I'm going to try and ignore it until at least my period would have been late so maybe saturday. Then I will think of it as real...

Am gutted for you LL - I was relying on one of you girls kicking off an antenatal thread (since I am far to nervous for that!!)

I'm really crampy tonight though, and the nausea seems to have subsided.

Ignore, ignore, ignore...

lardylumps · 23/04/2008 20:09

Moos is testing tomorrow and Tink is soon as well so hopefully there will be three of you to start a new antenatal thread.

Teuch how do you use ov sticks (is that what you call them?). Do you gof until they have told you you have OV?

I am sulking in the bedroom at the moment, DP is downstairs. He can not understand why I am upset. He has just said to me, and i quote:

"For gods sake lardy we have only been trying two months. What are you going to do if it takes 8 months have a nervous breakdown".

So sympathetic my DP (not)

Anonymoos · 23/04/2008 20:15

Evening all,

Firstly I must say.... Congratulations Teuch! So pleased for you, that you don't wait to wait an extra 3 months , perfect timing on your part

Now then [sensible head back on] I'm in a bit of a quandry. I did test this morning and got another BFN so I don't think I can have OVd yet since stopping the pill. Is there any way of telling if I have or not? I'm getting a bit cross with my insides as they're letting me down and it's making me miserable. I didn't tell DH that I tested this morning, I don't think he really gets the whole cycle thing and how it affects us So, can I POAS and get some answers or do I jist have to sit it out and wait?

Sorry for putting a bit of a downer on the thread

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:15

The ovulation predictor kits (OPK's) are used to detect the LH surge that occurs before OV. They cannot tell you that you have definitely ov'd. You start testing, depending on regularity of cycle, a bit before expected OV and keep testing until you get a positive.

The positive generally comes 12-48 hours before ovulation. You can keep testing after this to check that the LH surge dissipates, or that you don't have a failed OV, leading to another LH surge, late ovulation and missing the boat, as it were.

You should really pee later in the day for theseas it only builds up in your urine by the afternoon (generally).

THat's the official version...

Anonymoos · 23/04/2008 20:16

Oh bugger, x posts with you two.

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:19

my version is...

you pee in a cup, everyday from when your period finishes. THen from around CD12 (or whenever is the lead-up to OV) you do it multiple twice a day, 2ish then before bed. Had I not done this, I would have missed my (very brief) surge completely!! T'was gone again by morning next day!

I ovulated very soon after the surge - within 12 hours.

You keep peeing for the rest of the month to make sure that you don't get any more positives, and to test the theory that a pg might show up on an OPK...

Having said all of that - I ditched them this month . But it definitely helped me pinpoint all of my cycle symptoms, which may have helped.

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:25

Moos, you're not putting a downer on anything, that is what we are here for!

The only way to know is a scan, I think. They look for the corpus luteum.

What's the story with the old cervix and CM?? Don't squirm, it is a good indicator of cycle!!!

lardylumps · 23/04/2008 20:30

right I am going to get pissed now..... So Night night everyone. Congrats teuch....

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:31

make it a big one, LL!!

Squackycake · 23/04/2008 20:38

Teuch do you get cramps before O?

I tested negative for LH surge this afternoon (2pm) but the cramps I've had this afternoon and still have, are like a bad period.

Mind you it's cd15 for me and last month I O'd cd18 so maybe if I test tomorrow it'll show a surge.

Do you think i should test again this evening?

Sorry for the -ve Moos, you can't really be sure you've O'd even with temping because the follicle can only partially rupture which still allows a release of progesterone to send your temp up and look like O but the egg is still inside.
I suspect the only way to know for sure is with a scan and bloods. Normally you only get them with IVF, unless you live in the USA with med insurance and then you could get a friggin pink donkey thrown in, such is the lunacy of their healthcare system.

We are slaves to our ovaries ladies

Diege · 23/04/2008 20:47

Oh LL what a bummer ..your dh is right though, it's only been a few months...[diege ducks..] You really will feel better in a few days, when you start to think about the new cycle, but we've all been there with af starting when we think it's our month, and it's pants .
Agree MOOS, vent away, that's what we're here for!! Must be frustrating though trying to figure out where your body's up to!
Nat, like the idea of the baby oil clad male assistant - maybe I'll fill in a form and request one (under 'staff development' or something...
TEUCH - still grinning to myself about your BFP!!! And no you're not going anywhere!!! You are out logistics expert as a good egg!! (literally it seems!)
Looking forward to chatting properly tomorrow - dds teachers on strike so I get to stay at home
Ok, rant alert... Have been extremely upset and tearful over the past few days because of what happended at the London meet-up. Brief synopsis, me and friend arrive after 4.5 hours travel from North. Londoners aren't there to meet in arranged venue. Their phones are turned off. We wait an hour and half and then book into a hotel - friend is heavily pregnant with twins and we didn't want to wait longer as a) we were knackered and friend was feeling rough with achey bump etc b)It was pi**ing and down and freezing cold and we were in a park and c) we couldn't get in touch with them!! - phones were turned off. We finally got a message after we had booked into hotel, but by then things had turned pear shaped to say the least . There's been some hurtful things posted about us, and it's effected me more than I thought it would. Felt really good just to read through the posts here when I got back - you are all so lovely - and was really touched by LL's mention about my smear etc...[results will be weeks )
Sorry for the me-post rant, just needed to get it down, so apologies - not great post BFP chat!! diege xxx

Diege · 23/04/2008 20:49

Oh and hello squackycake . You sound a real fertility expert!!

YouCantTeuchThis · 23/04/2008 20:50

I get crampy before OV, but then very sharp OV pains on the day (or during the night like this month ).

If your tests are cheap then go ahead, otherwise you might as well keep testing in the afternoon and watching out for other signs.

Slaves indeed!

Anonymoos · 23/04/2008 21:02

TMI alert, look away if you're squeamish! Teuch, I didn't get a lot of EWCM, just a little bit when I wiped on CD24 which was around the time my cervix was at its highest and squishiest. After that CM all but disappeared until these last couple of days when I can best describe it as mushy, a bit like thrush IYSWIM? Cervix is now back in place and feeling nose-like. I really don't know what's going on

nobodyputsBBinthecorner · 23/04/2008 21:04

Squacky I've had one 6 week cycle before, but if AF doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll have broken a personal record! I really don't know what's going on and I'm trying not to fret as I know that'll make it worse, I just want an ANSWER!!
